1) Upper secondary school diploma, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad recognised as suitable. 2) The diploma must have been awarded after AT LEAST 12 YEARS of pre-university education — this is stated repeatedly and is the single most common disqualifier for non-EU applicants. 3) For non-Italian diplomas, a "Dichiarazione di Valore" (Declaration of Value) issued by the competent Italian embassy/consulate, or as an alternative a CIMEA (Italian ENIC-NARIC centre) Certificate of Comparability. 4) Required subject preparation, formally assessed by the entry test: (a) logical ability — correctly interpreting the meaning of a text, identifying the input data of a problem and using them to reach a solution, deducing the behaviour of a simple system, linking results to the hypotheses that determine them; (b) basic scientific knowledge — properties and operations on numbers, absolute value, powers and roots, logarithms and exponentials, literal calculus, polynomials, first- and second-degree algebraic equations and inequalities, systems of first-degree equations, measure and properties of segments and angles, lines and planes, properties of the main plane and solid geometric figures, Cartesian coordinates, concept of function, equations of lines and simple geometric loci, graphs and properties of elementary and trigonometric functions, elementary physics and basic knowledge of the structure of matter. 5) EU applicants (and non-EU applicants legally resident in Italy/EU) have unrestricted access if they hold a qualification corresponding to the required Italian qualification, but must send their academic documents to the Degree Programme Coordinator for the qualification assessment (translations, legalisations, Diploma Supplement, exam certificates, CIMEA certificate, Declaration of Value as applicable).
