Applicants must hold a first-cycle degree in one of the listed fields: L-5, L-11, L-12, L-14, L-16, L-20, L-33, L-36, L-37, L-40, L-42, DS/1 or LMG/01. Applicants with a different degree class may still apply if they have at least 32 CFU/ECTS in the required disciplinary sectors, including international law, EU law, economic and political geography, modern and contemporary history, economics, statistics, political science, history of international relations, sociology, and African or Asian history and institutions. Applicants with pre-reform Italian qualifications or foreign qualifications are assessed by the committee for equivalence and curricular fit. Admission also requires a positive assessment of suitable preparation in the political, economic, legal, linguistic, sociological and historical areas. Applicants who have not yet graduated may apply if they have at least 140 CFU by the relevant application deadline, or 77.78% of their programme if they have a foreign, pre-reform or single-cycle law qualification, and they must obtain the qualifying degree by 31 Aralık 2026.

A.Y. 2026/27. English at least at CEFR level B2 is required for both curricula and must be proven by the application deadline of the selection round, otherwise the applicant is excluded from the ranking. Accepted proofs: (a) a certificate obtained no more than three years before the application deadline of the relevant selection round: any international B2 English certificate listed in the CLA 'AICLU table' (for IELTS the Test Report Form number is enough at application), TOEFL paper-based at least 550, Trinity GESE at least grade 7, or a B2 certificate (self-certification for Italian public universities) issued by a university language centre in Italy or abroad; (b) a self-declaration of an OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test) result of at least B2 taken at the University of Bologna Language Centre (CLA) or at the Department of Interpreting and Translation (Forli) for another selection in A.Y. 2026/27 or 2025/26; or (c) one of these conditions: native English speaker with documented nationality of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States; at least 8 CFU in SSD L-LIN/12 with a grade of at least 24/30 (pass/fail credits not counted); a degree (obtained or being obtained as entry qualification) from an English-speaking university or taught entirely in English; an IB Diploma, High School diploma or GCE obtained in English (at least 50% of the courses taught in English). Applicants without any of these may take the OOPT online (Zoom) organised by CLA Romagna, before the application deadline of the relevant intake: 2026 sessions on 10 March, 14 April, 21 April, 12 May, 14 May, 9 June and 16 June (registration by the dates in the call); only for applicants who have registered for the selection and paid the EUR 50 fee, 50 places per date, one attempt only. Italian: not required for the English-taught curriculum Transnational Challenges and Global Governance. Non-EU citizens residing abroad who want the Italian-taught curriculum Politica e Sicurezza Internazionale must meet the Italian requirement by the publication of the first-selection ranking, either by passing the University of Bologna Italian test by 14 May 2026, 14:30 CEST (registration on Studenti Online by 7 May 2026, 12:00 CEST) or by uploading a B2 Italian certificate or a 'Group 1' qualification (www.unibo.it/provaitaliano) by 11 May 2026; otherwise they are assigned to the English-taught curriculum. Holders of a C1/C2 Italian certificate or a 'Group 2' secondary-school title compete with EU applicants (upload by 11 May 2026). Marco Polo students may enrol only in the Italian-taught curriculum and need an Italian certificate of at least B1 by 31 December 2026.

Sınav / değerlendirme

No separate written entrance exam is described in the 2026/2027 admission materials. Selection is based on verification of curricular requirements and B2 English, followed by evaluation of the applicant's titles and academic record, including curricular coherence with the programme, internationalisation experiences and other activities relevant to the educational path. Rankings are then compiled by selection round.

• Mandatory: front-and-back copy of a valid identity document; foreign citizens whose identity document has no English translation upload a copy of their passport.

• Mandatory - entry qualification: University of Bologna graduates/undergraduates select the self-certification proposed by the system; applicants from another Italian university declare the first-cycle degree and fill in the 'courses taken' table in the application (no further upload needed).

• Mandatory - foreign qualification: copy of the degree certificate with transcript of records and Diploma Supplement (if available) issued by the foreign university, with grades and credits (transcript of records only if not yet graduated); a certificate describing the grading system if it is not already stated in these documents; the 'courses taken' table filled in; documents in a language other than Italian, English, French or Spanish need an English or Italian translation (which the applicant may do).
