- Applicants need a three-year degree or suitable foreign qualification. Officially listed Italian degree classes are L-1 Cultural Heritage, L-10 Humanities, L-42 History, and L-43 Diagnostics for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Applicants from other classes can qualify with 24 CFU, including at least 10 CFU in archaeology-related SSDs and the remaining 14 CFU in those SSDs or related areas such as Greek and Roman history, ancient Near East history, medieval history, Greek and Latin language and literature, anthropology, topography and cartography, restoration, applied physics for cultural heritage, geology, applied geophysics, environmental chemistry for cultural heritage, and ethnography/anthropology. Foreign qualifications are assessed by the committee on academic background. Applicants may apply before graduating if only the final examination is missing, but the degree must be obtained by 2026-12-31.

- For the English-taught ACRA curriculum, English proficiency at CEFR B2 or higher is required through a recognized certificate, proof that a prior degree was taught in English, or self-declaration of native-speaker status. For the Italian-taught curriculum, the programme page states that extra-EU applicants residing abroad must submit an Italian language certificate by 2026-11-19.

- No written entrance exam is stated. For applicants from Italian institutions, personal preparation is automatically adequate with a final grade of at least 95/110 or, for graduating students, a weighted average of at least 25.78/30. Applicants with foreign qualifications are assessed on academic background and may be invited to an MS Teams interview. For the ACRA call, candidates not admitted in one intake cannot join later intakes in the same academic year.
