Kampüs

NOI Techpark Bozen-Bolzano — the university's technology-park campus at Bruno-Buozzi-Straße 1 / via Bruno Buozzi 1, 39100 Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. Faculty of Engineering. This is a separate site from the main Bolzano city-centre campus (Universitätsplatz 1 / piazza Università 1), where the Advisory Service sits, and from the Brixen-Bressanone and Bruneck-Brunico campuses. All teaching for this programme is at NOI Techpark.

Kabul Tipi

Restricted access (numero programmato) with a merit-based ranking list, decided by documentary evaluation of the applicant's study career. There is NO entrance exam, NO TOLC, NO SAT, NO CENT-S, NO portfolio, NO motivation letter and NO video. The distinguishing instrument is a CONDITIONAL ONLINE INTERVIEW, triggered only for applicants whose bachelor grade average is below 24/30. Selection therefore has three gates: (a) an eliminatory prerequisite gate — the admission title plus curricular ECTS/SSD requirements plus English B2, none of which score points; (b) for sub-24/30 applicants only, a pass/fail online interview; (c) a scored ranking on grade average (up to 10 points) plus a Webometrics university-ranking bonus (up to 3 points). Separate ranking lists are drawn for (i) EU citizens and citizens given parity of treatment and (ii) non-EU citizens living abroad, each against its own quota.

Resmî Eğitim Dili

FULLY ENGLISH — 100%, with no Italian or German component at any point. The official study plan states unambiguously under the heading 'Teaching language': 'The official language of the Master's programme is English.' The admission-information PDF repeats: 'The official teaching language is English.' Every course in both curricula is delivered in English, including the 3 CP 'Advanced English for Scientific Communication' (a pass/fail academic-writing course, not a foreign-language course) and the 24 CP thesis. Unlike the trilingual unibz bachelor programmes, there is NO second or third teaching language, no Italian/German course embedded in the plan, and no language-position system. This is the single most important structural difference from the sister Bachelor in Computer Science at the same faculty, which is trilingual and effectively closed to English-only applicants.

AB / AEA adayları

Three sessions for EU citizens and citizens given parity of treatment (unibz publishes DD/MM/YYYY; ISO normalised below). All deadlines fall at NOON local time, not midnight. EARLY BIRD APPLICATION: 02/03/2026 - 28/04/2026 = 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026. LATE APPLICATION (EU only): 28/05/2026 - 08/07/2026 = 28 Mayıs 2026 to 8 Temmuz 2026. ADDITIONAL APPLICATION SESSION (EU only, opened by the Faculty in August/September only if places remain): 18/08/2026 - 04/09/2026 = 18 Ağustos 2026 to 4 Eylül 2026 — and this session IS confirmed open for this programme on the official Additional Application Session page, marked '(Application possible)'. EU applicants may apply for more than one study programme, and an applicant excluded in the first session may apply again in the second. As of the 29 Ağustos 2026 verification date the Early Bird and Late sessions have closed with ranking lists published; only the Additional Session window remains open, and it closes 4 Eylül 2026 at noon.

AB / AEA dışı adaylar

ONE window only for non-EU citizens living outside Italy: the EARLY BIRD APPLICATION, 02/03/2026 - 28/04/2026 by noon local time = 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026. The admission-information PDF is explicit: 'Only one application period is offered. After the deadline it is not possible to apply anymore. Application fee: € 50.' Non-EU applicants living abroad are NOT eligible for the Late Application or for the Additional Application Session — both are labelled 'only for EU citizens'. They are ranked on a separate list against the separate 30-place non-EU quota and must additionally pre-enrol on the Universitaly portal (one programme only) to obtain the study visa. PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCE: for a Turkish applicant without an Italian residence permit there is exactly one shot per academic year, closing at the end of April — roughly five months before teaching starts. Missing it means waiting a full year.

Kabul koşulları

Akademik geçmiş
  • TWO ALTERNATIVE ROUTES TO THE ADMISSION TITLE. Route A — a bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Italian class L-31) or Information Engineering (Italian class L-08), or an equivalent qualification under previous Italian regulations, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad; unibz names as examples: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Informatics, Information Engineering. Route B — a bachelor's degree in ANY discipline, provided the following curricular requirements have been obtained through bachelor's degrees, master's degrees or single subject courses: AT LEAST 12 ECTS in the computer-science group, and AT LEAST 12 ECTS in the mathematics/statistics/physics group. COMPUTER SCIENCE GROUP (new 2024-reform SSD codes with old equivalents): INFO-01/A (ex INF/01) Computer Science
  • IINF-05/A (ex ING-INF/05) Information Processing Systems. MATHEMATICS/STATISTICS/PHYSICS GROUP: MATH-01/A (ex MAT/01) Mathematical Logic
  • MATH-02/A (ex MAT/02) Algebra
Dil yeterliliği

Single-language regime, and by unibz standards a light one. 'The official teaching language is English. Therefore, the following language requirements apply, otherwise you will be excluded from the admission procedure: Entry level (to gain admission) — English: B2.' CEFR levels apply. No Italian, no German, no second or third language is required at any point, at entry or at graduation. Proof must be provided in the application portal (sections 'upload language certificates' and/or 'enrol for language exams') AFTER creating an application in 'create/manage applications'. Administrative distinction: a final certificate awarded by an ITALIAN PUBLIC INSTITUTION requires a self-declaration; one awarded by a FOREIGN PUBLIC INSTITUTION requires an uploaded scanned copy of the original diploma. The language check is eliminatory but shallow: in the 2026/27 Early Bird session only 2 EU applicants were excluded for language and in the Late session only 1 — a very different picture from the trilingual bachelor, where dozens were excluded. Optional enrichment: Language Centre courses in German, Italian and other languages are free and open to these students, and intensive courses run 01-18/09/2026 (Mon-Fri, 6 h/day), but attendance carries no academic obligation for this programme.

Sınav / değerlendirme
  • NO written entrance examination of any kind — no unibz aptitude test, no TOLC-I, no CENT-S, no SAT, no GRE/GMAT requirement. The only assessment instruments connected to admission are: (1) the CONDITIONAL ONLINE INTERVIEW in English, required only of candidates whose bachelor average is below 24/30 (see the 'interview' field for dates and subject matter)
  • (2) LANGUAGE EXAMS at the unibz Language Centre, and only for applicants who choose that route to prove English B2 rather than submitting a certificate or a prior English-medium qualification — Early Bird sessions 16/03/2026 (registration 02-09/03/2026; this date was subsequently marked fully booked) and 16-17 and 20-21/04/2026 (registration 24/03-08/04/2026)
  • Late session 22-26/06/2026 (registration 28/05-15/06/2026). Applicants in the Additional Application Session CANNOT use unibz language exams and must submit a language certificate instead. Separately and not part of selection, a non-compulsory Mathematics pre-course runs 21/09-09/10/2026 for admitted students.

Hazırlanacak belgeler

    • AT APPLICATION, via the portal at https://aws.unibz.it/exup/ : (1) a valid ID card or passport, front and back — 'if your document is invalid, incomplete or unreadable, you will be excluded from the admission procedure'
    • (2) the completed online form
    • (3) THE STUDY CAREER EXCEL FILE — both worksheets ('Admission title' and 'Other university courses') filled in and uploaded AS AN EXCEL FILE, not as a PDF (the mandatory structured upload for this programme; see portfolio_and_materials for the full rules)

  • Başvuru çağrısı
  • DATA YEAR: all figures are for academic year 2026/27; the admission-information PDF carries 'Latest update: 03.08.2026' and the express caveat 'Subject to change.' Verified as of 29 Ağustos 2026. TIMING STATUS AT VERIFICATION: the Early Bird and Late sessions for 2026/27 have CLOSED and both signed ranking lists are published; the ADDITIONAL APPLICATION SESSION IS OPEN for this programme (18/08-04/09/2026 noon, EU citizens and parity-of-treatment applicants only) and closes within days of the verification date — this is time-critical and should be re-checked before any use. (1) RESOLVED CONFLICT ON PLACES: an automated first pass over the programme page's HTML reported EU places as '30 Early Bird + 10 Late'. That is WRONG. Both the raw HTML page text and the admission-information PDF state 'Early Bird Application: 20, Late Application: 10' for EU and 'Early Bird Application: 30' for non-EU; the brochure's summary '30 EU + 30 non-EU' reconciles with 20+10=30. The 20/10/30 split is authoritative. (2) PDF SLUG TRAP: the admission-information and brochure PDFs live under the slug 'master-in-computing-for-data-science' (with 'for'), while the programme page URL uses 'master-computing-data-science' (without 'for'). Deriving the PDF path from the page slug produces a 404. (3) PREDECESSOR PROGRAMME: the researcher's working note that this replaces a closed MSc Computer Science is SUPPORTED but with a nuance — unibz never says 'closed'; the study-guide page says pre-2021/22 students are enrolled in 'our previous Master in Computer Science or in a previous version of our Master in Computational Data Science' and urges them to switch. So the current programme is the successor to two predecessors, restructured from 2021/22, and the archived manifestos on the site are those of the old MSc CS. No unibz page states an explicit closure date for the old programme. (4) NON-EU QUOTA: the working note that the non-EU quota is 'unusually high (30)' is CONFIRMED and is arguably the single most useful fact about this programme — a 1:1 EU:non-EU ratio, versus 50:4 at the sister Bachelor in Computer Science. But the 2026/27 outcome shows that quota was fully consumed with 15 more on the waiting list, so a generous quota does not mean easy entry for non-EU applicants; it means the opposite of the EU picture. (5) NO EXIT LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: this is asserted from the structural absence of an 'Exit level' section in the admission PDF combined with the affirmative statement on the English-taught-masters language-model page. No page states 'there is no exit requirement' in those words, so the conclusion is inferential, though strongly supported by three independent sources. (6) CERTIFICATE HOME-EDITION SCOPE: flagged inline — the asterisk marking 'Also accepted as home edition' appears against several major tests (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC) in the extracted table, but multi-column PDF table extraction cannot confirm the asterisk's exact per-cell scope; verify with language.centre@unibz.it before relying on an at-home test. (7) SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS: the €1,680-€6,960 range and any 27/30 merit threshold in the field schema could not be confirmed on any page verified for this programme; the provincial call sets amounts annually. (8) NO OFA, NO PORTFOLIO, NO TOLC/SAT/CENT-S, NO GMAT/GRE BONUS for this programme — these schema fields are populated with explicit not-applicable findings rather than left empty, to avoid a later reader inferring 'unknown'. (9) NO PUBLISHED TIE-BREAK RULE and no published minimum total score; the bachelor-level 'younger applicant wins' tie-break is not stated for this master. (10) The Additional Session ranking list (due by 18/09/2026) did not exist at verification, so its outcome and the exact number of remaining places are unknown; the EU shortfall of 6 places (24 admitted against 30) is the best available estimate of capacity. (11) TURKISH-APPLICANT RELEVANCE: Türkiye is a Lisbon Convention signatory, so case (b) recognition applies (ARDI + CIMEA Verification) — this classification is inferred from convention membership, not stated by unibz for this programme.
  • Call for applications link note: No separate call for applications / manifesto degli studi is published for this programme in the current cycle. The role of the official call is played by the admission-information document (https://www.unibz.it/assets/CoursesPDF/master-in-computing-for-data-science_admission-information_en_GB.pdf) together with the two signed ranking-list decrees, which carry the full admission criteria, the Admission Committee signatures and the 60-day appeal notice to the Bozen-Bolzano Administrative Court. Admission Committee for 2026/27: President Prof. Raffaella Bernardi; members Prof. Anton Dignös, Dr Davide Lanti, Dr Paola Lecca, Dr Andrea Rosani, Dr Alessandro Torcinovich (identical membership on both the Early Bird and Late lists). Archived study manifestos exist only for the PREDECESSOR Master in Computer Science (Manifest-2013-msc-CS_en.pdf through Manifest-2017-msc-CS_en.pdf, under /assets/study-career/Engineering/study-plan/masters/) and are of historical interest only. The current official structural document is the study plan: https://guide.unibz.it/assets/study-career/Engineering/study-plan/1 Nisan 2025-Master-Computing-for-Data-Science-study-plan-2025-26.pdf . General applicant portal: https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/studying-at-unibz ; application portal: https://aws.unibz.it/exup/ . [uncertain] — a Rector's decree formally opening the 2026/27 admission procedure may exist in the Italian-language albo/registry but was not located in English.
  • Tuition and fees link note: Total tuition fees are €1,200 per year, paid in two instalments: 1st instalment €600, which 'includes the revenue stamp of € 16' (marca da bollo) and is the payment that secures the place after admission; 2nd instalment €600, 'must be paid by March of the following year'. 'Delayed payment of the second instalment will result in a fine being levied. If you have not paid the tuition fees, you will be unable to take exams and will not be able to transfer to other universities or other study programmes.' No refund if you drop out, interrupt your studies or are excluded. EXEMPTIONS: students with a disability recognised under article 3 paragraph 1 of Law no. 104/1992, or with a disability of 66% or more (the disability certificate from the health authorities must be handed in at the beginning of the academic year); and foreign students who have been granted a scholarship from the Italian government. Students who receive a scholarship from the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano 'are entitled to receive a refund of the tuition fees'. At roughly €1,200 per year the programme is inexpensive by international-master standards, and the fee is identical for EU and non-EU students — there is no differentiated international tuition rate.
