Upper secondary school diploma obtained, or to be obtained, in 2026 - required for both EU/EU-equivalent and non-EU visa-seeking applicants. For holders of a foreign secondary qualification: a high school diploma earned after no fewer than 12 years of study, validated per the Sapienza 'accepted qualifications by country' rules. Minimum GPA 60/100 is published for the MoveIn pre-selection route (non-EU/international applicants). Recommended subject background stated by the programme: basic knowledge of Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry as normally provided by upper secondary school, plus logical and written-text comprehension skills and written expression. No prior university credits are required for first-year entry. TEST EXEMPTION / DIRECT ADMISSION TO YEAR 2: students enrolled at Italian universities on other English-taught three-year degree programmes are exempt from the test if they hold at least 24 recognisable ECTS across MAT/01-09 Mathematics (6), FIS/01-08 Physics (6), CHIM/03 General and Inorganic Chemistry (6), CHIM/06 Organic Chemistry (6), INF/01 Computer Science (6), SECS-S/01 Statistics (6), MED/01 Medical Statistics (6); eligibility must be requested by email to luciana.damore@uniroma1.it and mbmccs.pharma@uniroma1.it by 12:00 noon on 30 July 2026, with enrolment/transfer no later than 8 October 2026. Note: possession of the stated academic and language requirements is explicitly NOT a guarantee of admission - each pre-selection application is assessed individually.

CEFR B2 English. Two official layers apply. (1) Call for applications (applies to every applicant): no certificate is demanded, but the call states that sitting the CEnT-S or the SAT 'means you must meet the requirement of having at least a B2 level of English, as the tests are conducted in English'. (2) MoveIn pre-selection Academic Requirements 2026-2027 (applies to applicants going through the international pre-selection): CEFR B2, with accepted scores IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, Trinity College London ISE II or higher. Sapienza's general English Language Requirements sheet also accepts FCE, IELTS Academic (incl. Home-Based), TOEFL iBT (incl. Home Edition), CAE, CPE, PTE General Level 3 (B2 or higher) and PTE Academic. WAIVERS: native speakers of English; holders of an English-taught diploma/degree from an accredited institution in the EU/EEA/Schengen area or in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States; holders of an International Baccalaureate (IB), GCSE/GCE or comparable diplomas. The requirement is waived entirely for applicants from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand (English as primary medium of instruction).

Mandatory. One of two accepted tests, and the total converted score must be GREATER THAN ZERO to enter the ranking. (a) CEnT-S - CISIA English Test - Sciences, taken at Sapienza or any CISIA-affiliated university, in @UNI or @CASA (remote) mode, valid if sat from 1 November 2025 onwards. Structure: 55 questions in 5 sections - Mathematics 15 q / 30 min, Reasoning on texts and data 15 q / 30 min, Biology 10 q / 20 min, Chemistry 10 q / 20 min, Physics 5 q / 10 min; all five sections count. Scoring used by Sapienza is the UNNORMALISED score: +1 correct, 0 unanswered, -0.25 wrong. Can be sat only once per CISIA main period. (b) SAT General Test (College Board), valid if sat from 1 January 2025 onwards, scored 400-1600; scores must be sent to Sapienza via College Board using Higher Education Institution code 9038 by the selection deadline. IMPORTANT: the English TOLC test is no longer accepted. Scores are converted to a common 0-100 scale (CEnT-S: min 0, max 55; SAT: min 600, max 1600); best score counts if the test was taken more than once; ties are broken in favour of the younger candidate. No interview is required. OFA (additional learning requirements) in Mathematics are assigned if the CEnT-S Mathematics section score is below 7, or the SAT Math score is below 343; the OFA must be passed within the first year or the year must be repeated.

  • MoveIn pre-selection (mandatory for non-EU citizens residing abroad; registration by 15 May 2026): passport, high school diploma, transcript of records, language certificate, reference letter (optional) and additional supporting documents; the CEnT-S or SAT result certificate as a PDF conforming to the original showing the candidate's data and score (a screenshot, booking confirmation or certificate of completion alone is not sufficient); EUR 30.00 fee.

  • Non-EU visa applicants additionally: the MoveIn letter of pre-acceptance (PDF), the Universitaly pre-enrolment application (submitted by 30 June 2026), the study visa for 'University Enrolment' and the receipt of the residence permit request.

  • For enrolment with a foreign qualification (A.Y. 2026/2027 list of the Hello - International Student Office; documents merged into a single PDF and emailed to studentistranieri@uniroma1.it with the subject line 'Ready for enrolment + degree programme code and name + student ID number + surname and first name', any CIMEA statements attached separately as the original PDF files; the office later checks the original hard copies at an in-person appointment): valid passport (or identity card for EU citizens only); study visa (non-EU residing abroad); residence permit card (non-EU living in Italy); High School Diploma obtained after at least 12 years of study with an official sworn translation into Italian or English (a sworn translation into Italian is not required if the diploma was originally issued in English); for countries listed in the ARDI database, the Statement of Correspondence downloaded from ARDI plus the CIMEA Statement of Verification or, alternatively, legalisation/Apostille of the original and translated diploma; for other countries, the CIMEA Statement of Comparability and Statement of Verification or, alternatively, a Declaration of Value (DoV) issued by the competent Italian diplomatic mission with legalisation/Apostille of the original and translated diploma; for International Baccalaureate (IB) Diplomas specific guidelines apply (see Attachment 2 of the Ministerial Regulations).

  • Enrolment is completed by paying the first instalment plus EUR 16.00 stamp duty and the regional tax on Infostud using programme code 33457; an ISEE 2026 calculation is needed to obtain fee reductions (Italian tax residents only). The Hello - International Student Office may request further documentation or refuse admission if requirements are not met.
