Naples historic city centre — Department of Architecture (DiARC), Complesso dello Spirito Santo, with entrances at via Toledo 402 and via Forno Vecchio 36, 80134 Napoli, Italy. The ARCHER 'Venue details' page states that all applied and teaching activities take place in the Spirito Santo complex; the orientamento page confirms 'All the classes are held in the complex of "Spirito Santo" that is the main building of the Department of Architecture, with access from via Toledo 402 and from via Fornovecchio 36.' A second DiARC building, Palazzo Orsini di Gravina (a Renaissance palace that has been the seat of the Faculty of Architecture since 1936), houses the Roberto Pane Library and the Area Architettura Library and hosts the final degree (graduation) sessions. The official course record at corsi.unina.it/DB2 gives the location simply as 'NAPOLI'. NOTE FOR CLARITY: this is NOT the Monte Sant'Angelo, Policlinico, Portici, San Giovanni a Teduccio or Frullone campus — it is the downtown architecture campus. Public transport: Metro Line 1 (Dante and Toledo stations), Metro Line 2 (Montesanto), Metro Line 5 / Circumflegrea, Metro Line 8 / Cumana, and the Montesanto–Vomero funicular. Kabul Tipi
OPEN ACCESS (Italian: 'accesso libero') with compulsory verification of curricular requirements and of the candidate's personal preparation. There is no ranked competition, no numerus clausus and no written admission test for this programme. Evidence: (a) orientamento.unina.it lists 'Admission: Libero' in the course fact box and states 'The access to the ARCHER course is free and therefore it is only subject to verification of the minimum prerequisites for access and personal preparation'; (b) Art. 5 of the 2025/26 Didactic Regulations states 'The Degree Program does not include local access programming' and 'Verification of personal preparation is always mandatory, and only students who meet the curricular requirements can access it'; (c) CRITICALLY, ARCHER is NOT covered by the national restricted-access competition for architect-training courses under Law 264/1999. Federico II's 2026/27 architect competition, Decreto Rettorale DR/2026/2379 of 18/06/2026, lists in Article 1 exactly three courses — the single-cycle LM-4 'Architettura' (250 + 3 seats), the single-cycle LM-4 'Ingegneria edile-architettura' (90 + 2 seats) and the L-17 bachelor 'Scienze dell'Architettura' (176 + 4 seats). The two-year LM-4 ARCHER does not appear in that decree and therefore has no seat cap and no national test. HOWEVER, in practice a selective departmental pre-admission procedure applies to non-EU applicants resident abroad: they must submit a documentary dossier (including a portfolio and a recommendation letter) to the department, are likely to be called for an interview, and only then receive a 'pre-admission letter' which they attach to their Universitaly application. So the effective admission route is: (1) open access for Italian/EU candidates and non-EU candidates legally resident in Italy or in an EU country, subject to curricular-requirement and personal-preparation checks; (2) document screening + interview + pre-admission letter + Universitaly pre-enrolment for non-EU candidates resident abroad.
Resmî Eğitim Dili
English — the programme is delivered entirely in English. The official course record at corsi.unina.it/DB2 states 'Language: English'; the Didactic Regulations SUA-CdS general information block states 'Teaching language English'; orientamento.unina.it shows 'Language: ENG'. All taught units in the study plan (the four design studios, the integrated course of critical knowledge of heritage, and the integrated heritage management course) are marked 'Inglese' in the regulations; only the 'Ulteriori attività formative' (further training activities) line is marked 'Italiano/Inglese', because that slot is explicitly used to teach Italian to foreign students and other languages to Italian students. The final thesis is written in English (another language may be accepted on motivated request, but the presentation and discussion are in English in any case) and must contain an abstract in Italian. IMPORTANT NUANCE: despite being fully English-taught, the programme's entry requirements ALSO ask for 'a minimum level of knowledge of the Italian language'. This is not a B2 requirement — it is assessed during the admission interview and, where the level is insufficient, the student is directed to include Italian-language learning activities in their study plan (supported by the University Language Centre and by the elective-activities credits). The University's international pages separately confirm that for degree courses taught in ENGLISH 'level B2 Italian language proficiency is not required' for pre-enrolment and visa purposes.

[uncertain — the programme page, the university enrolment news item and the 2026/27 fee guide give partly different dates; figures below are for a.y. 2026/27, captured 30 Ağustos 2026]
EU citizens (wherever resident), Italian citizens, and non-EU citizens legally resident in Italy or in an EU country do NOT use the Universitaly pre-enrolment route. Per international.unina.it they 'have unrestricted access to university courses' and should 'send [their] academic documents to the Coordinator of the course [they] wish to enrol in to find out whether [they] meet the enrolment requirements' — for ARCHER, Prof. Andrea Pane (andrea.pane@unina.it). There is no published cut-off date for that qualification-assessment step, so applicants should start it well before the enrolment window.
ENROLMENT DEADLINES (the operative dates for this category):
AB / AEA dışı adaylar
[uncertain — the programme's own deadline and the university-wide deadline conflict, and the 2026/27 window has already closed as of the 30 Ağustos 2026 capture date]
Non-EU citizens RESIDENT ABROAD follow a two-stage route for a.y. 2026/27:
• Stage 1 — departmental pre-admission: 'as soon as possible', upload/send the documentary dossier (CV, passport, bachelor's degree, transcripts, B2 English certificate, recommendation letter, motivation letter, portfolio — see required_documents) to the department. The ARCHER page warns: 'Please note that you will be probably contacted for an interview before getting a pre-admission letter.' No opening or closing date is published for this stage, so it must be started months in advance.
2. Kabul koşulları
Akademik geçmiş
Seats (total): No fixed seat number is published — the programme is open access with no numerical cap. Art. 5 of the 2025/26 Didactic Regulations states 'The Degree Program does not include local access programming' ('Il corso non prevede programmazione locale degli accessi'), and orientamento.unina.it records the admission mode as 'Libero'. The programme is also absent from Federico II's 2026/27 national architect-training competition decree (D.R. 2379 of 18/06/2026), which is where seat numbers for the architecture area are set — that decree caps only the single-cycle LM-4 Architettura at 250+3 seats, the single-cycle LM-4 Ingegneria edile-architettura at 90+2, and the L-17 Scienze dell'Architettura at 176+4. None of those figures applies to ARCHER. Admission is therefore limited only by whether the individual candidate satisfies the curricular requirements, the B2 English requirement and the personal-preparation check — not by competition against other candidates for a limited number of places. | Seats (non-EU reserved): No reserved quota for non-EU citizens resident abroad is published for this programme on any unina.it, orientamento.unina.it, international.unina.it, corsi.unina.it or diarc.archer.unina.it page. This is consistent with the programme being open access: Federico II publishes numeric non-EU quotas only for its restricted-access ('numero programmato') courses. For reference, in the architecture area the 2026/27 architect competition decree D.R. 2379/2026 reserves 3 seats for non-EU citizens resident abroad on the single-cycle LM-4 Architettura, 2 seats (of which 1 for Chinese citizens under the 'Marco Polo' programme) on the single-cycle LM-4 Ingegneria edile-architettura, and 4 seats on the L-17 Scienze dell'Architettura — but ARCHER is not covered by that decree and none of those numbers applies to it. What non-EU applicants face instead is a qualitative gate (dossier + portfolio + interview + pre-admission letter) rather than a numeric quota. Italian universities do declare a non-EU 'contingente' per course on the Universitaly portal each year, but Federico II does not publish that figure for ARCHER on its own websites, so the exact number (if any) could not be verified from official unina.it sources and should be confirmed directly with infodiarcarcher@unina.it or segrearch@unina.it.
Set out in Art. 4 of the 2025/26 Didactic Regulations (source: SUA-CdS framework A3.a - RAD). The entry requirements are:
(1) DEGREE: possession of a degree in class L-17 – Scienze dell'Architettura (Sciences of Architecture), or in the old class 4 under Ministerial Decree 509/1999; OR possession of any three-year university degree or diploma (DM 270/04, art. 6) or a qualification obtained abroad in which the essential training activities of the L-17 curriculum have been completed. The ARCHER application-rules page phrases this simply as "Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Sciences (class L-17) or equivalent".
Dil yeterliliği
ENGLISH (mandatory, hard requirement): a level of knowledge of English not lower than B2 of the CEFR. This is stated identically on the orientamento page, on the ARCHER application-rules page and in Art. 4 of the Didactic Regulations. Art. 5 of the Didactic Regulations specifies the method of proof: 'Possession of a level of knowledge of the English language not lower than B2 of the CEFR, necessary for admission to the Degree Course, is verified through certifications from institutions legally recognized by the MUR pursuant the Ministerial Decree 9/2/2021 or subsequent regulations.' Non-EU applicants must upload a 'CEFR minimum level B2 English certification' as part of their pre-admission dossier. No specific numeric thresholds (e.g. an IELTS band or TOEFL score) and no list of named providers are published on the programme's own pages — the reference is generic to MUR-recognised certifying bodies under D.M. 9/2/2021, which in practice covers Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, Trinity, Pearson and the other accredited providers. No provision for a university-run English placement test in lieu of a certificate is published, and no explicit exemption is published for applicants whose previous degree was taught in English.
ITALIAN (soft requirement, unusual for an English-taught degree): 'a minimum level of knowledge of the Italian language' is listed among the entry requirements. No CEFR level or certificate is specified. The Didactic Regulations state that the level is assessed 'during an interview' and that, where insufficient, 'students are directed to include in their didactic path's activities aimed at learning and strengthening their knowledge of the Italian language'. The study plan supports this: the 'Ulteriori attività formative' slot explicitly covers 'specific attention to the Italian language for foreign students', with a pass ('idoneità') awarded on presentation of a detailed report on the language work done, and the orientamento page notes that tutoring activities encourage international students to reach an acceptable level of Italian with the support of the University Language Centre (CLA). Separately, the University's international admission-regulation page confirms that for a degree course delivered in ENGLISH 'level B2 Italian language proficiency is not required' for the Universitaly pre-enrolment / visa stage, and that an international English certificate 'is useful for the issue of the visa by the diplomatic/consular Representation'. So: B2 English is a genuine gate; Italian is a soft, remediable requirement checked at interview and never a B2 threshold.
Sınav / değerlendirme
NO written entrance examination, NO TOLC, NO SAT and NO national admission test are required for this programme. The course is open access ('accesso libero') and Art. 5 of the Didactic Regulations states plainly that 'The Degree Program does not include local access programming'. Federico II's 2026/27 restricted-access competition for architect-training courses (D.R. 2379 of 18/06/2026) covers only the single-cycle LM-4 Architettura, the single-cycle LM-4 Ingegneria edile-architettura and the L-17 Scienze dell'Architettura — the two-year LM-4 ARCHER is deliberately excluded, so there is no admission test to sit and no ranking to place in.
WHAT IS ASSESSED INSTEAD:
• Curricular-requirement check: the Segreteria/CCD verifies the SSD-by-SSD credit table against the applicant's transcript.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture; transcripts of courses and exams
CEFR minimum level B2 English certification; a letter of recommendation from a teacher expressly addressed to the ARCHER course (subject to verification); a letter of motivation; and a portfolio no longer than 20 pages 'with clear reference to design activities that concerned built heritage and landscape'. The 2024/25 ARCHER booklet gives infodiarcarcher@unina.it as the address to send the same dossier to. An interview normally follows, then the department issues a pre-admission letter.
1) ADMISSION TYPE — RESOLVED WITH HIGH CONFIDENCE. The natural worry with an LM-4 programme is that it might fall under the national restricted-access regime for 'corsi finalizzati alla formazione di Architetto' (Law 264/1999). It does not. Three independent official sources agree: orientamento.unina.it records 'Admission: Libero'; Art. 5 of the 2025/26 Didactic Regulations states the course 'does not include local access programming'; and Federico II's own 2026/27 architect competition decree (D.R. 2379 of 18/06/2026) enumerates in Art. 1 only the single-cycle LM-4 Architettura, the single-cycle LM-4 Ingegneria edile-architettura and the L-17 Scienze dell'Architettura. The national test requirement appears in ARCHER's rules only retrospectively and only for Italian citizens, i.e. as proof that the applicant already passed the architecture entrance test when entering their bachelor. Note that international.unina.it's generic sentence 'Registration for admission tests for the Master of Science degree courses in Medicine and Surgery... and for courses aimed at training as an Architect, is carried out according to the procedures active on the portal' refers to those three restricted courses, not to ARCHER.
2) NON-EU APPLICATION DEADLINE CONFLICT. The programme page sets 31 Mayıs 2026 for the Universitaly submission; international.unina.it sets the university-wide pre-enrolment deadline at 15 Haziran 2026 and extends it beyond that date only for RESTRICTED-access programmes — which ARCHER is not. The safe reading is that 31 Mayıs 2026 binds for ARCHER. Marked [uncertain] in application_deadline_non_eu. The 2024/25 booklet additionally contradicts itself internally (15 June vs 15 July 2024), which shows the department is not always precise about this date; applicants should confirm by email.
3) BOTH 2026/27 INTERNATIONAL DEADLINES HAVE ALREADY PASSED at the 30 Ağustos 2026 capture date (31 May and 15 June 2026). No a.y. 2027/28 dates were published on any unina.it page at capture time. Any 2027/28 figure would be an inference, and none is asserted here as fact.
4) EU/GENERAL ENROLMENT DEADLINE CONFLICT. unina.it says the Segrepass enrolment window runs 16 July – 2 November 2026; orientamento.unina.it says 16 July – 31 October 2026. Separately, the programme's own first-enrolment deadline is 31 December 2026 and the fee guide permits master's first-year enrolment up to 31 March 2027 — so three different 'deadlines' coexist, each governing a different thing (the standard fee-instalment window, the programme's own cut-off, and the statutory outer limit). Marked [uncertain] in application_deadline_eu.
5) LATE-ENROLMENT CFU THRESHOLD CONFLICT. orientamento.unina.it says 10 CFU; the ARCHER application-rules page says 8 CFU; the 2026/27 university guide sets a 6–12 CFU band within which each CCD chooses. The programme page's 8 CFU is the most specific and is used here.
6) REGIONAL TAX FIGURE CONFLICT. Two 2026/27 versions of the 'Guida rapida studente' are simultaneously online with different regional-tax bands (130/151/173 EUR vs 125.50/146.50/167.50 EUR). The 130/151/173 version is dated 10 July 2026, is linked from the unina.it news item, and cites D.M. 176 of 24 February 2026, so it is treated as current. Marked [uncertain] in tuition_or_fees_link. Note also that the summary figures on international.unina.it (200 EUR / 140 EUR) are stale.
7) NON-EU RESERVED SEATS NOT PUBLISHED. No non-EU quota for ARCHER appears anywhere on unina.it. This is expected for an open-access course, but it could not be positively confirmed that the quota is unlimited, because Italian universities do declare a per-course non-EU 'contingente' on Universitaly that Federico II does not mirror on its own sites. Marked [uncertain].
8) COURSE CODE / ACTIVATION YEAR. corsi.unina.it/DB2 gives 'Activation year 2020', while the course code changed from P53 to DB2 with the 2025/26 re-accreditation into class 'LM-4 R'. Both facts are consistent — the course has run since 2020 and was re-coded in 2025/26 — but a reader comparing the two class labels (LM-4 vs LM-4 R) may think they are different courses. They are not.
9) THE ITALIAN-LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT IS THE ONE NON-OBVIOUS BARRIER. Unlike most fully English-taught Italian master's programmes, ARCHER lists 'a minimum level of knowledge of the Italian language' among its formal entry requirements. It is not a B2 gate, has no named certificate, is assessed at interview and is remediable through study-plan activities — but it is a formal requirement and applicants with zero Italian should raise it with the coordinator in advance.
10) BROKEN APPLICATION LINK. The ARCHER application-rules page's 'APPLICATION' hyperlink points to a Google Forms EDIT URL (docs.google.com/forms/d/.../edit) that applicants cannot open, and the page misspells the portal as 'www.universitaly.com' (correct: www.universitaly.it). This is a live defect on the official page as of 30 Ağustos 2026 and means applicants realistically have to email infodiarcarcher@unina.it or the coordinator directly. It also implies the application-rules page may not be tightly maintained, which is a further reason to verify the dates directly.
11) NO DEDICATED PROGRAMME FEE STRUCTURE. ARCHER charges no separate international/English-track tuition — it uses Federico II's standard ISEEU system, under which non-EU citizens are fully exempt from the tuition contribution. This makes the effective annual cost for a non-EU student roughly 146–189 EUR (regional tax + stamp duty), which is unusually low and worth double-checking against the Segreteria before relying on it.
12) All data captured on 30 Ağustos 2026 exclusively from unina.it-family sources: orientamento.unina.it, corsi.unina.it, www.unina.it (including PDF decrees and guides), international.unina.it and diarc.archer.unina.it. No third-party aggregator was used for any factual field.
