A.Y. 2026/27. Non-EU applicants living abroad with a foreign bachelor's degree: Engineering calls for the September 2026 intake only - 1st call 1 October - 1 December 2025 (11.59pm CET) and 2nd call 13 January - 26 February 2026 (11.59pm CET), outcomes by the end of May 2026; the 27 February - 31 March 2026 additional call is NOT open to them (only EEA students and non-EEA residents in Italy with a qualifying residence permit), and the February 2027 (2nd semester) intake does not apply to Architectural Engineering. Separate non-EU quota: 80 of the 95 places in 2026/27. Universitaly visa pre-enrolment: Polimi strongly suggests that students admitted to the 1st semester 2026/27 submit the Universitaly visa application by the end of June 2026 (validated only after graduation, upload of the final degree with proof of authenticity and a valid language certificate); national deadline to file the visa application at the Italian embassy/consulate: 30 November 2026 for A.Y. 2026/27 and 31 October 2027 for A.Y. 2027/28 (Polimi's own 2027/28 dates not yet published).
A.Y. 2026/27 (Teaching Regulations, which state that the requirements may change in later years). A bachelor's degree (Laurea) in Engineering or Architecture, with priority for classes L-23 (Building Sciences and Techniques), L-7 (Civil and Environmental Engineering) and L-17 (Architecture Sciences); other Italian or foreign qualifications are accepted where recognised as suitable. The programme's Admissions Committee verifies the curricular requirements and the adequacy of personal preparation; applicants are expected to have an adequate background in mathematics, building physics and related physical-technical subjects, mechanics and structural design, building technologies and basic building/built-environment design. Foreign-degree applicants: the programme awards up to 100 points (coherence of the previous curriculum up to 60, geographical area of origin up to 10, duration of university education up to 10, order of preferences up to 10, other supporting documents up to 10), weighted 50/50 with the International Projects Office (SPI) grade based on academic performance and quality of the institution; minimum 65/100; Admissions Office rules also apply (strict country-specific minimum CGPA; the degree must give access to EQF level 7). Italian-degree applicants: up to 100 points (bachelor average up to 50, coherence of the degree up to 30, duration of studies up to 10, order of preferences up to 10), minimum 65/100; final-year students may apply with at least 145 certified credits; no automatic admissions for 2026/27 and 2027/28.
A.Y. 2027/28 (Admissions Office list of accepted certificates, 'updated for A.Y. 2027/2028'). Certified English is required for admission to every Polimi MSc. Accepted certificates and minimum scores: TOEFL (Polimi code 9795) paper-based at least 547, computer-based at least 210, iBT and TOEFL Home Edition at least 78 for tests taken until 20/01/2026 or at least 4.5 (new scale) for tests taken from 21/01/2026; TOEIC at least 785 Listening & Reading plus at least 310 Speaking & Writing (from A.Y. 2027/28; the 720 L&R threshold applied to 2026/27 only); Cambridge Proficiency grade C, Advanced grade C or First grade B; IELTS Academic or General Training at least 6; Trinity ISE II; PTE Academic overall at least 59; Pearson PEIC overall at least 59; LanguageCert ESOL B2 Communicator (4 skills). Certificates considered expired by the issuing institution are not accepted. Exemption: a Bachelor's degree taught in English for at least 3 years, proven by a university document confirming that at least 75% of the courses were taught in English. Timing for foreign-degree applicants: the certificate is not needed to submit the online application and does not affect the evaluation, but it is mandatory to obtain the admission letter, merit scholarships, the visa and to enrol. Applicants with an Italian degree must provide it by the deadlines of the admission procedure. For Architectural Engineering the Teaching Regulations set a minimum of CEFR B2 English, mandatory for admission and enrolment. Italian: not an entry requirement for this English-taught programme; international students must demonstrate Italian knowledge (Polimi 40-hour course with at least 75% attendance and a final assessment) and reach at least B1 before registering for the final examination.
None: no admission test, no interview and no portfolio for Architectural Engineering (A.Y. 2026/27). Admission is decided by the programme's Admissions Committee on the previous academic career (points-based evaluation, minimum 65/100, see academic_requirements) plus the English certificate. The GRE General Test is optional for Engineering and Architecture applicants (no minimum score, Polimi code 0495).

Application dates, places, application fees and the programme's admission rules shown here are for A.Y. 2026/27; Politecnico di Milano has not yet published the 2027/28 Master of Science application calendar (in the 2026/27 cycle the first application window opened on 1 October 2025). The list of accepted English certificates is already the A.Y. 2027/28 version.
This programme requires Italian at level B1 before registering for the final examination, while Polimi's general page for international students mentions an Italian B2 certificate or a free Polimi Italian course with an exit test; the programme's own B1 rule is shown.
Polimi's advice on when to submit the Universitaly visa pre-enrolment is published for 2026/27 only (by the end of June 2026 for students admitted to the first semester); the advice for 2027/28 is not published yet.
