1) Upper-secondary school diploma. When the diploma was issued by a non-Italian school, the applicant must obtain a 'Dichiarazione di Valore' (Declaration of Value, DoV) from the Italian embassy/consulate, or alternatively a CIMEA statement of comparability, certifying that the diploma was obtained after AT LEAST 12 YEARS of pre-university education. 2) Both EU and non-EU candidates must demonstrate personal preparation in two areas: (a) logical ability - correctly interpreting a text, identifying the input data of a problem and using them to reach a solution, deducing the behaviour of a simple system, linking results to the hypotheses that determine them; (b) basic scientific knowledge - properties and operations on numbers, absolute value, powers and roots, logarithms and exponentials, literal calculus, polynomials, first- and second-degree algebraic equations and inequalities, systems of first-degree equations, measure and properties of segments and angles, lines and planes, properties of the main plane and solid geometric figures, Cartesian coordinates, concept of function, equations of lines and simple geometric loci, graphs and properties of elementary and trigonometric functions, elementary physics and basic knowledge of the structure of matter. 3) This preparation is verified by the compulsory entry test (see entry_exam_or_test). 4) Degree structure to be completed: 3 years, 180 CFU. 5) There is no prior-degree or minimum-GPA requirement; no interview and no portfolio are required.

English at CEFR B2 or higher is COMPULSORY for both EU and non-EU candidates, and must be evidenced by a certificate; the level is verified before enrolment by the University Language Centre (CLA, www.cla.unina.it). MOI (Medium of Instruction) certificates are explicitly NO LONGER accepted. Certifying bodies recognised by UNINA and listed on the program admission page: Cambridge Assessment English; City and Guilds (Pitman); Edexcel/Pearson Ltd; Educational Testing Service (ETS); English Speaking Board (ESB); IELTS; Pearson; Trinity College London; Department of English, Faculty of Arts - University of Malta; NQAI-ACELS (Ireland); Ascentis; AIM Awards; Learning Resource Network (LRN); British Council EnglishScore; British Institutes; Gatehouse Awards Ltd; TOEFL; LanguageCert; ESaT Malta; AELS NOCN; Duolingo (with verification code). The page warns that if English proficiency is only tested AFTER enrolment, the visa procedure at embassies/consulates may fail - so the certificate should be in hand at pre-admission stage. Italian language: NOT required (no Italian B2), because the degree is delivered in English; the university admission regulation states that for English-taught first-cycle courses 'level B2 Italian language proficiency is not required'. No minimum numeric score per certificate (e.g. IELTS band, TOEFL score) is published on the unina.it pages - only the B2 CEFR level.

• Compulsory entry test, taken BEFORE enrolment, no interview and no portfolio. CURRENT RULE (from 2026): the English TOLC-I has been discontinued and replaced by the unified CEnT-S test (CISIA English test used by Italian universities for English-taught scientific degrees
• 55 questions, maximum score 55). Minimum score required for enrolment: 11 out of 55, i.e. the stated 'minimum threshold of 20% of the maximum score for the test'. ALTERNATIVE (new, for a.y. 2026-27): the admission requirement can instead be met with an SAT score, accepted if larger than 20% of the maximum, i.e. at least 320 marks out of 1600. PREVIOUS RULE (up to and including the 2025/26 intake): English TOLC-I administered by the CISIA Consortium, taken remotely (TOLC@CASA) after registering on the CISIA website, and repeatable. OFA (Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi): admitted candidates who did not score more than 50% of the marks available in the Mathematics section (i.e. 10) AND at least 15 marks overall (out of the 50 available points) are assigned an OFA requiring them to acquire at least 9 CFU in the MATH-03/A subject area (former MAT/05) before being allowed to sit ANY other examination; the educational debt must in any case be cleared within the first year. Two unresolved inconsistencies: (1) the OFA thresholds are still written in TOLC-I terms (20-point Mathematics section, 50-point total) while the qualifying test is now CEnT-S with a 55-point maximum - the page does not restate the OFA thresholds on the CEnT-S scale
• (2) the Scuola Politecnica e delle Scienze di Base page still advertises TOLC-I (TOLC@CASA and TOLC@UNI, minimum score 15 excluding the English section) with 2026 session dates for a.y. 2026/2027 - most plausibly because TOLC-I remains the test for the Italian-taught engineering bachelors while CEnT-S covers the English-taught ones, but no unina.it page states this split explicitly.
