A.Y. 2026/27 (programme page, programme website and Didactic Regulations 2026/27). A first-cycle degree (EQF level 6) or equivalent is required; where the background is evaluated, it must be a technical-scientific degree of at least three years and at least 180 ECTS. An Admission Committee evaluates the academic background (exams taken and grades) against the programme; the programme website expects records to include Calculus, Algebra, Statistics and probability, Physics, Object-oriented programming and Databases, and choosing the Computer Science track requires courses such as Software Engineering, Computer Architecture and Operating Systems. Automatic admission for candidates meeting the merit requirements whose degree includes at least 40 ECTS in mathematics/physics (MAT/01, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, FIS/01) and at least 10 ECTS in computer engineering (ING-INF/05); the same criteria apply to suitable foreign degrees when sectors and credits can be identified. Italian degrees: L-7, L-8 and L-9 graduates are assessed on merit only; Polimi L-7/L-8/L-9 graduates qualify with at least 100 ECTS and a weighted average of at least 24/30 by the end of the autumn session of their 2nd year and graduation within four academic years, or with a weighted average meeting a years-taken threshold table; graduates of other Italian universities need a weighted average of at least 24/30 and a positive Committee evaluation; other Polimi graduates are always evaluated; the Committee may require additional exams before enrolment and/or compulsory courses. Foreign degrees: valid first-level degree recognised in the awarding country (giving access to EQF level 7, obtained before enrolment), background adequate and consistent with the programme (the programme website names Computer Science Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geographic Information Science, Geomatics or Geoinformatics degrees as admissible), verification of the qualification and a positive Committee assessment, which may assign compulsory courses. Italian-degree applicants may apply as final-year students with 145 certified ECTS. Foreign-degree applicants must also meet Polimi's strict country-specific minimum CGPA where one is set (e.g. India 70/100, China 80%, Bangladesh 3.3/4).
A.Y. 2027/28 (Admissions Office list 'updated for A.Y. 2027/2028'). An English certificate is required for all MSc applicants: TOEFL iBT / TOEFL Home Edition at least 78 for tests taken until 20/01/2026 or at least 4.5 for tests taken from 21/01/2026 (paper-based at least 547, computer-based at least 210; Polimi TOEFL code 9795); TOEIC at least 785 Listening & Reading + at least 310 Speaking & Writing; Cambridge Proficiency or Advanced pass at grade C, First pass at grade B; IELTS Academic or General Training at least 6; Trinity College ISE II or higher; PTE Academic overall at least 59; Pearson PEIC overall at least 59; LanguageCert ESOL B2 Communicator (4 skills). Certificates considered expired by the issuing institution are not accepted. Exemption: a bachelor degree taught in English for at least 3 years, proven by a university document confirming that at least 75% of the courses were taught in English. For foreign-degree applicants the certificate is not needed to submit the application and does not affect the evaluation, but it is mandatory to obtain the admission letter, merit scholarships, the visa and to enrol (Italian-degree applicants must provide it in order to be accepted). No Italian certificate is needed for admission (English-taught programme); international students are enrolled with an Italian OFA and must prove Italian at B2 level before the final exam.

The minimum CGPA examples by country (India 70/100, China 80%, Bangladesh 3.3/4) come from Polimi's foreign-qualification requirements page; other countries have different minimums or none.
Polimi's 2026/27 programme regulations announce a new Master's admission model from A.Y. 2028/29; it does not apply to A.Y. 2026/27 or 2027/28.
