BOZEN-BOLZANO MAIN CAMPUS ONLY — a single-site, single-country programme. Brochure 'At a glance': 'Campus: Bozen-Bolzano'. Address: Universitätsplatz 1 / piazza Università 1, 39100 Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. NOT at NOI Techpark Bolzano, NOT at Brixen-Bressanone, NOT at Bruneck-Brunico, and unlike EMMA (Bolzano + Innsbruck) or the Master in Energy Engineering (Bolzano + Trento) there is NO second-university or second-country year. Everything — all four semesters, the thesis and the defence — happens in Bozen-Bolzano. THE PHYSICAL SETUP IS THE PROGRAMME'S DEFINING ASSET and is described at length by unibz: 'The spacious and sunny ateliers are open spaces for creative development and collaboration. Here you work in teams on your projects, in constant exchange with other students and the teachers.' WORKSHOPS, verbatim: 'Our superbly equipped workshops offer a wide range of technologies for your design work, such as workshops for wood, metal, plastic, materials, digital modelling, plaster and mold making, surface treatment, printing (screen, tampon and high pressure), paper and bookbinding, photography, video and access to the Fab Lab BITZ.' Workshop access is gated: 'To attend them, you must first complete the mandatory safety training (Work Safety – Machinery Hazard – Chemical Risk), as required by current regulations. In the first semester, you will attend introductory workshop courses, which are compulsory to access the specialised ones. From the second semester onwards, you must choose and attend at least one specialised workshop.' ATTENDANCE: the 2026/27 documents state no general compulsory-attendance rule for lectures, but workshop attendance IS mandatory ('Workshop courses do not carry credits, but attendance is mandatory') and seminar attendance is mandatory ('Attendance of the seminars is compulsory and foresees a pass/fail test'). Because the degree is built on studio projects with external partners, it is in practice a full-time, physically present programme — there is no distance or part-time variant. MOBILITY: 'Currently we offer exchange programmes with partner universities all over the world and we are part of a large network of collaboration with employers in Italy and abroad where you can undertake your internship. However, this study programme does not require a compulsory internship.'

Kabul Tipi

RESTRICTED ACCESS (numero programmato), decided by a TWO-STAGE, PORTFOLIO-AND-INTERVIEW selection. This is a creative-practice admission, not an academic-record admission — and that is the single most important structural fact about it. NOT USED: no TOLC, no CENT-S, no SAT, no GRE, no GMAT, no unibz written entrance exam, no motivation letter, no reference letters, no video presentation, no Excel study-career template, and — remarkably — no scoring of the bachelor grade at all. USED: a portfolio, a two-page illustrated project proposal, a CV, and an online interview. THE PROCEDURE, verbatim from the admission-information PDF: 'The admission procedure includes two stages. Stage 1: Evaluation of the documents. The first step is an evaluation of the documents that must be uploaded by the respective application deadline. Selection criteria of stage 1: Portfolio: max 20 points; outline of a project proposal: max 20 points. In order to be eligible for the second stage, you must have obtained at least 20 points.' Then: 'Stage 2: Interview. Max. 20 points. The second stage consists in an online interview designed to have a dialogue to get a deeper understanding on the candidate's ideas, experiences, motivations and points of view.' And: 'Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 30/60 total points to be eligible for the enrolment.' The signed ranking list restates the same structure and adds the gate wording used in the published exclusion tables: applicants 'were not eligible to the second stage of the admission procedure as they did not reach 20/40 points'. SO THERE ARE THREE SEQUENTIAL FILTERS: (1) an ELIGIBILITY CHECK on the entry qualification (Italian degree class or 10 design-sector ECTS, or a committee assessment of a foreign career) AND on English B2 — failing either removes you before scoring; (2) a STAGE-1 GATE at 20/40 on portfolio + project proposal; (3) a FINAL THRESHOLD of 30/60 after the interview, below which you are excluded even if places remain (this actually happened in 2026/27: non-EU applicant 154552 scored 28 and was excluded although the non-EU quota of 10 was not filled). TIE-BREAK, verbatim: 'In the event of equal total points, priority shall be given in the following order: score obtained for the draft project proposal; score obtained for the interview; score obtained for the portfolio. Only in case of equal scores, the youngest candidate will be chosen.' Note the ordering: the PROJECT PROPOSAL outranks the portfolio in a tie — the two-page document a candidate writes for this application is treated as more diagnostic than years of accumulated work. Applications go through the unibz Application Portal at https://aws.unibz.it/exup. 'Once the application has been sent, it cannot be modified.' 'Mendacious declarations will be criminally prosecuted and will result in the automatic exclusion from the ranking list.' STABILITY: this exact procedure — same stages, same 20/20/20 split, same 20/40 gate, same 30/60 pass mark, same tie-break order — is already present in the archived 2022/23 admission PDF. It is one of the most stable admission procedures at unibz and is unlikely to change for 2027/28.

Resmî Eğitim Dili

FULLY AND EXCLUSIVELY ENGLISH — this is NOT one of unibz's trilingual programmes, and it is more monolingual than most of unibz's other 'English-taught' masters. Brochure 'At a glance', verbatim: 'Courses will be taught in: English'. Admission-information PDF, verbatim: 'The official teaching language is English.' VERIFIED AT COURSE LEVEL, not just at marketing level: the official course-offering page for the cohort 'enrolled after 2025' lists every single course with language tag EN — Design & Materials, Information Design & Visual Storytelling, Political Ecology, Eco-social Economics, Moderation & Participation, Design & Production, Media Studies, Social Studies of Design and Culture, Environmental Anthropology, Service and Policy Design, Emancipatory Digital Transformation, Project 1, Project 2, the Thesis Project Phase 1 variants and all seminars. No course is offered in Italian or German. The only admission language requirement is English B2. There is NO German and NO Italian requirement at entry. The application itself, the project proposal, the portfolio, the CV and the interview are all in English: 'curriculum vitae in English (pdf)'; 'The required language is English'; 'portfolio in English (pdf)'. ONE INTERNAL LANGUAGE ELEMENT: the study plan contains a compulsory 3 CP course 'English 1 – Language Course' delivered by the unibz Language Centre — i.e. English is not only the medium but also a small assessed component of the degree. CONTRAST WITH SISTER PROGRAMMES: the Bachelor in Design and Art in the same faculty is trilingual (IT/DE/EN) and therefore effectively closed to English-only applicants; Eco-Social Design is the faculty's fully English route. PRACTICAL NUANCE, not a formal requirement: Bozen-Bolzano is an officially bilingual German/Italian city and the programme's projects are deliberately grounded in the local territory — 'you do a project starting off from a given local and provincial context', with 'external partners you choose' (NGOs, cooperatives, craft businesses, public bodies). Fieldwork, co-design sessions and stakeholder interviews in South Tyrol will frequently involve German- or Italian-speaking partners even though all teaching, supervision and assessment are in English. German or Italian is therefore useful for project quality and for daily life, but is never required to be admitted or to graduate.

  • TWO SESSIONS ONLY FOR EU AND PARITY-OF-TREATMENT APPLICANTS IN 2026/27 — there is NO Additional Application Session for this programme (see below), which distinguishes it from most other unibz masters.
  • SESSION 1 — EARLY BIRD APPLICATION, verbatim: 'Application: 02/03 - 28/04/2026 (by noon local time)'. ISO: 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026, 12:00 local (CEST) on the closing day. Open to EU citizens, citizens given parity of treatment, AND non-EU citizens living abroad.
  • SESSION 2 — LATE APPLICATION, verbatim: 'Late Application (only for EU citizens) — Application: 28/05 - 02/07/2026 (by noon local time)'. ISO: 28 Mayıs 2026 to 2 Temmuz 2026, 12:00 local. Restricted to EU citizens and those treated as equivalent; non-EU applicants living abroad are barred.

AB / AEA dışı adaylar

ONE WINDOW ONLY, AND IT IS THE EARLY BIRD WINDOW. Verbatim: 'Non-EU-Citizens (living outside of Italy) — Only one application period is offered. After the deadline it is not possible to apply anymore. Application fee: € 50.' THE WINDOW for 2026/27 was the Early Bird one: 'Application: 02/03 - 28/04/2026 (by noon local time)' — ISO 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026, 12:00 local (CEST). The Late Application session is labelled 'only for EU citizens' and is closed to non-EU applicants living abroad, and the Additional Application Session does not include this programme at all. A non-EU applicant living abroad therefore has exactly ONE chance per academic year, with no second session and no recovery — in sharp contrast to EU applicants, for whom a failed Early Bird can be converted into a Late admission. PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCE FOR THE LANGUAGE GATE: because there is no second session, a non-EU applicant who mishandles the English evidence loses the entire year. The language-exam sittings available to them are only the Early Bird ones — 16/03/2026 (registration 02–09/03/2026) and 16–17 and 20–21/04/2026 (registration 24/03–08/04/2026) — so the language question must be resolved in the first weeks of March, not in late April. WHO COUNTS AS NON-EU LIVING ABROAD: everyone who is not an EU citizen and does not hold one of the qualifying Italian residence permits — see parity_of_treatment. Crucially: 'Please note that if you do not upload the permit in the application portal, you will be automatically considered a non-EU citizen living abroad and therefore subject to the admission procedure through the Italian authorities in your country of origin.' AFTER ADMISSION, verbatim: 'Once the ranking list has been published, if you have gained admission, secure it by paying the first instalment and then start your visa application on the Universitaly portal. The application on Universitaly is mandatory, otherwise you will not be allowed to enrol. On Universitaly you can apply for one study programme only.' SO THE NON-EU 2026/27 CHAIN IS: apply by 28/04/2026 noon → interview 14/05/2026 → ranking list by 27/05/2026 (published signed on 18/05/2026) → pay the € 600 first instalment by 05/06/2026 noon → Universitaly pre-enrolment → consulate visa → enrol by 13/10/2026 noon → residence permit within 8 working days of arrival. COMPETITION IN 2026/27: 10 places advertised, only 9 admitted (the 10th place was left empty rather than admit an applicant on 28/60), with admitted scores of 55, 52, 51, 48, 42, 41, 37, 37, 32 and fourteen further applicants eliminated at the 20/40 stage-1 gate. Non-EU applicants therefore faced a much weaker field than EU Early Bird applicants (whose cut-off was 44) — the binding constraint for non-EU candidates is meeting the 30/60 absolute threshold, not out-competing the field. HISTORICAL: the same single-window rule applied in 2022/23, when the fee was € 30 and 9 non-EU places were offered.

Kabul koşulları

Akademik geçmiş
  • THREE ROUTES, AND THE THIRD IS DELIBERATELY WIDE. Admission-information PDF and signed ranking list, verbatim: 'In order to gain admission to this programme you need a bachelor degree in one of the following Italian degree classes: M.D. 270/04: L-4 Disegno industriale; L-17 Scienze dell’Architettura; L-21 Scienze della pianificazione territoriale, urbanistica, paesaggistica e ambientale. M.D. 509/99: 42 Disegno industriale; 04 Scienze dell’architettura e dell’ingegneria edile; 07 Urbanistica e scienza della pianificazione territoriale, urbanistica, paesaggistica e ambientale. If you have another Italian degree, you need 10 credit points in the following scientific disciplinary sectors: ICAR/13 Industrial Design; ICAR/14 Architectural and Urban Composition; ICAR/15 Landscape Design; ICAR/16 Interior and Decorative Architecture; ICAR/17 Representation of Architecture; ICAR/21 Urban design and landscape; L-ART/06 Cinema, photography and television; ING-INF/05 Information processing systems; INF-01 Informatics. If you have a degree from the Italian old system (prior to D.M. 509/99), or a title from another degree, or a degree obtained abroad, the selection committee will examine your career to determine your eligibility for admission.'
  • ROUTE 1 — direct Italian classes L-4 / L-17 / L-21 (or the 509/99 equivalents 42 / 04 / 07). ROUTE 2 — any other Italian degree plus just 10 ECTS in the listed design/architecture/planning/media/informatics sectors. TEN credits is an extraordinarily low bar by unibz standards: the Master in Energy Engineering demands 85 ECTS across three blocks and EMMA demands 50. Ten ECTS is one or two courses. This is a deliberate design choice — the programme wants activists, anthropologists, engineers and economists who have touched design, and it filters them on portfolio rather than on transcript. ROUTE 3 — FOREIGN DEGREES ARE HANDLED BY HUMAN JUDGEMENT, not by a credit table: 'the selection committee will examine your career to determine your eligibility for admission.' There is no published ECTS threshold, no published mapping of foreign subjects onto Italian SSD codes, and no self-service way to verify eligibility. An older wording, from the archived 2022/23 PDF, gives the most useful plain-English gloss of what the committee is looking for and is worth reading: a degree of another class 'can be valued as adequate if, during your study career and before the beginning of the admission procedure, you have gained 10 credit points in the following fields: Design, Architecture and Spatial Planning, Landscape architecture, Interior Design, Cinema, Photography or Informatics. A commission checks the validity and equivalence of the credit points.' THE SSD LIST IS INTERNALLY INCONSISTENT AND PARTLY OBSOLETE. Eight of the nine codes are PRE-2024 codes (ICAR/13, ICAR/14, ICAR/15, ICAR/16, ICAR/17, ICAR/21, L-ART/06, ING-INF/05), while one — 'INF-01 Informatics' — is a POST-2024 reform code. unibz has evidently patched one entry without migrating the rest. Under the 2024 reform the old ICAR design and planning sectors map broadly onto the new CEAR-xx/x family (architecture, urbanism, drawing/representation) and ING-INF/05 maps to the new informatics/information-processing codes, but unibz publishes no crosswalk for this programme. An applicant whose Italian transcript carries only new-format codes should ask the Faculty Secretariat to confirm the correspondence in writing before applying. A ROUTE THAT DISAPPEARED FROM THE PRINTED LIST. The archived 2022/23 admission PDF explicitly admitted holders of an Italian 'Diploma Accademico di primo livello' from the Accademie di Belle Arti and the Istituti Superiori per le Industrie Artistiche, naming DAPL03 Scuola di decorazione, DAPL04 Scuola di grafica, DAPL05 Scuola di scenografia, DAPL06 Scuola di progettazione artistica per l’impresa, DAPL08 Scuola di nuove tecnologie dell’arte, DIPL01 Scuola di progettazione grafica ed editoriale and DIPL02 Scuola di Design. The 2026/27 documents no longer name them. Because AFAM first-level diplomas are legally equipollent to a bachelor degree in Italy, such candidates almost certainly still qualify through the catch-all committee route — but they are no longer guaranteed a place on the printed list and should confirm with the Faculty Secretariat.
  • NOT YET GRADUATED: 'You can apply, but you will be admitted conditionally and need to submit your diploma by the enrolment deadline.' No minimum number of credits already earned is imposed — there is no '≥120 ECTS' rule as in some unibz masters.
Dil yeterliliği
  • ONE REQUIREMENT AND ONE ONLY: ENGLISH AT B2 (CEFR) TO GAIN ADMISSION. Verbatim from the admission-information PDF: 'The official teaching language is English. Therefore, the following language requirements apply, otherwise you will be excluded from the admission procedure: Entry level (to gain admission) English: B2. The levels of the Common European Framework of Reference apply.' There is NO German requirement, NO Italian requirement, NO third-language B1 threshold, and no exit level stated in the 2026/27 documents (see exit_levels for an important historical caveat). This is the lightest language profile available at unibz.
  • THE GATE IS A HARD KNOCK-OUT AND IS THE MOST LETHAL FILTER IN THIS PROGRAMME'S ADMISSION. Failure to prove B2 removes you before your portfolio is scored, regardless of how good it is. In the signed 2026/27 Early Bird ranking list, NINE EU/parity applicants were listed under: 'The following persons do not meet the language requirements for admission and are therefore excluded from the admission procedure. They may re-apply in the second session.' — IDs 150498, 149844, 140507, 145298, 153713, 154365, 155633, 155035, 156074. Against roughly 40 documented EU applicants competing for 15 places, that is about 22% lost on paperwork. By comparison EMMA lost about 5% the same way. The non-EU list confirms the same mechanism: applicants outside the ranking 'were excluded from the admission procedure because they did not meet the admission requirements (language and/or study title)'. IT IS RECOVERABLE: ID 140507, language-excluded in Early Bird, was admitted at rank 5 in the Late round.
  • WHERE AND HOW TO PROVE IT: in the Application Portal, under 'upload language certificates' and/or 'enrol for language exams', and — critically — those sections 'become available after you have created an application in the section create/manage applications'. So the sequence is: create the application first, then handle the language evidence. ADMINISTRATIVE FORM, verbatim: 'In case your final certificate has been awarded by an Italian public institution, you need to submit a self-declaration. In case your final certificate has been awarded by a foreign public institution, you need to upload diploma scanned copy of the original.' FALLBACK DELIVERY, verbatim: 'If you cannot upload the certificates, you can send them by e-mail as PDF files or deliver them in person to the Language Centre by the application deadline.'
Sınav / değerlendirme

NO WRITTEN OR STANDARDISED ENTRANCE EXAM OF ANY KIND. Specifically absent from all 2026/27 documents: no unibz admission test, no TOLC (TOLC-I, TOLC-E, TOLC-S), no CENT-S, no SAT, no GRE, no GMAT, no subject test, and no mathematics or logic test. Selection is made entirely from uploaded creative work plus an interview — see admission_type, selection_scoring and interview. THE ONLY EXAM AN APPLICANT MIGHT SIT is the ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EXAM run by the unibz Language Centre, and only if they cannot prove B2 English by medium of instruction or by a recognised certificate. It is held ONLINE. 2026/27 sittings and registration windows, verbatim from the admission-information PDF: EARLY BIRD — 'Language exams (online): 16/03/2026 (registration: 02 - 09/03/2026) and 16 - 17 and 20 - 21/04/2026 (registration: 24/03 - 08/04/2026)'; LATE — 'Language exams (online): 22 - 26/06/2026 (registration: 28/05 - 15/06/2026)'. Note that this programme's Late window offers only ONE language-exam block (22–26/06/2026), whereas some other unibz programmes also list a July sitting — Eco-Social Design's Late application closes on 02/07/2026 and no July exam is offered for it. PROCEDURAL TRAP, verbatim: 'If you start your application outside a language exams registration period, you must return to the portal during one of the periods indicated above in order to register for an exam.' Registration is a separate act from applying, it happens inside the Application Portal under 'enrol for language exams', and it only becomes available after an application has been created under 'create/manage applications'. Given that nine EU applicants were excluded on language in the 2026/27 Early Bird round, this sequencing is the most consequential piece of administrative fine print in the whole procedure. The one further assessed event in the admission process is the online INTERVIEW (14/05/2026 for Early Bird, 15/07/2026 for Late), which is a dialogue rather than an examination — see interview.

Hazırlanacak belgeler

    • FIVE THINGS, AND NOTABLY NO EXCEL TEMPLATE. Verbatim, 'The following documents need to be uploaded in the application portal', plus the ID required at account creation.
    • (0) ID AT ACCOUNT CREATION: 'You need to create an account and upload a valid ID card or passport (front/back). Please note: if your document is invalid, incomplete or unreadable, you will be excluded from the admission procedure.'
    • (1) ACADEMIC BACKGROUND, verbatim and in full because the required contents are unusually specific: 'if graduated in Italy: diploma supplement or substitute-declaration (following the Italian D.P.R. no. 445/2000) of the degree awarded, final grade, exams passed with corresponding grade, the dates in which the exams were passed, the credit points, the subject areas, and the teaching hours; if graduated abroad: diploma supplement or final degree certificate issued by the foreign university (to be translated into English if in a language other than Italian, German or English) detailing the final mark, exams passed as well as corresponding grades, the dates in which the exams were passed, the credit points, and the teaching hours. A description of the contents of single courses is recommended; it is advisable to attach a declaration of value or similar document by the university with the indication of the lowest grade needed in order to achieve the degree as well as the highest mark obtainable; if not graduated yet: please upload the list of your passed exams.' TWO ITEMS FOREIGN APPLICANTS ROUTINELY OMIT AND SHOULD NOT: TEACHING HOURS per exam (needed for the committee to judge the 10-ECTS design-sector equivalence) and the DECLARATION OF VALUE stating the lowest passing grade and the highest obtainable grade. For a Turkish transcript that means supplying the registrar's grading-scale page (e.g. minimum 2.00 to graduate on a 4.00 maximum) rather than a self-written note, plus course descriptions/syllabi in English.

  • DATA VINTAGE: everything here reflects the 2026/27 admission cycle, from documents stamped 'Latest update: 15.07.2026' and from two signed ranking lists protocolled 18/05/2026 and 16/07/2026. Verified on 29 Ağustos 2026. The 2026/27 cycle is CLOSED — both application windows have expired, both ranking lists are published, and this programme is not in the Additional Application Session. A new applicant is targeting 2027/28, for which NO dates, NO quotas and NO documents exist yet. Everything time-sensitive below must be re-verified against the 2027/28 admission-information PDF when unibz publishes it (historically around December–February). 1. EXIT LANGUAGE LEVEL — THE MOST IMPORTANT OPEN QUESTION. The 2026/27 documents state no exit level. The archived 2022/23 admission PDF for the same programme stated 'Exit level (to graduate) English: C1'. unibz publishes nothing explaining whether the requirement was abolished or simply dropped from a redesigned template. The study plan still contains a compulsory 3 CP 'English 1 – Language Course', which cuts both ways. An admitted student must confirm this in writing with design-art@unibz.it and the Language Centre. 2. SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS UNVERIFIED. The provincial study grant is widely cited at roughly € 1,680–€ 6,960 per year, but that range could not be confirmed from a live unibz or provincial page during this research (unibz's study-grants page links out without figures; a direct scholarships URL returned 404). Treat the band as indicative only. The residence condition for non-EU students is confirmed and is the decisive fact. 3. THE SSD LIST IS INTERNALLY INCONSISTENT. Eight codes are pre-2024 (ICAR/13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21; L-ART/06; ING-INF/05) and one is post-2024 ('INF-01 Informatics'). unibz publishes no crosswalk to the new CEAR-xx/x and informatics codes for this programme. Applicants with new-format Italian transcripts should get written confirmation of the correspondence. 4. THE ACCADEMIE DI BELLE ARTI / ISIA ROUTE VANISHED FROM THE PRINTED LIST. Named explicitly in 2022/23 (DAPL03, DAPL04, DAPL05, DAPL06, DAPL08, DIPL01, DIPL02), absent in 2026/27. Such candidates most likely still qualify via the committee catch-all, but this is inference, not a published rule. 5. DEGREE-CLASS TYPOS IN THE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS. The admission PDF's double-enrolment clause cites 'LM-69/LM-69' and the signed ranking list cites 'LM-18/LM-18'; the correct example for this programme is LM-12/LM-12. Neither document ever prints it correctly. 6. THE NON-EU RANKING LIST IS NOT IN SCORE ORDER. Rank 3 carries 48 and rank 4 carries 51 in the signed Early Bird list. One of the two columns contains an error that unibz does not annotate. 7. FOUNDING YEAR. The 2015/16 start is sourced from the programme's own blog ('10 years of Eco-Social Design') and third-party listings; unibz publishes no founding date in any official document. 8. INTERVIEW MECHANICS UNPUBLISHED. Duration, format (panel or single interviewer), commission composition, platform, whether the portfolio is presented live, and time-zone accommodation for overseas candidates are all unstated. 9. GRADE STATISTICS LACK A REFERENCE PERIOD. The LM-12 exam and graduation distributions carry no stated cohort range or sample size; the graduation percentages imply roughly 52 graduates, but unibz does not say over how many years. 10. WHAT CHANGED IN THE 2025 STUDY-PLAN REVISION IS NOT PUBLISHED. unibz maintains separate 'enrolled after 2025' and 'enrolled before 2025' course offerings without a changelog. 11. FACULTY REGULATIONS NOT READ. The LM-12 regolamento didattico on records-unibz.siavcloud.com refused automated retrieval (HTTP 403). Binding academic rules — including any graduation language condition, attendance obligations and thesis regulations — live there and were not inspected. 12. IELTS/TOEFL BAND MAPPING RECONSTRUCTED. The certificate PDF's five-column table extracts out of order; the B2/C1 bands cited here are reconstructed from the internally consistent TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge rows. A candidate at a boundary (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 72) should get written confirmation. Duolingo does not appear in the list at all and must be assumed unrecognised. 13. MATERIALS AND WORKSHOP COSTS UNPUBLISHED. A workshop-intensive design master with no published figure for consumables, prototyping, printing or software. The € 1,200 covers tuition only. 14. NUMBERS EXCLUDED BEFORE THE RANKING ARE UNKNOWN. Both lists end with 'Applicants not included in the ranking list were excluded from the admission procedure because they did not meet the admission requirements', without counts. The ~83 documented applicants for 2026/27 are therefore a LOWER BOUND on the true applicant pool. 15. RANKING LISTS ARE EPHEMERAL. Prior-year files return 404 and 'are only valid for the respective academic year'. The 2026/27 competition data captured here will disappear from unibz's servers. 16. NO CONFLICTS FOUND BETWEEN THE PROGRAMME PAGE, THE BROCHURE AND THE ADMISSION PDF. Unusually for unibz, the HTML page reproduces the admission PDF verbatim and the brochure is a strict superset of it. Where this record cites a figure, all available sources agreed. The only cross-source discrepancies are the two degree-class typos and the non-EU rank/score ordering, both noted above. 17. NO COMMUNITY OR APPLICANT-EXPERIENCE SOURCES FOUND. Searches across Reddit and general forums for first-hand accounts of this programme's portfolio, proposal or interview returned nothing usable; the only substantive non-unibz sources are aggregator listings (Mastersportal, educations.com) which merely restate the official text, and the programme's own blog. All admission findings in this record therefore rest on unibz primary documents.
  • Programme page link note: PRIMARY: https://www.unibz.it/en/faculties/design-art/master-eco-social-design — the official English programme page, Faculty of Design and Art. It carries the course description, the 'At a glance' box, the semester-by-semester narrative, the study-plan widget, facilities and workshops, career opportunities, the People block (Degree course director Prof. Secil Ugur Yavuz; Student Representative Marieke Kathrin Schäfer) and a complete inline copy of the Application and Admission section that matches the admission-information PDF word for word. • Call for applications link note: THERE IS NO SEPARATE 'CALL' OR 'BANDO' DOCUMENT FOR THIS PROGRAMME. unibz does not publish a distinct admission call PDF for the Master in Eco-Social Design; the governing published instruments are, in descending authority: (1) THE SIGNED RANKING LISTS, which are the formal administrative acts — they carry a protocol number, the President's digital signature and the binding admission criteria: Early Bird — https://www.unibz.it/assets/Documents/Ranking-Lists/2026-Early-Bird/Ranking-List-Master-in-Eco-Social-Design-Early-Bird-2026_27_signed.pdf ('Prot. 0014922/26 - 18/05/2026', signed by the President Prof. Christian Krois); Late — https://www.unibz.it/assets/Documents/Ranking-Lists/2026-Late-application/Ranking-List-Master-in-Eco-Social-Design-Late-Session-sign.pdf ('Prot. 0020920/26 - 16/07/2026'). Each opens with an 'ADMISSION CRITERIA' section reproducing the entry classes, the SSD list and the two-stage scoring, followed by 'CONFIRMATION OF STUDY PLACE AND ENROLMENT', 'ENROLMENT WITH QUALIFICATIONS GAINED ABROAD' and 'INFORMATION FOR NON-EU CITIZENS LIVING ABROAD'. (2) THE ADMISSION-INFORMATION PDF, which functions as the call in practice: https://www.unibz.it/assets/CoursesPDF/master-in-eco-social-design_admission-information_en_GB.pdf (3) THE RANKING-LISTS INDEX, where lists are published and where the programme appears under the heading 'Masters': https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/ranking-lists/ (4) THE APPLICATION PORTAL, where the application is actually made: https://aws.unibz.it/exup (5) THE ADDITIONAL APPLICATION SESSION PAGE, relevant here because it shows the programme is ABSENT from it: https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/additional-application-session/ (2026/27 window 18 August – 4 September; of the Design and Art masters only Critical Creative Practices participates). (6) FACULTY REGULATIONS (regolamenti didattici) for the Faculty of Design and Art, including the LM-12 study regulations, are hosted on unibz's records system at https://records-unibz.siavcloud.com/regolamenti_en?area=FACULTY%20OF%20DESIGN%20AND%20ART&priority=02&orderasc=sub_area, with the official notice board at https://records-unibz.siavcloud.com/albo_online_en. [uncertain] That records system refused automated retrieval during this research (HTTP 403), so the LM-12 regolamento didattico could not be read; it should be consulted directly in a browser for the binding academic regulations, including any graduation language condition (see exit_levels). (7) HISTORICAL COMPARATOR used in this record, the archived 2022/23 admission-information PDF: https://web.archive.org/web/20220302073643/https://www.unibz.it/assets/CoursesPDF/master-in-eco-social-design_admission-information_en_GB.pdf
  • Tuition and fees link note: APPROXIMATELY € 1,200 PER YEAR — among the cheapest design masters in Western Europe, and the same flat figure unibz charges across almost all its programmes. Brochure 'At a glance': 'Tuition fees: ca. € 1200 per year'. Admission-information PDF, verbatim: 'Fees amount to € 1200. 1st instalment (€ 600): includes the revenue stamp of € 16. 2nd instalment (€ 600): must be paid by March of the following year.' The signed ranking list confirms the first instalment is what secures the place: 'The first instalment of tuition fees amounts to € 600.00', payable 'within 5 June 2026, 12 (midday)' for Early Bird admits and by 06/08/2026 for Late admits. FULL RULES: https://guide.unibz.it/en/study-career/general-information/fees DETAIL FROM THE CENTRAL FEES PAGE FOR 2026/27: students within the normal course duration plus one year pay € 600 by 13 October 2026 and € 600 by 31 March 2027. From the SECOND year beyond the normal duration the first instalment rises to € 900 (a € 300 surcharge) with the second instalment remaining € 600 — so a student who takes more than three years over this two-year master pays € 1,500 in that year. Late payment of the second instalment 'will result in a fine (30 Euro) being levied', and the account is blocked: 'If you have not paid the tuition fees, you will be unable to take exams and will not be able to transfer to other universities or other study programmes.' Students who graduate by 31 October avoid the new year's fees; those graduating by 31 March pay only the € 16 stamp duty. NO REFUNDS: 'If you drop out of a programme, interrupt your studies or are excluded from studies, you are not entitled to reimbursement of the fees.' The only exception is a non-EU applicant living abroad who pays the first instalment and then fails to obtain the documents needed for enrolment from the Italian authorities. EXEMPTIONS, verbatim: 'Exemption from the tuition fees is granted to: Students with a disability recognized under article 3, paragraph 1, of Law No 104/1992, or with a disability up to or exceeding 66%: the disability certificate, issued by the health authorities, must be handed in at the beginning of the academic year. Foreign students who have been granted a scholarship from the Italian government.' Exempt students still pay the € 16 revenue stamp. REFUND VIA PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIP: 'Students who benefit from a scholarship granted by the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano are entitled to receive a refund of the tuition fees.' [uncertain] MATERIALS COSTS ARE NOT PUBLISHED AND ARE NOT TRIVIAL FOR THIS PROGRAMME. Eco-Social Design is a workshop-intensive design master — wood, metal, plastic, plaster and mould making, screen and tampon printing, bookbinding, photography, video, Fab Lab BITZ — and unibz publishes no figure for consumables, prototyping materials, printing, model-making or software. Applicants should budget separately for these; the € 1,200 covers tuition only. TOTAL DIRECT TUITION for the two-year degree at the standard rate: about € 2,400, against living costs of at least € 800 per month that the visa authorities require non-EU students to evidence.
