Application fee EUR 50 early bird (1 October - 1 December), EUR 150 from 2 December and for the 2nd semester; one application per semester, up to two programmes. Applicants with an Italian bachelor degree (School of Civil, Environmental and Land Management Engineering): Semester I 6 July - 26 August 2026
For non-EEA applicants abroad with foreign qualifications in Engineering, use the general Engineering calls; the additional call is limited to EEA and non-EEA resident in Italy. February 2027 intake is listed only for Engineering.
A.Y. 2026/27 (Civil Engineering Teaching Regulations; valid for 2026/27 and 'may be subject to change in subsequent Academic Years'). A first-cycle (bachelor) degree or comparable foreign qualification is required; applicants who will graduate before the MSc enrolment deadline may apply (Italian-degree applicants: final-year students with 145 certified ECTS). Admission is decided by the programme's Admission Committee on the previous academic career and the adequacy of preparation. Polimi graduates of a continuity bachelor: automatic admission with at least 100 ECTS and a weighted average of at least 24/30 by the end of the autumn session of the second year plus the degree within four academic years, or with a degree average of at least 22.00/30 (degree in 4 years or less), 22.50/30 (5 years or less) or 23.00/30 (more than 5 years). Graduates of other Italian universities: committee evaluation, weighted average of at least 24/30 and the Table 1 credit minimums (112 ECTS in total: 24 mathematics, 14 physics/thermal engineering, 10 chemistry/materials, 6 computing/drawing, 5 applied geology, 15 hydraulics, 6 roads/railways/airports, 6 surveying/statistics, 8 geotechnics, 18 structural mechanics/design); a deficit of up to 18 ECTS gives additional educational obligations; with a deficit of 18-60 ECTS the missing credits must be acquired, wholly or partly, through curricular supplements before enrolment, more than 60 ECTS requires the bachelor in Civil Engineering first. Foreign-degree applicants: favourable Committee evaluation plus verification of the qualification's suitability; the bachelor must give access to EQF level 7, contain subjects closely related to the programme and meet the Admissions Office's country-specific minimum CGPA where one is set (for example India 70/100, China 80%, Turkey 3/4, Iran 15.5/20, Pakistan 3.3/4).
A.Y. 2027/28 (Admissions Office list 'updated for A.Y. 2027/2028'). English certification is required of all MSc applicants: TOEFL iBT / Home Edition at least 78 for tests taken until 20/01/2026 or at least 4.5 for tests taken from 21/01/2026 (paper-based at least 547, computer-based at least 210; Polimi TOEFL code 9795); TOEIC at least 785 Listening & Reading + 310 Speaking & Writing (from A.Y. 2027/28; the 720 L&R threshold applied to 2026/27 only); Cambridge Proficiency grade C, Advanced grade C or First grade B; IELTS Academic or General Training at least 6; Trinity ISE II; PTE Academic overall at least 59; Pearson PEIC overall at least 59; LanguageCert ESOL B2 Communicator (4 skills). Certificates considered expired by the issuing body are not accepted. Exemption: a bachelor taught in English for at least 3 years, proven by a university document confirming that at least 75% of the courses were taught in English. The certificate is not needed to submit the application and does not affect the evaluation, but it is mandatory for the admission letter, merit-based scholarships, the visa and enrolment (the programme regulations call English proficiency a prerequisite for enrolment). Italian: the Admissions Office requires an Italian B2 certificate (CLIQ institutions) from applicants to programmes 'taught in Italian and English'; this programme is officially 'Italian or English' with English-taught tracks (Geotechnical and Structural Engineering; the regulations add Water Engineering), and Polimi does not state whether applicants who follow an English track must provide the Italian certificate at application . International students in English-taught programmes must in any case prove Italian proficiency before graduating (Italian OFA).
None: no admission test and no portfolio for this programme (A.Y. 2026/27). Admission is decided by the programme's Admission Committee on the previous academic career and the adequacy of preparation (with automatic admission for qualifying Polimi continuity graduates); curricular integrations may be assigned. The GRE General Test is optional for Engineering applicants (no minimum score; Polimi code 0495).
Online application on Polimi Online Services (up to two MSc programmes per semester) and payment of the non-refundable application fee: EUR 50 early bird (1 October - 1 December) or EUR 150 afterwards (A.Y. 2026/27 amounts; the Admissions Office document list itself is undated, its certificate section is already updated for A.Y. 2027/28)

The A.Y. 2027/28 application calendar is not published yet; the dates shown are for A.Y. 2026/27 (in the 2026/27 cycle the first call for applicants with a foreign degree opened on 1 October 2025).
The academic requirements follow the A.Y. 2026/27 Teaching Regulations, which say they may change in later academic years.
Polimi asks applicants to programmes taught in Italian and English for an Italian B2 certificate, but does not state whether applicants who plan to follow an English-taught track must also provide it.
Official sources differ on which tracks are taught in English: the programme page names Geotechnics and Structures, while the A.Y. 2026/27 Teaching Regulations also list Water Engineering.
No credit table is published for foreign bachelor degrees; the Admission Committee assesses their suitability individually.
The list of accepted English certificates is the one published for A.Y. 2027/28; the application fees shown (EUR 50 early bird, EUR 150 afterwards) are the A.Y. 2026/27 amounts.
The date by which the English certificate must be uploaded after the application is submitted is not stated on the Admissions Office documents page.
The Universitaly visa pre-enrolment date for A.Y. 2027/28 is not published yet; for A.Y. 2026/27 Polimi strongly suggested that non-EU students admitted to the 1st semester submit the visa application on Universitaly by the end of June 2026.
The fees page linked here shows the A.Y. 2026/27 tuition amounts; the 2027/28 amounts are not published yet.
