• Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, a three-year university degree, or another foreign qualification recognized as suitable by the university. The official programme page on the University portal requires an adequate basic historical background, preferably related to the ancient world. It lists the expected Italian degree classes as L-1, L-5, L-6, L-10, L-15, L-42, and L-43 under D.M. 270/2004; 5, 13, 29, 30, 38, 39, and 41 under D.M. 509/1999; or comparable old-system degrees. For foreign first-level degrees, curricular suitability is evaluated on the basis of the previous study content, preferably in a classics, ancient-history, archaeology, or closely related field.
• Foreign title pre-check: Applicants with a foreign bachelor's degree must apply through apply.unipv.eu to obtain pre-evaluation and an admission/pre-enrollment eligibility letter. The Admission Office evaluates the submitted foreign documentation. Non-EU applicants residing abroad must also complete Universitaly pre-enrollment for the visa.

• English B2. The programme is entirely taught in English and requires at least B2 English for admission. According to the official University portal programme page, candidates who are not native English speakers and did not graduate from a first-level programme taught in English must prove B2 through a recognized certificate, a certificate from the University Language Centre or home university, or at least 24 credits in English during the bachelor's degree. The 2026/2027 Annex II also lists the programme among UNIPV courses entirely taught in English with recognised level B2.
• Language requirement exemption or alternative: The official programme page states that candidates who are native English speakers or who come from a first-level programme taught in English are not required to present an English certificate. Alternatives accepted on the same page are a recognized certificate, a Language Centre or home-university certificate, or at least 24 credits in English during the bachelor's degree. As an English-taught programme, it is also exempt from the university-wide Italian-language test for non-EU students.

• An admission interview is used to assess adequate personal preparation. The official University portal describes it as a non-selective, orientative interview; for applicants coming from abroad it may also be held by videoconference.
• Selection criteria: The commission checks curricular requirements and adequate personal preparation. If the applicant does not immediately meet the curricular and/or merit requirements, the University portal states that the candidate is assigned the status 'Colloquio/Test' and must take the evaluation interview/test with a EUR 35 competition contribution. No ranking-based restricted-access selection is stated on the consulted allowed sources.

• Foreign-qualification application stage: identity document and bachelor's degree diploma for the apply.unipv.eu application route. For the Italian-degree LM evaluation route, the university asks for a valid identity document, first-level degree data, tax code, signed self-certification of exams with dates, scientific-disciplinary sectors, credits, marks, degree mark, and academic years, plus any programme-specific additional documentation. Visa pre-enrollment stage for non-EU applicants residing abroad: passport, photocard, bachelor's degree, and admission letter or conditional offer letter. Enrollment-finalization stage for foreign qualifications: the degree document issued in English, Spanish, or French or officially translated into Italian, legalization where applicable, and either a Declaration of Value, a CIMEA Statement of Comparability, or a Diploma Supplement or ARDI Statement of Correspondence depending on the qualification country, plus visa/residence documentation where applicable.
