A.Y. 2026/27 (the 2027/28 calendar is not published yet). Non-EU applicants living abroad with a foreign degree apply in Politecnico di Milano's Architecture and Design general call: 1 October 2025 - 29 January 2026 (11.59pm CET), early bird deadline 1 December 2025 (application fee EUR 50; EUR 150 from 2 December); outcomes by the end of May 2026. The additional call of 27 February - 31 March 2026 is open only to EEA students and non-EEA residents in Italy. Design programmes admit students only in the 1st semester (no February intake). No programme-specific exception is published. Places 2026/27: 100, of which 50 reserved for extra-EU students. Universitaly: Polimi strongly suggests that students admitted to the 1st semester 2026/27 submit the Universitaly visa application by the end of June 2026 (national deadline to file the visa at the Italian embassy/consulate for 2026/27: 30 November 2026).

Admissible bachelor degrees (EQF 6): classes L-4 Industrial Design, L-17 Architectural Sciences, L-8 Information Engineering, L-9 Industrial Engineering, L-31 Computer Science and Technologies; other degrees only with at least 36 ECTS in the sectors CEAR-08/D (formerly ICAR/13) and 09/IINF-05 (formerly ING-INF/05). With curricular deficiencies the Committee may require additional coursework (single courses; at most 2 curricular-integration places for this programme in 2026/27) before assessing individual preparation. Weighted average of at least 23/30 for Politecnico di Milano graduates and at least 25/30 for graduates of other Italian universities, checked before the assessment. Final-year bachelor students may apply with at least 145 CFU and must graduate by 15 December 2026. Foreign-degree applicants: a bachelor (EQF 6) or equivalent consistent with design, architecture, engineering or information technologies, with coursework equivalent to at least 36 ECTS in CEAR-08/D and 09/IINF-05; where the sectors cannot be matched the Programme Board evaluates the record and may assign additional requirements; the degree must give access to EQF level 7 and Politecnico di Milano's country-specific minimum CGPA applies where listed (e.g. Turkey 3 out of 4). Admission then depends on the assessment of individual preparation (portfolio, CV, motivation letter, academic documents) and the position in the merit ranking.

A.Y. 2026/27. No written admission test and no interview is published. Assessment of individual preparation by a programme Committee based on the portfolio (or thesis abstract), CV, motivation letter, study plan (non-Polimi candidates) and academic record, followed by a merit ranking on limited places (100 places, 50 reserved for non-EU students). Point scale published on the programme page (Italian-degree route) and in the School of Design guide: portfolio / thesis abstract max 50 points (minimum 30 for a positive evaluation), CV max 20 points, weighted average max 30 points, plus a 5-point bonus for the first-choice Master's programme within the School of Design; Italian-degree results on 31 July 2026. Foreign-degree applicants are assessed through the Polimi international procedure (outcomes by the end of May 2026); no point scale is published for them. The optional GRE is only for Engineering and Architecture applicants.

  • The list of accepted English certificates is the one published for A.Y. 2027/28.
  • Official sources differ on when the English certificate is needed: the Admissions Office requires it for the admission letter, visa and enrolment but not to submit a foreign-degree application, while the programme regulations and the School of Design guide ask for it when applying.
  • A points scale is published only for applicants with an Italian degree; no scale is published for applicants with a foreign degree.
