1) Upper secondary school diploma already obtained or to be obtained in 2026. Holders of a foreign secondary qualification must meet Sapienza's rules for foreign qualifications (minimum 12 years of schooling per the MoveIn pre-selection requirements). 2) Non-EU applicants residing abroad and applying for a student visa additionally need a secondary school diploma with a GPA of no less than 75/100 (the same 75/100 minimum GPA is stated in the MoveIn pre-selection document). 3) A valid admission test taken within the validity window (see entry_exam_or_test) and registration for one of the scheduled selection rounds, including payment of the EUR 10.00 selection fee via Infostud (code 14824). 4) Minimum converted admission-test score of 36/100 to be admitted, plus passing any online interview requested by the panel, plus a ranking position within the available places. 5) Certified English at CEFR B2 (see language_requirements). 6) A converted score below 40/100 does not block enrolment but triggers Further Required Courses (OFA) in Mathematics, to be cleared within the first year by passing the I3S OFA remedial test or the curricular Linear Algebra exam (6 ECTS); failing the OFA blocks exams beyond year one from A.Y. 2027-2028. The 2026-2027 call contains no test-exemption / direct-admission clause for this programme.

English at CEFR level B2 or above is a mandatory condition both for participating in the selection and for enrolling (Annex 2 of the 2026-2027 call). Proof is satisfied by at least ONE of: (a) a B2 certificate - FCE (First Certificate in English); IELTS Academic with a minimum score of 5.5/9; a valid TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 72/120; CAE; CPE; PTE General Level 3 (B2 CEFR) or higher; PTE Academic with a minimum score of 42 (IELTS Academic Home-Based and TOEFL iBT Home Edition are accepted); (b) an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, OR a degree taught in English from an accredited institution in the EU/EEA/Schengen area, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States, OR a General Certificate of Education (GCE); (c) having taken the SAT, the English TOLC-I or the CEnT-S; (d) scoring at least 24/30 in the English section of the Italian-language TOLC-I or TOLC-S. Submission route: non-EU applicants seeking a visa upload the documentation to the MoveIn platform by the pre-acceptance deadlines; Italian/EU/non-EU-equivalent applicants email the (a) or (b) documents to acsai@di.uniroma1.it by the enrolment-fee payment deadline, with subject line 'ACSAI - Knowledge of English: Certificate' plus the student ID number. A screenshot or a mere confirmation of having sat a test is not accepted; the certificate must be a PDF true copy showing the candidate's details and result.

A standardised admission test is mandatory; five tests are accepted and converted onto a common 0-100 scale. EU applicants and non-EU applicants with an Italian residence permit ('non-EU equivalents') may use: TOLC-I (taken from 1 July 2024), TOLC-S (from 1 July 2024), English TOLC-I (1 July 2024 to November 2025), CEnT-S (from November 2025, sections M-Mathematics, R-Reasoning on texts and data, P-Physics), all run by CISIA (cisiaonline.it), or the SAT General Test (from 1 January 2024, College Board). Non-EU applicants requiring a student visa may only use the English TOLC-I, the CEnT-S or the SAT. @CASA/@home versions are valid. SAT scores must be sent to Sapienza through the College Board portal using institution code 9038 and must arrive by the selection deadline. TOLC/CEnT scoring: +1 correct, 0 unanswered, -0.25 incorrect; the unnormalised CEnT-S score is used. Conversion to /100 uses 50 points max (TOLC-I), 55 (TOLC-S), 35 (CEnT-S) and a 600-1600 range (SAT). Thresholds: minimum 36/100 for admission; below 40/100 an OFA in Mathematics is assigned. Repeat sittings are allowed (TOLC at most once a month per type; CEnT at most once per macro-period) and the highest score counts. The panel may also call candidates to an online interview. For the MoveIn pre-selection stage, the published minimum entry-test scores are: SAT above 960/1600 (taken after 1 January 2024) or CEnT-S converted score above zero for non-EU citizens; for EU citizens also English TOLC-I 18/50, or Italian TOLC-I 18/50 plus 24/30 in the English section, or Italian TOLC-S 18/55 plus 24/30 in the English section.
