- Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, a three-year university diploma, an old-system five-year Italian degree, or a suitable foreign qualification that gives access to comparable second-cycle study in the country of award. Eligible Italian degree classes are L-9 Industrial Engineering and L-8 Information Engineering, plus the equivalent DM 509/99 classes, equivalent Italian qualifications from the pre-DM 509/99 system, or equivalent foreign qualifications. Candidates must also have at least 18 CFU/ECTS in mathematical and computer sciences, at least 12 CFU/ECTS in physical sciences, and at least 18 CFU/ECTS in the mechanical engineering sectors ING-IND/08, ING-IND/09, ING-IND/10, ING-IND/12, ING-IND/13, ING-IND/14, ING-IND/15, ING-IND/16, and ING-IND/17. Still-graduating applicants may apply if by the intake deadline they have earned at least 135 ECTS in an Italian bachelor's programme or 75% of the credits or exams required in a foreign or old-system programme, excluding the final examination.

- English at minimum CEFR B2 is required. The call accepts certificates obtained from 2021-01-01 onward, including TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 5.5, FCE grade C, Trinity ISE II, Cambridge English Certificate Level B2, Business Vantage, certification or self-certification of B2 from a University Language Centre, or self-certification of passing a B2 English proficiency exam in an Italian state university programme. Applicants may alternatively satisfy the requirement through the University of Bologna CLA Oxford Online Placement Test at B2 or higher. Native speakers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and applicants with a bachelor's degree delivered in English, are exempt from separate certification.
- Sınav / Test
- Admission is open but subject to assessment of adequate personal preparation. The procedure includes evaluation of the candidate's curriculum and, except where an exemption applies, an online interview on Teams. The interview may include a test and verifies basic knowledge in mathematics, physics, and the disciplines characterising mechanical engineering. Candidates with an Italian first-cycle degree in class L-9 whose title contains 'Mechanical Engineering' are considered to have passed the adequacy assessment without the online interview. Candidates who do not pass the oral interview cannot enrol.

- Proof of English language proficiency at B2 level or documented exemption as a native speaker or holder of a bachelor's degree delivered in English.
- Copy of a valid identity document; if the identity document of a foreign citizen does not include an English translation, a copy of the passport.
