• Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, a postgraduate master's degree under pre-DM 509 rules, a three-year diploma, or another officially recognized foreign qualification in Engineering. The official programme requirements page states four main requirements: a bachelor's degree in Engineering, an industrial and broad engineering background proved by transcripts, English knowledge at B2 level, and a strong final ranking or current average. For curricular compliance, the official page lists 36 ECTS in basic subjects and 45 ECTS in characteristic engineering subjects. The Teaching Committee checks compliance with curricular requirements and individual background. Applicants with a degree not fully compliant with the curricular requirements may still be admitted after evaluation of their academic career and motivations, possibly with an interview, and may receive up to 12 ECTS of study-plan constraints or a list of single-course exams to pass before admission.
• Foreign title pre-check: Applicants with a foreign degree, and applicants holding an Italian five-year degree, must apply and cannot enroll directly. The programme requirements page states that the Teaching Committee verifies whether the applicant's curriculum is compliant with the curricular requirements. The central UNIPV master's admissions page separately states that the Admission Office evaluates the submitted foreign documentation after application.

• English B2. The official programme requirements page states that applicants must demonstrate knowledge of English at a level no lower than B2 of the Common European Framework. The official Faculty of Engineering English-language certificate page explicitly lists Industrial Automation Engineering among the English-taught master's programmes requiring B2.
• Language requirement exemption or alternative: The official programme and Faculty of Engineering pages state that applicants who passed an English language test to access a university course, or who passed an English language exam equivalent to at least 3 ECTS during their previous studies, are exempt from presenting a separate certificate. Students from foreign universities can also present suitable documentation showing they passed an English test or an exam taught in English. Students from countries where English is the official language, or graduates from universities where courses are taught in English, do not need a certificate if they provide supporting documentation.

Selection criteria: The Teaching Committee evaluates compliance with curricular requirements and the applicant's individual background. The official requirements page states that the Committee checks whether the applicant can enter the programme based on curricular compliance and individual background, and that highly qualified or strongly motivated candidates with partial curricular deficiencies may still be admitted after evaluation of their academic career and motivations, possibly with an interview. For applicants with Italian qualifications who request curriculum pre-evaluation, the official page says the Committee may respond with accepted, conditionally accepted, or not accepted.

• Foreign-degree application stage on the official programme page: copy of ID, preferably passport; complete transcripts including GPA or weighted score and the grading system applied; copy of the bachelor's degree or a provisional certificate stating when the degree will be completed; the programme Excel file completed with grades and credits for each subject; and an English certificate only if the bachelor's degree was not taught in English. General central master's application stage: identity document and bachelor's degree diploma issued in English, Spanish, or French, or officially translated into Italian. Visa pre-enrollment stage for non-EU applicants residing abroad: passport, photocard, bachelor's degree, and admission letter or conditional offer letter.
