A.Y. 2026/27 (2027/28 not yet published). EU and equivalent applicants (40 places) apply by registering in Online Services for the TOLD in English (the only route into Interaction Design
EUR 35 fee) and sitting it in person in a Politecnico computer room within the single window 14 March - 14 May 2026 (one attempt; each test date closes when its seats are full). Rankings are published from 10:30 CEST: 1st ranking 8 June 2026 - enrol by 23:59 CEST on 10 June 2026 (expression of interest in the next ranking by 11:59 CEST on 11 June)

A.Y. 2026/27 (2027/28 not yet published). Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a study visa (reserved contingent: 10 places, no 'Marco Polo' places) follow the same TOLD route and deadlines as EU applicants but are ranked separately: register in Online Services for the TOLD in English (EUR 35) and sit it in person in a Politecnico computer room within the single window 14 March - 14 May 2026 (passport required on the test day); rankings from 8 June 2026 (enrol by 23:59 CEST on 10 June 2026), then 15, 22 and 29 June and 6 July 2026 (enrol by 17 June, 24 June, 1 July and 8 July 2026); second phase: preferences 1-3 September 2026, ranking 7 September, enrolment 7-9 September 2026. Universitaly visa pre-enrolment (separate step): as soon as possible and in any case by 31 August 2026; Polimi validates it only after the test is passed, the final diploma and the last three years' grades are uploaded and the English requirement is verified. Visa application at the Italian embassy/consulate by 30 November 2026 (national deadline).
High school diploma with at least 12 years of education; foreign qualifications may need additional verification, foundation course, CIMEA/DoV, or country-specific checks. Admission test participation requirements also apply.

For English-taught Laurea programmes, applicants must demonstrate English before enrolment. Accepted routes include English-official citizenship, qualification obtained in English, or recognised certification such as TOEFL iBT >= 59, IELTS >= 5, or Cambridge B2 First Grade C, subject to official validity rules.
A.Y. 2026/27 (2027/28 windows not yet published): TOLD (Test del Design) in English - the only test for Interaction Design; English-TOLD candidates express no preferences and compete only for this programme. Taken in person in Politecnico di Milano computer rooms, single window 14 March - 14 May 2026, one attempt only, registration fee EUR 35 via Online Services. 60 multiple-choice questions (5 options each) in 70 minutes: geometry and representation 12, logic 6, verbal comprehension 6, history of design and art 12, general culture 24 (no English section in the English test). Scoring: +1 correct, -0.25 wrong, 0 blank, weighted maximum 90.00. To enter the ranking a candidate needs the minimum correct answers per section (geometry and representation 2, logic 1, verbal comprehension 1, history of art and design 2, general culture 5) and a weighted total of at least 27.00/90 (EU and equivalent) or 18.00/90 (non-EU reserved contingent).

The TOLD is taken in person in Politecnico di Milano computer rooms; the official pages do not say at which campus the English test dates are held.
