Applicants need a first-cycle degree in class L-7 Civil and Environmental Engineering under DM 270/2004 or class L-8 Civil and Environmental Engineering under DM 509/1999, or another first-cycle degree with at least 54 CFU in the following core subject areas of the Environmental Engineering regulations of the University of Bologna: GEO/02, GEO/05, ICAR/01, ICAR/02, ICAR/03, ICAR/04, ICAR/05, ICAR/06, ICAR/07, ICAR/08, ICAR/09, ING-IND/11, ING-IND/24, ING-IND/25, ING-IND/27, ING-IND/28, ING-IND/29, ING-IND/30, plus at least 24 credits in MAT and FIS. Foreign qualifications are assessed by the Degree Programme Board; the programme page gives examples such as Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Systems Engineering, Resources Engineering, and Biotechnology. If not yet graduated, applicants may apply and must obtain the bachelor's degree by 31 Aralık 2026.
English at CEFR B2 or higher is required. Accepted proof on the programme page includes IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL PBT 507-557, TOEFL CBT 180-217, TOEFL iBT 80-99, Trinity ISE II, Cambridge First Certificate, LanguageCert International ESOL, Cambridge Advanced (CAE), Cambridge Proficiency (CPE), Pearson, Duolingo at least 100, or a B2 curricular suitability certificate from the University of Bologna Language Centre or another Italian university. The requirement is also considered met for applicants with a university degree fully taught in English lasting at least 2 academic years (120 ECTS) in an EU/EEA country, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Guyana, or Switzerland, provided English medium of instruction is clearly stated on the transcript. Certificates or MOI statements from universities outside those countries are not accepted.
No separate written entrance exam is published in the official call. Admission is open access but conditional on Committee assessment of curricular requirements and adequate personal competencies and skills. Adequate preparation is deemed satisfied by either a final degree mark of at least 88/110 (or 80/100), or for graduating students at least 165 CFU with a weighted average of at least 22/30, or by minimum credits in specific subjects: at least 15 CFU in ICAR/01, ICAR/02, ICAR/03, ICAR/06, ICAR/07, ICAR/08, ICAR/09; at least 15 CFU in ING-IND/22, ING-IND/24, ING-IND/25, ING-IND/27, ING-IND/28, ING-IND/29, ING-IND/30, ING-IND/35; at least 15 CFU in MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/07; and at least 9 CFU in FIS/01. Applicants who do not meet those thresholds may still be assessed specifically by the Degree Programme Board.

Qualification required for admission: University of Bologna self-certification, another Italian university self-certification of the first-cycle qualification and exams, or if still graduating the self-certification of exams already taken.
If the qualification was obtained abroad: a copy of the qualification translated into Italian or English, plus transcript of records and Diploma Supplement where available; if not yet graduated, the transcript of records/list of exams taken.

Environmental Engineering is taught in English in the Earth Resources Engineering curriculum and in Italian in the Ingegneria per l'Ambiente e il Territorio curriculum. The admission information shown is for the English-taught Earth Resources Engineering curriculum, admitted under the University of Bologna's shared 2026/2027 international admissions call.
The Italian version of the admissions notice numbers the rounds differently: its rounds closing on 2 July, 2 September, 30 September and 28 October 2026 match Intakes 5-8 of the English call, but it gives 4 June 2026 (not 29 May) as the opening date of the round closing on 2 July.
All dates and admission rules shown are for A.Y. 2026/27; the 2027/28 admissions call has not been published yet.
