Eligibility check (verification of entry requirements) must be requested by paying the EUR 10.00 Infostud fee FROM 2 JULY 2026 and by ONE of the following chosen dates: 15 September 2026; 15 October 2026; 17 November 2026; 17 December 2026; or 14 January 2027 (this last date is reserved for students who have already graduated from Sapienza or are about to graduate). Applicants who have not yet graduated must obtain the degree by 23 January 2027 (Sapienza) or 19 December 2026 (other Italian or international universities). The optional MoveIN pre-selection route for EU/EU-equivalent candidates closed on 31 July 2026 for A.Y. 2026/2027 ('All other candidates (EU or equivalent): deadline set on July 31, 2026'). Applicants coming from other Italian universities must email a self-certification of their degree (with degree class, examinations taken and SSD) plus the EUR 10.00 payment receipt to segreteriadidattica@diag.uniroma1.it by the same eligibility-check deadlines. A.Y. 2026/2027 - for non-EU citizens residing abroad who require a student visa (and Chinese students in the Marco Polo Project). Three binding steps, all earlier than the EU track: (1) MANDATORY MoveIn online pre-selection to obtain the compulsory pre-acceptance letter - window 22 December 2025 to 15 May 2026 (EUR 30 per application, at most 2 applications per academic year). Sapienza's Programmes in English page confirms that the deadline for non-EU visa applicants expired on 15 May 2026 and that between 15 May and the end of June 2026 non-EU candidates could only apply for Italian-taught programmes. (2) Study-visa pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal by 30 June 2026 at 23:59 Italian time, uploading the pre-acceptance letter. (3) Eligibility check booked on Infostud by paying the EUR 10.00 fee (code 33509) from 2 July 2026 and not later than 15 September 2026 - 'the only applicable date for applicants from non-EU countries requiring a student visa'. Enrolment documents are then sent to studentistranieri@uniroma1.it, followed by the administrative check and the payment of tuition fees. For a new visa applicant the A.Y. 2026/27 cycle therefore closed on 15 May 2026; the 15 September 2026 date serves candidates who already hold the pre-acceptance letter. No programme-specific non-EU deadline is published on the Control Engineering pages.

Admission uses a two-stage check: (1) an administrative eligibility check of curricular CFU requirements, booked by paying a EUR 10.00 fee on Infostud under code 33509, whose outcome is emailed to the applicant; and (2) an assessment of personal knowledge — the official call states 'Any assessment of the applicant's suitability will be carried out through an interview. There is no minimum average mark required for a three-year degree for admission.' The programme's DIAG page describes the interview as a technical interview of about 20 minutes held remotely, evaluating academic background, technical competences and motivation. The MoveIN Academic Requirements document specifies the technical scope: applicants whose curriculum satisfies minimum requirements in Systems Theory, Automatic Control and Automation Engineering 'will be interviewed for admission', and 'Candidates will be evaluated by technical questions on these concepts and methods during the interview', with reference material published at http://www.diag.uniroma1.it/~automatica/uploads/BasicKnowledge.pdf (Linear Systems analysis and Feedback Control design).
