- The programme includes two Italian-taught curricula and one English-taught curriculum, Intelligent Embedded Systems. For the English curriculum managed directly by the University of Bologna (the IES local track), applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent foreign qualification recognised as suitable. The accepted Italian degree classes are L-8 and L-31. Applicants with a different degree must have at least 42 ECTS in INF/01, ING-INF/05, MAT/01 to MAT/09, FIS/01, FIS/02, and FIS/03, of which at least 18 ECTS must be in INF/01 and ING-INF/05. Curricular requirements must be satisfied by the application deadline. The selection call for the IES local track also evaluates personal preparation through academic qualifications, the curriculum vitae, and an interview conducted in English; admission requires an overall score of at least 45/100 and a ranking position within the available places.

- For the Intelligent Embedded Systems curriculum, applicants must demonstrate English proficiency at least at CEFR B2. The admission board accepts language certifications listed by the University Language Centre, a degree obtained in the required language, prior curricular language proficiency, a university-level English exam explicitly stated at B2 or above, a B2 English exam at a university language centre, native-speaker status, or, only for Intelligent Embedded Systems candidates, a passed OOPT test at the University of Bologna Language Centre or another authorised institution. The language requirement must be met by the application deadline.

- For the English Intelligent Embedded Systems local track, admission is by selection call rather than open matriculation. The board evaluates academic qualifications for up to 20 points, the curriculum vitae for up to 20 points, and an online interview in English for up to 60 points. The interview assesses logical reasoning, interpersonal and communication skills, oral comprehension, and technical preparation in programming, software engineering, algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, databases, networking, web technologies, mathematics, and statistics. The interview is held online via Microsoft Teams. Candidates must score at least 45/100 overall and rank within the 15 available local-track places.
