A.Y. 2026/27: a first-cycle (three-year) degree, or a qualification obtained abroad recognised as suitable (the Evaluation Committee assesses the correspondence of a foreign qualification with the Italian one and applies the same criteria). Curricular requirements (both are needed): (1) some knowledge of mathematics, economics and statistics acquired during the first-cycle studies; (2) an Italian degree in one of the classes L-7 Civil and Environmental Engineering, L-8 Information Engineering, L-9 Industrial Engineering, L-18 Economics and Business Management, L-30 Physical Sciences and Technologies, L-31 Computer Science and Technologies, L-33 Economic Sciences, L-35 Mathematical Sciences or L-41 Statistics (D.M. 270/04), or the corresponding D.M. 509/99 classes 8, 9, 10, 17, 25, 26, 28, 32 or 37, or a pre-reform four-year degree in Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Business, Statistical Sciences, Information Technology or Engineering. Applicants who do not meet all the curricular requirements cannot enrol. Graduating students may apply in any intake open to their applicant group (intakes 1 and 2 for all applicants, intake 3 for EU candidates only); if admitted they enrol under condition and must obtain the degree by 31 December 2026, otherwise the enrolment is cancelled. Personal preparation is assessed by the committee score (see entry_exam_or_test).

• A.Y. 2026/27: English at CEFR B2 or higher, fulfilled at the application stage in one of these ways: (1) a suitable certificate from the list recognised by the University of Bologna Language Centre (CLA page https://centri.unibo.it/cla/it/idoneita-e-test-linguistici/riconoscimento-idoneita-linguistica, AICLU table)
• (2) certification of curricular or other experiences abroad involving the use of English (e.g. an exam taken in English, a degree taught in English, a mobility period abroad)
• (3) the free CLA Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT), whose result counts as a B2 certification if at least B2: 2026 sessions on 19-20 March, 16-17 April, 7-8 May and 24-26 June 2026 (booking deadlines 13 March, 10 April, 30 April and 18 June 2026, 10:00 CET, by e-mail to the programme office with the Unibo account). Only one OOPT session may be taken (a new one only after a 'timeout'), the outcome must be known before the application is submitted, and a B2 result is declared on the programme's Form G; an OOPT already booked for another Unibo programme is valid. No Italian-language requirement.

Admission is based on dossier evaluation rather than a written entrance exam. The committee awards up to 70 points for academic merit, up to 20 points for the curriculum vitae and non-academic/work experience, and up to 10 optional points for a GRE certificate. Only applicants scoring at least 60/100 are admitted.

• University of Bologna graduates or graduating students: the self-certification of the Unibo career proposed by Studenti Online (or a document certifying the qualification)

• Qualification obtained in Italy at another university: self-certification of the first-cycle degree with the list of exams taken (not yet graduated: list of exams taken)

• Qualification obtained abroad: copy of the qualification, translated into Italian or English, with transcript of records and Diploma Supplement where available (not yet graduated: list of exams taken / Transcript of Records)
