• Applicants must hold an upper secondary school diploma or an equivalent foreign qualification. Admission also requires passing the nationally regulated TEST-ARCHED used by the University of Pavia. Applicants must demonstrate English at at least B1 CEFR. Foreign-title holders must complete title verification before enrollment, and non-EU applicants residing abroad must submit their school qualification for evaluation on apply.unipv.eu.
• Foreign title pre-check: Foreign secondary-school qualifications must be verified before enrollment. EU and non-EU applicants residing in Italy with a foreign qualification must submit the diploma, legalization or apostille or CIMEA Statement of Verification, Declaration of Value or CIMEA Comparability or ARDI Statement of Correspondence, and any required proof of university-entry eligibility; an evaluation fee is due before enrollment. Non-EU applicants residing abroad must upload their title on apply.unipv.eu between June 30 and July 9, 2026 with the required recognition documents and pay the non-refundable €35 application fee.

The programme requires English at at least B1 CEFR. According to the official call, English can be verified through the English section of TEST-ARCHED or TOLC-I with at least 21 correct answers out of 30, or through recognition of at least 3 CFU of English for transfer or internal-change candidates. If the English requirement is not met, the student is assigned an OFA and must clear it by September 30 of the first year to progress to year 2. For non-EU applicants residing abroad who need a visa, the official call also requires Italian-language knowledge at B2 to be completed by September 30, 2026 unless an official exemption applies.

• Selective TEST-ARCHED CISIA. For 2026/2027 the University of Pavia schedules a first test on July 24, 2026, a second test on September 2, 2026, and a later residual-seat round for candidates who took TEST-ARCHED at other universities. Each test lasts 100 minutes and contains 50 multiple-choice questions.
• Selection criteria: Candidates are ranked in descending order of TEST-ARCHED score within separate rankings for EU and equivalent applicants, non-EU applicants residing abroad, and Marco Polo candidates. Scoring is 1 point for each correct answer, -0.25 for each wrong answer, and 0 for unanswered questions. Tie-breaks are resolved by higher scores in logical reasoning, then reading comprehension, then drawing and representation, then physics and mathematics, then acquired knowledge and history including art history, then younger age. Candidates who leave every question unanswered are not considered eligible for ranking.
• Seat quota: 2026/2027 provisional quotas: 80 places for EU applicants and equivalent categories including non-EU applicants residing in Italy

• • Competition registration requires a front and back copy of an identity document and a passport-style face photo. Applicants requesting disability or DSA accommodations must also upload the relevant certification with a sworn Italian or English translation if the document was issued abroad. EU and non-EU applicants residing in Italy with a foreign qualification must submit: original upper secondary diploma or certified copy or replacement certificate after at least 12 years of schooling
  • Italian translation unless the diploma is in English, Spanish, or French; legalization or apostille or CIMEA Statement of Verification
  • Declaration of Value or CIMEA Statement of Comparability or ARDI Statement of Correspondence; proof of any required academic-eligibility exam; and payment of the €35 foreign-title evaluation fee. Non-EU applicants residing abroad on apply.unipv.eu must submit the same school-title documentation, plus the €35 non-refundable application fee. Enrollment also requires the standard online enrollment documents and, for visa students, visa or residence documentation.
