Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, three-year university diploma or equivalent foreign qualification. The standard curricular requirements are an Italian first-cycle degree in class L-11 or L-12, or the equivalent pre-reform classes 11 or 3, or an old four-year degree in Translation and Interpreting, Translator and Interpreter, or Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures. Applicants with a different Italian degree or a foreign degree may still apply, but their qualification is screened by the examining committee and they may sit the admission test only if judged eligible. Applicants who have not yet graduated may sit the selection and, if admitted, may enrol conditionally if by the enrolment deadline they have at least 150 CFU/ECTS or have passed all exams except the final exam; the qualifying degree must be obtained by 31 Aralık 2026.

A.Y. 2026/27. Requirements differ by curriculum (two separate calls). Conference Interpreting (InConf, taught in Italian): Italian and two foreign languages at least at CEFR C1; the two foreign languages are chosen as language B and language C among English, French, German, Russian and Spanish (combinations listed in the call) and all three are assessed only through the entrance exam (no certificate). Non-EU citizens residing abroad applying to InConf must also meet the University's Italian-language requirement: pass the University of Bologna Italian test by 11 June 2026, 14:30 CEST (registration on Studenti Online by 4 June 2026, 12:00 CEST) or submit an Italian-language certificate by 3 June 2026 (results by 10 June 2026); accepted certificates/titles are listed at www.unibo.it/provaitaliano ('Group 1' for non-EU residing abroad, 'Group 2' for non-EU residing abroad who compete with EU students). Marco Polo students need an Italian certificate of at least B1 by 31 December 2026. Interpreting and Technologies for Communication (InTeCo, taught in English, blended): English at least C1 and Italian at least B2, both verified only through the entrance exam (no certificate for English or Italian), plus one further language other than English and Italian at least C1, documented at application with a language certificate (it need not be recent; CEFR C1 or an equivalent non-CEFR level) or, if no certificate exists for that language, a personal language history CV on the programme template; the committee screens it and publishes eligibility on 19 June 2026, and without a positive assessment the applicant cannot sit the exam. International students admitted without B2 Italian must include learning activities to reach that level in their study plan.

The programme uses restricted-access admission tests. Conference Interpreting candidates take all parts of the exam in a single day, normally in person on 1 Temmuz 2026, 2 Temmuz 2026 or, if necessary, 3 Temmuz 2026; only specified candidates may take it remotely. Interpreting and Technologies for Communication candidates take a remote entrance exam on 29 Haziran 2026 and, if necessary, 30 Haziran 2026. Passing the admission test is required to verify adequate personal preparation.

• For applicants with a non-standard Italian qualification: self-certification of passed exams, marks and credits.

• For applicants with a foreign qualification: the degree certificate, or if not yet awarded the transcript of passed exams, with transcript of records and Diploma Supplement where available; if the document is not in one of the programme languages, the required official translation.

• Copy of a valid identity document; if the applicant is a foreign citizen and the ID is not translated into English, a copy of the passport.

• For non-EU-equivalent applicants: copy of the residence permit.

• For INTECO applicants: mandatory documentation proving the additional language other than English and Italian at CEFR C1, either a language certificate or a personal language history curriculum.
