Two cities, two universities. Brochure 'At a glance': 'Campus: NOI Techpark Bozen-Bolzano and Trento'. (1) NOI Techpark Bozen-Bolzano — unibz's Faculty of Engineering campus in the NOI Techpark science-and-innovation park (Via A. Volta 13/A, Bolzano), the same campus as the Bachelor in Computer Science, Electronic and Information Engineering and Industrial and Mechanical Engineering; the Faculty of Engineering's administrative seat is at Via B. Buozzi 1, 39100 Bozen-Bolzano. (2) Trento — University of Trento facilities; the brochure's 'Hands-on Experience' list places several site visits in the Trento province (Melinda construction site in Val di Non, HVAC systems of Povo and Mesiano, Dolomiti Energia hydroelectric plant at Castel Tesino), alongside the Zoccolo Dam in South Tyrol managed by Alperia. Bolzano and Trento are about 60 km / roughly 35-50 minutes apart by regional train, so commuting between the two is feasible but is a real logistical/housing factor. The exact split of teaching between the two campuses (which semester or which curriculum sits in Bolzano vs Trento, and how many ECTS are delivered on each site) is not published on the unibz programme page; the 'Study course structure' widget on the page loads dynamically and returned no static course list.

RESTRICTED ACCESS (numero programmato / limited places), selected by a scored ranking list. There is NO written entrance exam, NO TOLC, NO SAT, NO GRE/GMAT and NO portfolio. The components are: (1) DOCUMENT-BASED SELECTION — the Admission Committee scores the file out of 100 points (CV + programme fit, personal preparation, English above B2, optional video); (2) CURRICULAR-REQUIREMENT CHECK — verification of the ECTS/SSD credit thresholds and the 22/30 minimum bachelor average; (3) AN ORAL INTERVIEW — conditional in general, but demonstrably MANDATORY in practice for at least some candidates: the 2026/27 Early Bird non-EU ranking list states that excluded applicants failed 'because they did not meet the admission requirements or they did not participate in the mandatory interview'; (4) A MANDATORY STRUCTURED EXCEL FILE — 'Applications without a completed excel file will not be considered'; (5) AN ELIGIBILITY THRESHOLD — 'Candidates awarded a score of 50/100 or more will be declared eligible for the programme and ranked accordingly'; (6) A LANGUAGE GATE — B2 English, failure of which means exclusion from the admission procedure regardless of score; (7) AN OPTIONAL VIDEO PRESENTATION (max 3 minutes, YouTube unlisted link) worth up to 10 points. Application is made online through the unibz Application Portal at https://aws.unibz.it/exup . Tie-break rule: 'In case of candidates having the same score, priority will be given to the youngest applicant.'
Resmî Eğitim Dili
FULLY ENGLISH-TAUGHT — this is NOT one of unibz's trilingual programmes. Brochure 'At a glance' box, verbatim: 'Courses will be taught in English (Optional courses could be offered also in Italian and German)'. The admission-information PDF states: 'The official teaching language is English.' Consequence: the only language required for admission is English at B2, and there is NO German or Italian requirement at entry OR at graduation. The Italian/German note applies only to OPTIONAL (elective) courses, so a candidate who speaks no German or Italian can complete the whole 120 ECTS in English by choosing English-taught electives. Because part of the programme is delivered with the University of Trento, students should expect an Italian-speaking environment outside the classroom in Trento (Trentino is monolingual Italian, unlike bilingual Bolzano), but this is a practical/daily-life factor, not a curricular requirement.

THREE POSSIBLE SESSIONS for EU citizens and citizens given parity of treatment; only two were actually opened for 2026/27. All times are noon (12:00) local Italian time on the closing date. Dates normalised to ISO; unibz writes DD/MM/YYYY.
EARLY BIRD APPLICATION — 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026 (unibz: 'Application: 02/03 - 28/04/2026 (by noon local time)'). This is the ONLY window open to non-EU citizens living abroad, and it is the session with the most places overall.
LATE APPLICATION (EU citizens only) — 28 Mayıs 2026 to 20 Ağustos 2026 (unibz: 'Application: 28/05 - 20/08/2026 (by noon local time)'). Actually opened and run: a signed Late ranking list was published admitting 21 EU applicants. Verbatim on re-applying: 'You might apply for more than one study programme. If you are excluded in the first session, you might apply again in the second one.'

ONE WINDOW ONLY, NO SECOND CHANCE: 2 Mart 2026 to 28 Nisan 2026 (Early Bird), by noon local Italian time on the closing day. Verbatim: 'Non-EU-Citizens (living outside of Italy): Only one application period is offered. After the deadline it is not possible to apply anymore.'
This is the single most important planning fact for a Turkish, Indian, Iranian, Pakistani or other non-EU applicant who does not hold a qualifying Italian residence permit: miss 28 April and the academic year is gone. There is no Late Application and no Additional Session for this category — the Late ranking list for 2026/27 is headed 'EU CITIZENS AND CITIZEN ENJOYING PARITY OF TREATMENT' only.
An application fee of EUR 50 applies to this category only, and it is non-refundable.

FOUR ALTERNATIVE QUALIFICATION ROUTES (admission-information PDF and both signed ranking lists, identical wording): '1. a bachelor degree in the Italian degree classes L-7 (Civil and Environmental Engineering), L-8 (Information Technology Engineering) or L-9 (Industrial Engineering) M.D. 1648/2023 (and ex M.D. 270/04)
2. a bachelor degree in the Italian degree classes 8, 9 and 10 ex M.D 509/99
3. a bachelor degree in a class other than the above, university diploma or other qualification awarded abroad and recognised as suitable

SINGLE REQUIREMENT: ENGLISH AT B2 (CEFR) FOR ADMISSION. Verbatim: 'The official teaching language is English. Therefore, the following language requirements apply, otherwise you will be excluded from the admission procedure: Entry level (to gain admission) English: B2. The levels of the Common European Framework of Reference apply.'
There is NO German requirement, NO Italian requirement, NO third-language B1 threshold and NO graduation/exit language requirement — this is a fully English-taught master, not a trilingual programme.
THE LANGUAGE GATE IS A HARD KNOCK-OUT: failure to prove B2 means exclusion from the admission procedure regardless of academic score. (Across unibz, this gate is the single most common cause of exclusion — for the trilingual Bachelor in Computer Science, all 26 non-EU applicants in the 2026/27 Early Bird session were excluded for language. For this English-only master the gate is far easier to clear, which is precisely why it is a good target for an English-speaking international applicant.)
Sınav / değerlendirme
NO WRITTEN ENTRANCE EXAM OF ANY KIND. This is a document-plus-interview selection, not a test-based one. Specifically:
- NO unibz admission test;
- NO TOLC (TOLC-I, TOLC-E or otherwise) — TOLC applies to unibz BACHELOR engineering programmes, not to this master;
3. Hazırlanacak belgeler
UPLOADED IN THE APPLICATION PORTAL (https://aws.unibz.it/exup) AT APPLICATION:
(1) A VALID ID CARD OR PASSPORT, front and back, at account creation — 'if your document is invalid, incomplete or unreadable, you will be excluded from the admission procedure'.
(2) QUALIFICATION DOCUMENTS. Graduated in Italy: diploma supplement or a D.P.R. 445/2000 self-declaration of the degree with final grade and passed exams; if not yet graduated, a certificate listing exams passed. Graduated abroad: diploma supplement or final degree certificate with passed exams; if not yet graduated, a transcript of records — in Italian, German or English. Must contain 'final grade, exams passed with grade and date of passing, credit points, scientific fields (the latter only for Italian titles)', and for foreign qualifications also the 'scale of grades awarded by the university of provenance (with a minimum final grade to obtain the qualification and a maximum final grade achievable)'. If the qualification was gained abroad, the DIPLOMA must also be uploaded ('if you are not yet in possession of the diploma, you'll need to upload it upon enrolment').
DATA YEAR: everything here is the 2026/27 cycle, from documents stamped 'Latest update: 21.05.2026' and marked 'Subject to change'. Read on 29 Ağustos 2026, the 2026/27 intake is effectively closed (both application windows have expired; only enrolment runs to 13/10/2026, with late enrolment to 11/12/2026). A prospective applicant is targeting 2027/28, whose dates, quotas and possibly rubric are NOT yet published. Treat every date here as an indicative pattern for 2027/28, not a commitment.
RESOLVED CONTRADICTION: the brochure 'At a glance' says '40 EU + 10 Non-EU' while the detailed section lists EU Early Bird 20 + EU Late 20. These agree — 40 is the EU TOTAL across two sessions. An early automated read of the HTML page misreported '40 places (Early Bird) with additional 20 in Late'; that reading is WRONG and is corrected here against the PDF and the signed ranking lists.
OPEN UNCERTAINTIES:
(1) JOINT-DEGREE STATUS — unibz says only 'In collaboration with the University of Trento' and files the programme under 'Inter-university Masters'. Whether the parchment is a single joint degree, a double degree, or a unibz degree is not stated on unibz.it. Whether one can alternatively apply through UniTrento (with different quotas/deadlines) is likewise unstated; the UniTrento page (corsi.unitn.it/en/energy-engineering) blocked automated access, and the outline restricts sourcing to unibz.it. An applicant should e-mail engineering@unibz.it to confirm which university to apply to.
(2) CAMPUS SPLIT — how the two years and two curricula divide between NOI Techpark Bolzano and Trento is not published; the programme page's 'Study course structure' widget loads dynamically and yielded no static course list. This has real housing and cost consequences and should be asked directly.
(3) INTERVIEW LOGISTICS — no dates, no duration, no format details are published for this programme. The sister Master in Industrial Mechanical Engineering states 15-30 minutes, online, in English; that is a plausible but UNCONFIRMED analogue. The 'programme's study regulation' that governs the interview was not locatable in English on unibz.it.
(4) THE COMMITTEE'S INTERNAL a+b MINIMUM that unlocks video scoring is 'established by the commission' and never published.
(5) NO HISTORICAL CUT-OFF SCORE can be derived: ranking lists publish applicant IDs only, never scores. The 50/100 eligibility threshold is the only published number, and it is a floor, not the admission cut-off in an oversubscribed session.
(6) DOUBLE DEGREE (UPC Barcelona / IMT Atlantique Nantes) — selection procedure, quotas, timing, credit arrangements and any Spanish/Catalan/French language requirements are not published on the unibz programme page.
(7) SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS — the commonly cited EUR 1,680-6,960 provincial grant range and merit thresholds could not be confirmed; they are set annually by the provincial call. There is an unresolved question of how residence is assessed for students spending time in Trento (Trentino province) rather than South Tyrol.
(8) VISA FINANCIAL THRESHOLDS (EUR 800/month, roughly EUR 24,000 for a master) and the 20 hours/week work limit come from unibz general material and Italian national rules, NOT from this programme's 2026/27 PDF.
(9) FIRST YEAR OF ACTIVATION of the programme is not stated anywhere on unibz.it.
(10) INFO SESSION DATES are 'to be defined' in the 21.05.2026 brochure.
(11) The Italian and German editions of the admission-information PDF were not separately verified for divergence from the English text.
METHODOLOGICAL NOTE: no third-party aggregator (Mastersportal, StudyInItaly, etc.) was used. Every figure above traces to a unibz.it page or a unibz.it-hosted PDF, downloaded and text-extracted on 29 Ağustos 2026, in line with the outline's source restriction.

Related unibz pages: grade statistics https://www.unibz.it/en/faculties/engineering/master-energy-engineering/grade-statistics-lm-30 ; Faculty of Engineering https://www.unibz.it/en/faculties/engineering ; the related doctorate https://www.unibz.it/en/faculties/engineering/phd-sustainable-energy-technologies . The programme page also links out to the partner university's page for the same programme, https://corsi.unitn.it/en/energy-engineering (University of Trento; not verifiable here — the site blocked automated access).
Call for applications link note: There is NO separate 'call for applications' or 'manifesto degli studi' document published in English for this programme. The role of the official call is played jointly by:
(1) the admission-information document, https://www.unibz.it/assets/CoursesPDF/master-in-energy-engineering_admission-information_en_GB.pdf (version-pinned on the programme page as ?v=1779380125), which carries the deadlines, quotas, entry requirements, selection rubric and fees; and
(2) the two SIGNED RANKING-LIST DECREES for 2026/27, which restate the admission criteria, carry the Admission Committee's digital signatures and the 60-day appeal notice to the Bozen-Bolzano Administrative Court.
General applicant entry points: https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/studying-at-unibz ; international applicants https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/international/international-degree-seeking-applicants ; ranking lists index https://www.unibz.it/en/applicants/ranking-lists ; application portal https://aws.unibz.it/exup .
[uncertain] A Rector's decree formally opening the 2026/27 admission procedure, and the programme's own 'study regulation' (referenced in the admission text as the source of the interview rules), may exist in the Italian-language albo/registry but were not locatable in English on unibz.it.
Tuition and fees link note: EUR 1,200 PER YEAR IN TOTAL, in two instalments. Verbatim: 'Fees amount to EUR 1200. 1st instalment (EUR 600): includes the revenue stamp of EUR 16. 2nd instalment (EUR 600): must be paid by March of the following year.'
The first instalment is also the payment that SECURES an admitted place (Early Bird 2026/27 deadline 5 Haziran 2026 noon; Late 11 Eylül 2026 noon).
unibz charges a FLAT FEE — it is NOT income-scaled (no ISEE-based brackets as at most Italian state universities), and non-EU students pay the same EUR 1,200 as EU students. Against the Italian and wider European market this is very low for an English-taught engineering master, which is a substantial part of the programme's value proposition.
CONSEQUENCES OF NON-PAYMENT: 'Delayed payment of the second instalment will result in a fine being levied. If you have not paid the tuition fees, you will be unable to take exams and will not be able to transfer to other universities or other study programmes.' And: 'If you drop out of a programme, interrupt your studies or are excluded from studies, you are not entitled to reimbursement of the fees.'
EXEMPTIONS: 'Students with a disability recognized under article 3, paragraph 1, of Law No 104/1992, or with a disability up to or exceeding 66%: the disability certificate, issued by the health authorities, must be handed in at the beginning of the academic year' and 'Foreign students who have been granted a scholarship from the Italian government'.
REFUND FOR GRANT HOLDERS: 'Students who benefit from a scholarship granted by the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano are entitled to receive a refund of the tuition fees.'
REFUND EXCEPTION FOR VISA FAILURE: non-EU applicants living abroad who pay but 'do not receive the documents necessary for enrolment from the Italian authorities in their country' ARE entitled to a refund.
Fees pages: https://guide.unibz.it/en/study-career/general-information/fees/ and the programme's own admission-information PDF.
NOT INCLUDED: living costs. Bolzano is among the most expensive Italian cities for housing, and the programme also involves time in Trento — budget both.
