Polimi confirms it only after graduation, upload of the final degree with a document confirming its authenticity and a valid language certificate verified by the Admissions Office. The government deadline to formalise the student-visa request at the competent Italian diplomatic representation for A.Y. 2026/27 is 30 November 2026 (if the visa is denied or not issued by then, the student cannot proceed and the first instalment is refunded).
A.Y. 2026/27 (Mathematical Engineering Teaching Regulations; the regulations apply to the year they refer to, and a new MSc admission model starts in 2028/29). A first-cycle degree (EQF level 6) or comparable qualification is required (Italian-degree applicants may apply as final-year students with 145 certified ECTS). Admission is decided, without appeal, by the programme's Evaluation Committee on the academic record (documented exceptional circumstances may be attached to the application); it may carry curricular integrations (courses to be passed before enrolment, not counted in the 120 CFU) and/or constraints on the study plan. English knowledge is a final admission requirement. Curricular requirements: Polimi Mathematical Engineering bachelors - fulfilled if they complied with note (c) of paragraph 7.3 of the bachelor regulations, otherwise integrations may be assigned; other Polimi engineering bachelors - some integrations may be required; class L-35 bachelors - automatically fulfilled; classes L-7, L-8, L-9, L-18, L-30, L-31, L-33, L-41 from other universities - at least 35 CFU in MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08 (missing credits can be made up through integrations, e.g. single courses, before admission); other classes - at the Committee's discretion; bachelors from foreign universities - no curricular integrations are required, and curricular requirements and any study-plan constraints are verified at the Committee's discretion on the academic record. Grade thresholds (CFU-weighted exam average M): Polimi engineering bachelors S = 23 + (N - 3), N = years to obtain the bachelor, N at most 6; Polimi Architecture or Design bachelors S = 27; other Italian bachelors S = 27; foreign bachelors - the Committee examines the complete curriculum. A positive evaluation is valid only for the semester applied for. Programme page (foreign degrees): an adequate background in core engineering disciplines and in subject areas relevant to Mathematical Engineering is required. Foreign-degree applicants: the bachelor must give access to EQF level 7 and contain subjects closely related to the programme, and must meet the Admissions Office's country-specific minimum CGPA where one is set (for example India 70/100, China 80%, Turkey 3/4, Iran 15.5/20, Pakistan 3.3/4).

Certificates considered expired by the issuing body are not accepted. Exemption: a bachelor taught in English for at least 3 years, proven by a university document confirming that at least 75% of the courses were taught in English. Applicants with a foreign degree: the certificate is not needed to submit the application and does not influence the evaluation, but it is mandatory for the admission letter, merit-based scholarships, the visa and enrolment. Applicants with an Italian degree must provide certified English at the required level in order to be accepted (School of Industrial and Information Engineering: self-certified by the enrolment deadline, per the Italian-qualification page). Italian is not an entry requirement for this English-taught programme; all international students must prove Italian proficiency in order to graduate: either upload an Italian B2 certificate from an institution recognised by the Italian Ministry of University upon enrolment, or attend Polimi's free Italian course and pass its exit test (minimum score).
