A.Y. 2026/27 (2027/28 dates not yet published on 27 September 2026). Non-EU applicants living abroad (foreign bachelor degree) use the general Engineering calls: September 2026 intake (1st semester) - 1st call 1 October - 1 December 2025 (early bird) and 2nd call 13 January - 26 February 2026, outcomes by the end of May 2026

The additional call of 27 February - 31 March 2026 is NOT open to them (only EEA students and non-EEA residents in Italy with a qualifying permit). Places 2026/27: 140 in total, of which 45 for extra-EU students. Universitaly visa pre-enrolment: Polimi strongly suggests that students admitted to the 1st semester 2026/27 submit the visa application on Universitaly by the end of June 2026
Polimi validates it only after graduation, upload of the final degree with proof of authenticity and a valid English certificate verified by the Admissions Office. National deadline to file the visa request at the Italian embassy/consulate for A.Y. 2026/27: 30 November 2026.
A.Y. 2026/27 (programme page and Didactic Regulations 2026/27, rules 'in effect up to the academic year 2027/2028'). A first-cycle degree (EQF level 6) or equivalent is required, with an adequate background in fundamental engineering subjects and in disciplines relevant to environmental and land planning engineering; a foreign degree must be obtained before enrolment, give access to EQF level 7 and contain subjects closely related to the programme. Minimum credits in the previous degree: 18 CFU/ECTS in Mathematics, 12 in Physics and 30 in hydraulics, hydrology, environmental engineering, topography and cartography, spatial planning, geotechnics, construction science, ecology, geology or chemistry. An Evaluation Committee of the Course Council decides (decision not appealable) on the academic career and may set educational obligations, curricular integrations or constraints on the study plan before enrolment. Graduates of other Italian universities need a credit-weighted average of at least 24/30 plus the Committee's favourable opinion. Polimi graduates are admitted automatically with at least 100 credits and an average of at least 24/30 by the end of the autumn session of their 2nd year and graduation within 4 academic years, or with a weighted average of at least 22.00, 22.50 or 23.00/30 depending on the number of academic years taken to graduate (Polimi graduates from other bachelor programmes also need the Committee's favourable opinion). Graduates of foreign universities: favourable opinion of the Evaluation Committee and verification of the suitability of the degree. Italian-degree applicants may apply as final-year students with 145 certified ECTS (Polimi students if enrolled in the next graduation session; other universities if they graduate before the enrolment deadline). Foreign-degree applicants must also meet Polimi's strict country-specific minimum CGPA where one is set (e.g. India 70/100, China 80%, Bangladesh 3.3/4).
A.Y. 2027/28 (Admissions Office list 'updated for A.Y. 2027/2028'). An English certificate is required for all MSc applicants: TOEFL iBT / TOEFL Home Edition at least 78 for tests taken until 20/01/2026 or at least 4.5 for tests taken from 21/01/2026 (paper-based at least 547, computer-based at least 210; Polimi TOEFL code 9795); TOEIC at least 785 Listening & Reading + at least 310 Speaking & Writing; Cambridge Proficiency or Advanced pass at grade C, First pass at grade B; IELTS Academic or General Training at least 6; Trinity College ISE II or higher; PTE Academic overall at least 59; Pearson PEIC overall at least 59; LanguageCert ESOL B2 Communicator (4 skills). Certificates considered expired by the issuing institution are not accepted. Exemption: a bachelor degree taught in English for at least 3 years, proven by a university document confirming that at least 75% of the courses were taught in English. For foreign-degree applicants the certificate is not needed to submit the application and does not affect the evaluation, but it is mandatory to obtain the admission letter, merit scholarships, the visa and to enrol (Italian-degree applicants must provide it in order to be accepted). Italian: the Admissions Office asks applicants to programmes 'taught in Italian and English' for an Italian B2 certificate (CLIQ institutions; Italian citizens exempt); this programme is officially 'Italian or English' with a fully English track (Environmental Engineering for Sustainability) and four tracks that are mostly English with some Italian courses, and Polimi does not state whether applicants who will follow a fully English study plan must provide the Italian certificate at application . International students of English-taught Master's programmes must in any case prove Italian at B2 level before graduating (Italian OFA).
none - A.Y. 2026/27: no entrance test; admission is by evaluation of the academic record by the programme's Admissions Committee. The GRE General Test is optional for Engineering applicants (no minimum score, Polimi code 0495) and may strengthen the application. No portfolio is required (mandatory only for Architecture, Urban Planning and Policy Design and Design programmes).

No application dates for A.Y. 2027/28 are published yet (checked 27 September 2026); the deadlines, academic requirements, documents and test information shown are for A.Y. 2026/27 and will change when Polimi publishes the 2027/28 calendar. The English certificate list is the one Polimi has already published for A.Y. 2027/28. The programme page itself says its information refers to A.Y. 2025/26 and may change; the admission rules shown come from the 2026/27 programme regulations, which apply up to A.Y. 2027/28.
The programme is taught in Italian or English: one track (Environmental Engineering for Sustainability) is fully in English, and the other four tracks are mostly in English with some courses in Italian; the study plan can be arranged to be fully in English.
Polimi's Admissions Office asks applicants to programmes taught in Italian and English for an Italian B2 certificate; Polimi has not stated whether applicants who will follow a fully English study plan in this programme must provide it at application.
For Polimi graduates, the 2026/27 programme regulations set an automatic-admission average of 22.00 to 23.00 out of 30 depending on the number of years taken to graduate; the exact year bands in the published table are unclear.
The programme is based at the Milano Leonardo campus; the 2026/27 programme regulations also list Piacenza because one second-year variant of the English track has courses partly at the Piacenza campus.
Two official sources differ on when the English certificate is needed: the Admissions Office page says it is not needed to submit the application (only for the admission letter, scholarships, visa and enrolment), while the 2026/27 programme regulations say it is needed in order to be admitted. The information shown follows the Admissions Office page.
For A.Y. 2026/27 Polimi also accepted TOEIC 720 Listening & Reading for tests registered by 28 February 2026; the 2027/28 list shown here requires TOEIC 785 Listening & Reading plus 310 Speaking & Writing.
The documents shown are those for applicants with a foreign bachelor degree; applicants with an Italian degree apply through Polimi Online Services with a different procedure, whose document list is not shown here.
The minimum CGPA examples by country (India 70/100, China 80%, Bangladesh 3.3/4) come from Polimi's foreign-qualification requirements page; other countries have different minimums or none.
