Applicants must already hold a first-cycle degree, three-year university diploma, or another suitable foreign qualification that gives access to a comparable second-cycle programme. Admission requires at least 48 ECTS in the two modern languages to be continued in the master's programme, with 24 ECTS in the first language and 24 ECTS in the second language, chosen from L-LIN/04, L-LIN/06, L-LIN/07, L-LIN/11, L-LIN/12, L-LIN/14 and L-LIN/21 (Russian only). Credits in L-LIN/06 and L-LIN/11 count only when they are language, linguistics or translation courses and not literature courses; candidates with credits in those sectors must submit the relevant course syllabi. For Italian qualifications, a final bachelor's grade of at least 105/110 is required. Applicants who have not yet graduated cannot apply for this programme.

A.Y. 2026/27 call. English at least CEFR B2 is required for admission. The requirement is deemed fulfilled by the curricular credits in L-LIN/12 and L-LIN/11 (only language and linguistics, not literature, course units). Applicants with fewer than 24 ECTS in L-LIN/11 and L-LIN/12, and all applicants holding a foreign degree, must prove B2 by (a) an English certificate recognised by the University of Bologna or (b) the OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test) taken in one of the Unibo sessions before the admission deadlines. Recognised certificates: IELTS Academic or General Training at least 5.5; TOEFL iBT at least 80; Cambridge B1 Preliminary 160/grade A; Cambridge B2 First 160/grade C; Cambridge C1 Advanced 160; Cambridge C2 Proficiency 180; Cambridge B2 Business Vantage 160/grade C; Cambridge C1 Business Higher 160; Trinity ISE II, III, IV; IGCSE English as a Second Language or First Language English grade C (all four components); University of Bologna CLA self-certification or self-certification from another Italian university language centre of a passed ENGLISH LANGUAGE B-2 (or higher) test. All certificates must have been obtained from 1 January 2024 onwards and must be uploaded to Studenti Online with the application (in every intake applied for). Citizens of an English-speaking country and holders of a foreign degree from an institution in an English-speaking country need no further proof. The admission interview then checks at least B2 in the second (non-English) foreign language chosen.

Sınav / değerlendirme

There is no written admission test. The committee first checks that the qualification, curricular requirements and language requirements are met, then calls admitted applicants to an individual online interview on Microsoft Teams. The interview is held in one of the two foreign languages chosen for the programme, provided it is not English, and assesses prior studies, any Erasmus or other study-abroad experience, internships or work experience, and motivation for applying. Candidates are declared either suitable or unsuitable.

• Copy of the front and back of a valid identity document.

• If the applicant is a foreign citizen and the identity document has no English translation, a copy of the passport.

• Proof of the qualification required for admission: Unibo self-certification, another Italian university self-certification with exam list, or equivalent degree documentation.

• For a foreign qualification: copy of the qualification translated into Italian or English, with transcript of records and Diploma Supplement where available.

• The programme application form specifying the degree title, the two foreign languages already studied, any relevant language-course details, and the intended programme languages.

• Documentation of English-language proficiency at B2 when required under the call.
