The official 2026/2027 calls use the same two-round timetable across the programme. Selection 1 application deadline: 16 Nisan 2026 13:00. Selection 2 application deadline: 4 Haziran 2026 13:00. Selection 2 is reserved to Italian, EU, non-EU equivalent, and non-EU applicants competing with EU candidates.
For non-EU applicants residing abroad, the official 2026/2027 calls allow application only in Selection 1, with deadline 16 Nisan 2026 13:00. Selection 2 is not open to this group.
A.Y. 2026/27. Applicants need a first-cycle (Bachelor's) degree, a three-year university diploma, a pre-reform degree or a foreign qualification recognised as suitable. Curricular requirement: a Bachelor's degree in class L-14, L-15, L-16, L-18, L-20, L-33, L-36, L-37, L-39, L-40 or L-41; or a Bachelor's degree in class L-1, L-3, L-5, L-6, L-10, L-11, L-12, L-19, L-24 or L-42 with at least 24 university credits (CFU) in any of SPS/02, SPS/04, SPS/07, SPS/08, SPS/09, SPS/10, SECS-P/01, SECS-P/02, IUS/09, IUS/21 or M-STO/04. For foreign or pre-D.M. 509/1999 qualifications the selection committee assesses the previous career and its congruity with these requirements. Undergraduates may apply if they have at least 140 CFU by the application deadline of the selection they enter and graduate by 31 December 2026 (the Italian-curricula call also counts Erasmus transcripts not yet recorded). The English-taught Public Affairs curriculum and the two Italian-taught curricula (separate call) have the same class and credit requirements. Personal preparation is assessed through the titles-based evaluation described under the entry test.
A.Y. 2026/27. Public Affairs curriculum (taught in English): English at CEFR level B2, proof attached to the selection application. Accepted: a certificate taken no more than five years before (counted from the exam date) listed in the Unibo Language Centre (CLA) equivalence table, TOEFL computer-based at least 213, TOEFL paper-based at least 550, Trinity GESE 8, or a B2 certificate/self-certification from an Italian university language centre. Exempt: a degree from an English-speaking university, a university degree taught entirely in English, an IB Diploma, High School diploma or GCE obtained in English (at least 50% of courses in English), or at least 8 CFU in L-LIN/12 with an average grade of at least 24/30. The two Italian-taught curricula (separate call) require English B1 and the Italian-language requirement (non-EU applicants residing abroad: Unibo Italian test on 26 March or 16 April 2026, or an exemption certificate submitted by 30 March 2026).
A.Y. 2026/27. No written test or interview: personal preparation is assessed on titles. Public Affairs: academic merit (weighted average of exam marks) up to 60 points, formula 20 + (weighted average - 18) x 40/11.5, full 60 points from an average of 29.5/30 (foreign grades converted with the ECTS formula); congruence of credits in listed political-science, sociology, law, economics, statistics and history sectors up to 20 points (1/4 point per CFU); study abroad, additional degrees, related work/internships/volunteering and extra language certificates at B2 or higher, 5 points each up to 20 points. Candidates with 60/100 or more are eligible and ranked (ties: younger candidate first); below 60/100 they cannot enrol. Non-refundable EUR 50 admission fee. The two Italian-taught curricula have their own call with the same academic-merit formula, the same 20-point credit-congruence scale (1/4 point per CFU) and the same 60/100 threshold, but their third category (5 points each, up to 20 points) covers only study abroad, additional degrees and related work/internships/volunteering; extra language certificates are not scored.
Degree certificate / transcript of records / list of exams with grades, credits (CFU) and subject sectors (SSD), weighted average and final degree mark (if already graduated); undergraduates upload the list of exams taken.
Foreign qualification: copy of the degree that gives access to second-cycle (Master's) studies in the issuing country, translated into Italian or English, with transcript of records and Diploma Supplement where available.
Degree from another Italian university: self-certification of the first-cycle degree with the list of exams (undergraduates: self-certification of exams with CFU, SSD and grades); University of Bologna students may select the self-certification generated by Studenti Online.
Certificate proving English at level B2 or higher (Public Affairs curriculum; B1 or higher for the Italian-taught curricula).

Copy of the residence permit, if held, for non-EU citizens.
