NAPLES - FUORIGROTTA (the western engineering campus), not Monte Sant'Angelo, not San Giovanni a Teduccio, not Policlinico. Administrative seat: Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale (DII), Piazzale Tecchio 80, 80125 Napoli - given as the programme address on the orientamento.unina.it 'Directions' block, on the programme brochure and on the programme's own contacts page ('Location: Department of Industrial Engineering, Piazzale Tecchio 80, 80125 Naples, Italy'). TEACHING IS SPLIT OVER SEVERAL FUORIGROTTA BUILDINGS. Programme brochure 2026-2027, 'CAMPUS / LE SEDI AREA': 'The educational activities take place in various locations in Fuorigrotta (piazzale Tecchio, 80; via Claudio, 21; via nuova Agnano), where study rooms, libraries and laboratories are also available.' The orientamento.unina.it profile phrases the same area more loosely: 'Teaching activities take place at the Engineering facilities located in the western part of Naples, between Fuorigrotta and Bagnoli.' Live room and timetable allocation is published through the University's Student Agenda (https://easyacademy.unina.it/agendastudenti/index.php?view=rooms&include=rooms&_lang=en). STUDENT OFFICE for this degree: Segreteria Studenti / Ufficio Area Didattica Ingegneria of the Scuola Politecnica e delle Scienze di Base, also at Piazzale Tecchio 80. The research brief listed campus as 'to be verified'; it is now verified as Fuorigrotta / Piazzale Tecchio 80.

OPEN ACCESS (accesso libero / non a numero programmato), CONDITIONAL ON TWO CHECKS. There is no ranking, no competitive selection, no bando/call and no quota. What there is: (1) verification of CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS (a documentary check of the applicant's bachelor transcript against a list of minimum CFU per scientific-disciplinary sector), and (2) verification of the ADEQUACY OF PERSONAL PREPARATION, which is automatic if the bachelor weighted average is at least 24/30 and otherwise requires passing a multiple-choice admission test. Language competence is checked as part of (2). orientamento.unina.it summarises the access mode in one line: English profile 'Admission: Verifica di preparazione'; Italian profile 'Accesso: Verifica di preparazione'; entry qualification 'Degree required: Laurea I Livello' / 'Titolo di ingresso: Laurea I Livello'. orientamento.unina.it, Admission and prerequisites: 'Access to the Master's Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing is open, subject to verification of the possession of the curricular requirements specified in the Program's Teaching Regulations, as well as verification of the adequacy of the student's personal preparation.' CONFIRMED NOT RESTRICTED-ACCESS: the University's official 'Corsi a numero programmato' page for a.y. 2026/2027 does not list this programme, nor any LM-33 or any engineering Laurea Magistrale. The only engineering entry in that list is the single-cycle Ingegneria Edile-Architettura; the restricted-access Lauree Magistrali are Precision Livestock Farming, Professioni sanitarie, Psicologia Clinica e degli interventi nei contesti sociali e dello sviluppo, Scienze Enologiche and Scienze della Nutrizione Umana. The PAN/PAL/TA-OFA/TOLC admission machinery described on that page applies to BACHELOR degrees, not to this master's - there is NO TOLC and NO SAT for this programme. CURRICULUM CHOICE IS NOT A SELECTION. Entering the Sustainable Development curriculum is not competitive and has no separate quota; it is a declaration. Study Plan annex, note a): 'A student who wishes to follow the Sustainable Development Curriculum must notify this in writing at the time of enrollment.' The programme's Study Plans page adds: 'For newly enrolled students, the selection of an Automatically Approved Study Plan takes place directly during enrolment on Segrepass.' IF THE CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET, enrolment is refused until they are made up. Didactic Regulations Art. 5.3: 'Enrollment in the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing is not allowed if the minimum curricular requirements are not met. If the minimum requirements are not satisfied, the CCD assists the student by prescribing enrollment in individual courses offered by the University and passing the relevant exams before registration.' The department's access text lists three remedies the CCD may choose between: (a) integrations completed BEFORE enrolment via single course units (corsi singoli), (b) enrolment in a bachelor's degree that gives automatic access, with an abbreviated path, or (c) enrolment in the master's with an individual study plan containing an alignment path 'without any increase in the total number of CFU credits required'. FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS RESIDING ABROAD an additional national procedure sits on top: compulsory pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal, then a study visa. That is a visa procedure, not a selection - see application_deadline_non_eu.
Resmî Eğitim Dili
PROGRAMME LEVEL: Italian AND English. orientamento.unina.it lists 'Language ENG/ITA' on the English course profile and 'Lingua ITA/ENG' on the Italian one. The University's International course catalogue lists the entry as 'Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing ITA/ENG' (contrast the fully English degrees in the same list, marked '- ENG', e.g. Autonomous Vehicle Engineering, Data Science, Transportation Engineering and Mobility). Didactic Regulations Art. 1: the degree 'is offered in both Italian and English'. CURRICULUM LEVEL - THIS IS THE POINT OF THE ITEM: of the three curricula, ONLY 'Sustainable Development' is taught in English; the Generalist curriculum (five tracks) and the Railway Mechanics curriculum are taught in ITALIAN. Didactic Regulations Art. 2: 'The training path includes three curricula, one of which is taught entirely in English' and 'The third curriculum, in Sustainable Development, is taught in English.' Programme Catalogue A.Y. 2026-2027: 'The study programme offers three curricula, one of which is delivered entirely in English. ... The third curriculum, in Sustainable Development, is taught in English and aims at the design and realisation of industrial products that meet new or evolving user needs.' The orientamento.unina.it study-plan section heads the block 'The Curriculum in Sustainable Development (in English)'. PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCE FOR AN INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT: an applicant who does not speak Italian must commit to the Sustainable Development curriculum specifically, and must say so in writing. Study Plan annex, note a) to the Sustainable Development table: 'A student who wishes to follow the Sustainable Development Curriculum must notify this in writing at the time of enrollment.' Choosing any other curriculum, or drifting into Italian-taught electives from Tables G1/G2/G3, puts the student into Italian-taught classes. WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN ENGLISH INSIDE THE CURRICULUM: the Sustainable Development first-year mandatory pool (36 CFU chosen from Advanced Structural Mechanics, Mechanical vibrations, Logistics and Operation Management, Digital Modeling and Simulation for Industrial Engineering, Advanced and Resource Efficient Manufacturing) and the curricular/affine tables published for it (Table G1: Applied Mechanics for Energy Efficiency, Modeling and Experimentation for Smart Vehicles, AI aided Structural Design, Bio-Inspired Generative Design for Additive Manufacturing, Design of Mechatronic Systems, Design Methods for Sustainable Products, Additive Manufacturing, Green Manufacturing and Sustainability, Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies, Smart Production Systems, Smart Modelling of Industrial Production Systems; Table G2: Advanced and Sustainable Materials Selection, Statistical Learning for Industrial Engineering, Machine Learning for Engineering, Sustainable Metallurgy). Note that some of these titles also appear, in Italian, in the generalist tracks (e.g. 'Advanced and Resource Efficient Manufacturing' = 'Tecnologie Speciali'; 'Mechanical Vibrations' = 'Dinamica dei Sistemi Meccanici'; 'Logistics and Operation Management' = 'Gestione della Produzione Industriale'; 'Digital Modeling and Simulation for Industrial Engineering' = 'Modellazione Geometrica e Prototipazione Virtuale'), i.e. the same subject is delivered in Italian in the generalist tracks and in English in the Sustainable Development curriculum. I did not find a per-course language field published on unina.it confirming, course sheet by course sheet, that every Sustainable Development course is delivered in English; the English-medium claim rests on the Didactic Regulations, the Programme Catalogue and the orientamento profile, which state it directly for the curriculum as a whole. THESIS AND FINAL EXAM: may be in English regardless of curriculum - orientamento.unina.it: 'The written thesis and the defense may be presented in English.' NOTE ON ITALIAN: no Italian-language teaching requirement is imposed by the programme for the Sustainable Development curriculum, but the programme is administratively an Italian/English degree, and much of the department's own web material, the study-plan tables, the didactic calendar and the student secretariat operate in Italian. See language_requirements for the university-level Italian B2 question, which is genuinely unresolved for this programme.

NO PROGRAMME-SPECIFIC APPLICATION DEADLINE EXISTS FOR EU (AND EU-EQUIVALENT) CANDIDATES, because the programme is open access - there is no call, no application window and no ranking. What binds instead are (A) the admission-evaluation step, which has no fixed date but should be started early, (B) the University's enrolment calendar, and (C) the study-plan / curriculum-declaration deadline. All dates below are the University's official a.y. 2026/2027 dates from the binding 'Guida all'iscrizione Anno accademico 2026-27', the document the programme's own orientamento page points to under 'Application timeline'.
(A) ADMISSION EVALUATION - NO DEADLINE, DO IT EARLY. Holders of an Italian qualification apply through the School's graduate-admission procedure and are assessed by the CCD. Holders of a FOREIGN qualification who are EU citizens - or non-EU citizens legally resident in Italy or the EU - must, per international.unina.it, 'send your academic documents to the Coordinator of the course you wish to enrol in to find out whether you meet the enrolment requirements'; for this degree the Coordinator is Prof. Enrico Armentani (enrico.armentani@unina.it). If the bachelor average is under 24/30, the 35-question admission test must be scheduled - the published 2026 sessions are 20 Jan, 24 Feb, 07 Apr, 22 Jun, 21 Jul, 13 Oct, 10 Nov and 22 Dec, with a minimum one-month gap between attempts and no retake on the immediately following date after a fail. If the curricular requirements fall short, the CCD may require credits to be earned via single course units BEFORE enrolment, which can cost a semester or more. Start months ahead of the enrolment window.
(B) UNIVERSITY ENROLMENT CALENDAR FOR A.Y. 2026/2027 (Guida all'iscrizione 2026-27, 'Date importanti da ricordare per l'anno accademico 2026/27'):
AB / AEA dışı adaylar
FOR NON-EU CANDIDATES RESIDING ABROAD THERE IS A HARD, MINISTRY-DRIVEN DATE AND IT IS EARLY: 15 JUNE 2026.
- 15 Haziran 2026: PRE-ENROLMENT APPLICATION DEADLINE on the UNIVERSITALY portal, naming the University of Naples Federico II and this degree programme. international.unina.it, verbatim: 'JUNE - 15 - 2026 - Pre-enrolment application deadline to University of Naples Federico II. After this date no programme changes are permitted. After this date pre-enrolment is allowed to the programmes with restricted access only.' THIS IS THE OPERATIVE DEADLINE FOR THIS PROGRAMME: because it is OPEN access (not restricted access), non-EU pre-enrolment closes on 15 June 2026 and does NOT reopen. Miss it and the a.y. 2026/2027 intake is closed to you.
- 30 Kasım 2026: deadline for lodging the study-visa application at Italian Embassies/Consulates - 'NOVEMBER - 30 - 2026 - Deadline for submitting the Visa Application at Iyalian [sic] Embassies /Consulates.'

Akademik geçmiş
Seats (total): NO SEAT CAP - the programme is open access. No number of places is published anywhere on unina.it for this degree, because none exists: the University's official 'Corsi a numero programmato' list for a.y. 2026/2027 does not include this programme or any engineering Laurea Magistrale, and the orientamento.unina.it profile states access is 'open, subject to verification of the possession of the curricular requirements ... as well as verification of the adequacy of the student's personal preparation'. Anyone who clears the curricular and personal-preparation checks may enrol. Consequently there is no ranking list (graduatoria) and no bando fixing places. NO CAP ON THE CURRICULUM EITHER: the Sustainable Development curriculum has no published maximum number of students; entry to it is by written notification at enrolment, not by allocation. Class-size limits could in principle be applied administratively (e.g. laboratory capacity), but nothing of the kind is published for this programme. | Seats (non-EU reserved): NONE - no seats are reserved for, or capped for, non-EU applicants. Reserved non-EU quotas at Federico II exist only for restricted-access (numero programmato) programmes, and this programme is not one of them (verified against the University's 'Corsi a numero programmato' 2026/2027 list, which contains no LM-33 and no engineering Laurea Magistrale). Non-EU applicants residing abroad still have to go through the compulsory Universitaly pre-enrolment and study-visa procedure, but that is a visa pipeline with a hard DATE (15 June 2026), not a NUMBER of places - see application_deadline_non_eu. Non-EU applicants who are already legally resident in Italy or in an EU country are treated exactly like EU applicants: international.unina.it, 'Non-European candidates, wherever they reside and regularly residing in Italy or in a European Union country, have unrestricted access to university courses if they hold a qualification corresponding to the required Italian qualification ... You will therefore not need to pre-register on the Universitaly Portal.'
ENTRY QUALIFICATION. A Laurea (Italian three-year bachelor, including pre-DM 509/1999 degrees), or a three-year university diploma, or a foreign qualification recognised as equivalent. Didactic Regulations Art. 4: 'To enroll in a Master's Degree Course, a student must hold a Bachelor's Degree or a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as valid. Specific curricular requirements and a mandatory verification of the student's personal preparation are also required. This includes the possession of adequate language skills.' orientamento.unina.it lists the entry title as 'Laurea I Livello'.
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENT - ROUTE 1 (automatic): hold a bachelor's degree in the Italian class L-9 Industrial Engineering (or Class 10 of DM 509/99), or an equivalent qualification.
Dil yeterliliği
THREE SEPARATE LANGUAGE RULES OPERATE AT THREE LEVELS AND THEY ARE NOT ALIGNED. Read all three; the third is the one that can actually derail a non-EU applicant to this particular degree.
RULE 1 - PROGRAMME LEVEL, FOR ADMISSION: B1 in ITALIAN **OR** ENGLISH, and only if you cannot show a degree taught in one of those languages. This is only B1, not B2, and Italian is an accepted alternative to English. Didactic Regulations Art. 5, verbatim: 'Regarding the verification of language skills, students who do not hold a qualification obtained by attending a study program delivered in Italian or English, and who do not have certifications or language qualifications attesting to their knowledge of Italian or English at least at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), must demonstrate adequate comprehension and conversation skills in either Italian or English through a proficiency test.' Practical effect: a bachelor's degree delivered in English satisfies the programme's own admission language rule outright, with no certificate at all.
RULE 2 - PROGRAMME LEVEL, FOR GRADUATION: B2 in an EU language other than Italian - in practice English - carried as 3 CFU of 'Additional Language Skills'. This is NOT an entry barrier; it is a graduation requirement you can satisfy during the degree. Didactic Regulations Art. 5: 'since to obtain the Master's Degree the student must be able to use a European Union language fluently, in addition to Italian, the study plan includes a sufficient number of CFU (at least 3) to acquire Additional language knowledge, particularly in English. The attainment of this knowledge, at least at level B2, will be certified in accordance with the methods defined by the University's Language Center (www.cla.unina.it). Students already in possession of an English certificate at least at the B2 level upon registration may request its recognition.' The Study Plan annex repeats it as note c) on the Sustainable Development table and the orientamento study-plan listing shows it as first-year item d) 'foreign language proficiency (e.g., English B2 level certification or equivalent), 3 CFU'.
Sınav / değerlendirme
THERE IS AN ADMISSION TEST, BUT MOST APPLICANTS NEVER SIT IT. It is triggered only when the applicant's bachelor weighted average is below 24/30 (see academic_requirements). It is a threshold test, not a competitive one - there is no ranking and no quota, you either clear the bar or you retake.
FORMAT (department's published access rules, per the Teaching Coordination Committee resolution of 23 July 2024): 'The admission test consists of a questionnaire made up of 35 multiple-choice questions, randomly drawn from a pool of 140. In particular, in order to provide balanced coverage of the seven characterising subject areas of Mechanical Engineering (IIND-06/A ex ING-IND/08, IIND-07/A ex ING-IND/10, IIND-02/A ex ING-IND/13, IIND-03/A ex ING-IND/14, IIND-03/B ex ING-IND/15, IIND-04/A ex ING-IND/16, IIND-05/A ex ING-IND/17), 5 questions are randomly selected from 20 available for each subject area. The test is considered passed if the student answers correctly at least 21 of the 35 questions.'
PASS MARK: 21/35 (60%). SEVEN SUBJECT AREAS x 5 QUESTIONS: fluid machinery, industrial thermal engineering, applied mechanics, mechanical design and machine construction, industrial engineering drawing/design methods, manufacturing technologies and systems, mechanical industrial plants.
3. Hazırlanacak belgeler
THERE IS NO SINGLE PUBLISHED CHECKLIST FOR THIS PROGRAMME. Four different lists apply depending on who you are and which stage you are at.
(1) FOR THE ACADEMIC EVALUATION BY THE PROGRAMME COORDINATOR / CCD (every applicant with a foreign qualification, EU or non-EU). international.unina.it requires you to 'send your academic documents to the Coordinator of the course you wish to enrol in' and to 'produce any documentation that the University deems necessary for the evaluation of the foreign qualification':
1. DIPLOMA NAME vs CURRICULUM NAME - THE CENTRAL POINT OF THIS RECORD. The qualification awarded is the Italian degree 'Ingegneria Meccanica per la Progettazione e la Produzione' (class LM-33). 'Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing' is the University's official English rendering of that same degree (Didactic Regulations cover; International course catalogue), and 'Sustainable Development' is a curriculum inside it, not a degree title. [uncertain] I found NO unina.it text stating whether the curriculum name is printed on the diploma or on the Diploma Supplement. Italian practice is normally that the curriculum appears on the Diploma Supplement and the transcript, not on the diploma parchment, but that is inference, not a sourced fact for this programme. Anyone relying on the English-language identity of this qualification abroad should assume the certificate reads the Italian degree name.
2. CORRECTION TO THE RESEARCH BRIEF - THE PROGRAMME HAS THREE CURRICULA, NOT FIVE. The brief says 'Of the programme's 5 curricula, only the Sustainable Development curriculum is taught in English.' The 2026/2027 official sources say three curricula: a Generalist curriculum (itself subdivided into FIVE tracks), a Railway Mechanics curriculum, and the Sustainable Development curriculum. The 'five' in the brief is the number of tracks in the generalist curriculum. The substantive claim in the brief is nonetheless correct: exactly one curriculum, Sustainable Development, is taught in English, and the rest are in Italian.
3. ENGLISH NAME INCONSISTENCY WITHIN UNINA.IT. The same department uses 'Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing' (Didactic Regulations, General Information page, brochure, contacts page, International course catalogue) and 'Mechanical Engineering for Design and Production' (site navigation, orientation page, access-requirements text). Track names also vary: 'Advanced and Smart Production' vs 'Advanced and Smart Manufacturing'; 'Road Vehicle Design' vs 'Vehicle Design'; 'Technological Processes' vs 'Manufacturing Processes'. Same programme in all cases.
4. THE ITALIAN B2 QUESTION FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS IS GENUINELY UNRESOLVED, AND IT IS THE BIGGEST PRACTICAL RISK IN THIS RECORD. The University waives Italian B2 for courses 'in ENGLISH' but registers this degree as ITA/ENG, and Universitaly pre-enrolment is filed against the DEGREE, which has no curriculum field. The waiver sentence on international.unina.it also lists 'three-year, five-year or single-cycle' and omits the two-year magistrale, while the sentence imposing Italian B2 explicitly names 'magistral degree course'. Get this confirmed in writing by the coordinator before filing on Universitaly.
5. NO PUBLISHED INTERNATIONAL-ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE FOR THIS DEGREE. The department publishes a full international FAQ (documents, Google Form, evaluation, Letter of Acceptance) only for the SISTER degree, Mechanical Engineering for Energy and Environment (LM-IMEA), whose English curriculum is 'Sustainable Energy'. Nothing equivalent exists for LM-IMPP. Everything in required_documents item (4) about a Letter of Acceptance and an English B2/MOI requirement is LM-IMEA practice, cited as a realistic preview, not as a rule for this degree.
6. AN INTERNAL CONTRADICTION ABOUT ADMISSION LETTERS. international.unina.it states flatly 'The University of Naples Federico II does not issue admission letters for obtaining a visa', while the department's LM-IMEA FAQ describes issuing a Letter of Acceptance uploaded to Universitaly by the Student Office. Both are unina.it pages. For LM-IMPP nothing is published either way.
7. FEE FIGURES CONFLICT ON UNINA.IT: the binding Guida all'iscrizione 2026-27 gives banded regional taxes of EUR 130 / 151 / 173 (D.M. 176 of 24 February 2026), while international.unina.it still shows a flat EUR 140. Use the Guida. The tuition components (EUR 200 for EU citizens, total exemption for non-EU citizens) agree across both.
8. SSD LIST DRIFT. The Didactic Regulations 2026-2027 list of acceptable sectors includes IIND-01/F (Fluid dynamics), IIND-01/G (Aerospace propulsion) and PHYS-04/A (Theoretical physics of matter), which do not appear in the department orientation page's rendering; the orientation page in turn labels CHEM-04/A as 'ex CHIM/05 - INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY' while the Regulations call it 'Science and Technology of Polymeric Materials'. The Regulations are the newer and controlling text. Also note the department's access statement is anchored to a Teaching Coordination Committee resolution of 23 JULY 2024, i.e. it predates the 2026-2027 Regulations.
9. NO PUBLISHED FOREIGN-GRADE CONVERSION for the M >= 24/30 personal-preparation threshold, and no published turnaround time for the CCD's evaluation of a foreign transcript. Both are decided case by case.
10. PER-COURSE LANGUAGE NOT VERIFIED. The English-medium claim for the Sustainable Development curriculum rests on the Didactic Regulations, the Programme Catalogue and the orientamento profile, all of which state it for the curriculum as a whole. I did not find course-sheet-level language fields on unina.it confirming each individual course. Note that several Sustainable Development courses have Italian twins in the generalist tracks (e.g. 'Advanced and Resource Efficient Manufacturing' = 'Tecnologie Speciali'), so course titles alone are not proof of delivery language.
11. corsi.unina.it/D19 COULD NOT BE READ. The University's course-catalogue portal is an Angular single-page application that returns only an HTML shell to non-JavaScript clients and exposes no public JSON endpoint that could be located; several probe URLs returned the SPA shell. The course code D19 is nonetheless firmly established from the programme's own contacts page and from an existing course-sheet URL of the form corsi.unina.it/D19/insegnamenti/... . Ministerial data (activation year, exact ordinamento wording, official seat data) could not be read from that portal.
12. STALE / PENDING PROGRAMME PAGES. The programme's contacts page (updated 27 July 2026) states the 2026/2027 tutor list is 'awaiting formal confirmation' and that the published examination-calendar spreadsheet 'still contains only the a.a. 2025_2026 tab and should not be used as the 2026/2027 examination calendar'. Separately, the legacy old.unina.it record for this degree still names Prof. Luigi Carrino as coordinator; the current coordinator is Prof. Enrico Armentani.
13. ADMISSION-TEST LOGISTICS FOR OVERSEAS CANDIDATES ARE UNDOCUMENTED. The published session dates run only to December 2026; no 2027 dates were published at the research date. Nothing states whether the paper is available in English or whether it can be sat remotely from abroad - a material gap for a non-EU applicant whose bachelor average is below 24/30 and who must clear the test before the 15 June 2026 Universitaly deadline.
14. THE MINISTRY'S 2026-2027 INTERNATIONAL-STUDENTS CIRCULAR, linked from international.unina.it, is hosted on universitaly-private.cineca.it (not unina.it) and the file downloaded empty at the research date, so its text could not be checked against the unina.it summary.
15. SCOPE NOTE ON SOURCES. Per the brief, only unina.it sources were used for substantive claims (orientamento.unina.it, international.unina.it, unina.it, meccanica.dii.unina.it, scuolapsb.unina.it, old.unina.it). AlmaLaurea, statistiche.almalaurea.it and other third-party aggregators were seen in search results but are not relied on; the AlmaLaurea codicione 0630107303400001 is mentioned only as an identifier cross-reference.
