CONFIRMED — Complesso Universitario di Monte Sant'Angelo, Via Vicinale Cupa Cintia 21, 80126 Napoli, Italy. This resolves the "to be verified" flag in the research brief. The teaching department is DiSTAR, whose official published address (department website footer) is: "Complesso Universitario di Monte Sant'Angelo (Ed. 10), Via Vicinale Cupa Cintia 21, 80126 NAPOLI", tel. +39 081 2532146, dip.scienze-terambris@unina.it. The orientamento course sheet, "Links Department", confirms both the campus and the fact that student-facing services sit in the same building: "The courses are held at DiSTAR (Dipartimento d Scienze della Terra, dell'Ambiente e delle Risorse), Monte Sant'Angelo Campus Builing 10, Via Vicinale Cupa Cintia 21 - 80126 Naples, where also the library and the student bureau are located." MINOR BUILDING-LABEL DISCREPANCY (does not affect the campus). The programme's own site says a different building letter: volcanology.unina.it/about — "Courses are held in Napoli at Earth, Environment and Resources Sciences Department (DiSTAR) of Federico II University - Monte Sant'Angelo campus - building L." Both refer to the same DiSTAR premises on the Monte Sant'Angelo complex; "Ed. 10" is the label used in the department's own official postal address and on the orientamento sheet, so "Building 10" should be treated as authoritative and "building L" as a legacy label. Applicants should use the Cupa Cintia 21 address, which both sources agree on. GETTING THERE (orientamento course sheet, Connections): "You can reach the campus by bus from the Campi Flegrei metro station (Linea 2 Trenitalia), from Mostra station of Cumana railway and by several private buses from other towns in the neighborhoods of Naples." SECOND SITE — INGV-OSSERVATORIO VESUVIANO. Internships are hosted off-campus at INGV-OV: "INGV-OV will host students for internships in the headquarters of Via Diocleziano, 3 km far from the campus site." Field teaching takes place across the Neapolitan volcanic district (Campi Flegrei, Vesuvius, Ischia), and students may also be placed at INGV operations centres on Vulcano and Stromboli, at other INGV offices, at foreign volcano observatories, or at the Italian Civil Protection offices in Rome. Graduation-administration site: the Student Administration Office of the Faculty of Science is in the "Centri Comuni" building at the same Monte Sant'Angelo campus (programme Documentation page).

Kabul Tipi
OPEN ACCESS WITH A COMPULSORY ELIGIBILITY INTERVIEW — the two halves of this description must be read together, because taking either one alone gives a misleading picture. 1) NO NUMERUS CLAUSUS, NO RANKING, NO BANDO. The orientamento course sheet header states "Admission Libero" (free/open access). There is therefore no competitive selection, no merit ranking, no admission call (bando) and no capped number of places. Applicants are not competing against each other. The University confirms the administrative consequence: for open-access courses "La procedura di immatricolazione ai corsi ad accesso libero è solo telematica ed è effettuata attraverso la piattaforma Segrepass" (unina.it, "Immatricolarsi alla Federico II per l'a.a. 2026/2027"). 2) BUT ADMISSION IS NOT AUTOMATIC — A PERSONAL-PREPARATION INTERVIEW IS MANDATORY. Didactic Regulations, Art. 5: "Verification of personal preparation is always mandatory, and only students who meet the curricular requirements can access it" and "The verification of the student's personal preparation is carried out through an interview." A three-professor committee, appointed annually by the programme's Teaching Commission, assesses the candidate's background and issues a written clearance ("nulla-osta") without which the student cannot enrol. The interview is a PASS/FAIL eligibility gate, not a scored competition: nothing the candidate does produces a rank. 3) EXEMPTION FROM THE INTERVIEW. Didactic Regulations, Art. 5: "Bachelor's degree graduates who have obtained a bachelor's degree in the L34 class (Geological Sciences) or in the class 16 ex D.M. 509/1999, with a score higher than 90/110, are exempt from the verification and obtaining clearance." In practice this exempts a subset of Italian geology graduates only; essentially every international applicant goes through the interview. 4) TWO SEPARATE ADMINISTRATIVE ROUTES, DEPENDING ON CITIZENSHIP AND RESIDENCE. - Italian / EU citizens, and non-EU citizens legally resident in Italy or an EU country (no visa needed): direct route. Send academic documents to the Course Coordinator for the eligibility assessment, then enrol online via Segrepass. Signposted on both the orientamento sheet and volcanology.unina.it/about: "For Italian students, please see https://www.segrepass1.unina.it/Welcome.do". international.unina.it (EU Students): such candidates "have unrestricted access to university courses if you hold a foreign qualification corresponding to the required Italian qualification", and must "send your academic documents to the Coordinator of the course you wish to enrol in". - Non-EU citizens resident abroad (visa needed): compulsory pre-enrolment on the MUR Universitaly portal, validated by the University, followed by a study-visa application. The Coordinator's eligibility assessment produces a PRE-ACCEPTANCE LETTER, which is the document the embassy needs. Programme news item (6 May 2026): "The Coordinator of the programme will be provided with the applicants' curricula in order to assess their eligibility. Where the requirements are met, a pre-acceptance letter will be issued. Please note that the pre-acceptance letter is a mandatory document for obtaining a study visa". 5) NO ENTRANCE TEST OF ANY KIND. Not TOLC, not SAT, not a national MUR test. The national admission tests referenced on international.unina.it apply only to Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Architecture — not to this programme. 6) PRE-ENROLMENT IS NOT ADMISSION. Official 2026/2027 non-EU brochure (DiSTAR/Federico II): "Pre-enrolment alone does not grant admission to degree programmes. Applicants must meet all academic and admission requirements." And: "The issuance of a visa does not automatically guarantee enrolment at the University."
Resmî Eğitim Dili
English — 100% English-medium, with no Italian-taught component and no Italian-language entry requirement. This is confirmed by five independent official sources with no conflicting evidence: (a) orientamento.unina.it course sheet header: "Language ENG". (b) Course register API record for DH1 (and P67): "linguaIta": "INGLESE", "linguaEng": "English". (c) Didactic Regulations, Art. 1, quoting the SUA-CdS: "Teaching language - English". (d) Didactic Regulations, Art. 4: "Considering that the course is delivered entirely in English, proficiency in the English language equivalent to European level B2 or higher, duly certified, is required." (e) SUA-CdS 2026 course description: "Il percorso di studi è rivolto a una platea studentesca internazionale e, pertanto, tutte le attività sono previste in inglese, per cui il corso di LM si configura come corso 'a carattere internazionale'" (the programme is aimed at an international student body and therefore all activities are delivered in English, so the LM is configured as a course "of international character"). CONSEQUENCE FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS — NO ITALIAN B2 REQUIRED. Because the programme is English-taught, the University's blanket Italian B2 rule for Italian-taught degrees does not apply. international.unina.it/admission-regulation: "If you choose a three-year, five-year or single-cycle degree course in ENGLISH, level B2 Italian language proficiency is not required." The same page adds that an international English certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge) is nevertheless "useful for the issue of the visa by the diplomatic/consular Representation". Italian is offered as an optional support subject, not as a barrier: the study plan carries "Italian (for foreign students)/other activities 6 CFU", and students who do not need Italian language courses may, on request to the LM committee, convert those 6 CFU into additional traineeship activity (orientamento course sheet, Traineeship opportunities).

There is NO competitive application deadline, because the programme is open access and issues no bando. What binds EU, Italian and EU-equivalent candidates instead is (i) the University's ENROLMENT (immatricolazione) window and (ii) the date of the admission-interview session they attend.
A.Y. 2026/2027 ENROLMENT WINDOW — CONFIRMED, THE OPERATIVE DEADLINE

NON-EU CITIZENS RESIDING ABROAD follow a separate, much earlier and legally binding track governed by the visa timetable. The three dates below are stated verbatim in the official Federico II brochure "INFORMATION FOR NON-EU STUDENTS WITH RESIDENCY ABROAD — Admission to Degree Programmes at University of Naples Federico II, 2026/2027", published on the DiSTAR site and linked from the programme's own news page, and the first two are repeated on international.unina.it/admission-regulation.
1) 15 JUNE 2026 — PRE-ENROLMENT DEADLINE (ISO: 15 Haziran 2026). The hard deadline for submitting the Universitaly pre-enrolment application naming Federico II and this programme. Brochure, Deadlines page: "JUNE 15 2026 — Pre-enrolment application deadline to University of Naples Federico II. After this date no programme changes are permitted. After this date pre-enrolment is allowed to the programmes with restricted access only." international.unina.it repeats it identically. Because Volcanology is OPEN access, the second sentence means the door effectively closes on 15 June for this programme: after that date, pre-enrolment remains possible only for restricted-access courses. The programme's own news item of 6 May 2026 confirms: "the Universitaly platform is now open for pre-enrolment applications for our Master's Degree Programme. The platform will remain available until 15 June."
2) 30 NOVEMBER 2026 — VISA APPLICATION DEADLINE (ISO: 30 Kasım 2026). Brochure: "NOV 30 2026 — Deadline for submitting the visa application at Italian Embassies/Consulates." Same date on international.unina.it.

Akademik geçmiş
Seats (total): NO SEAT LIMIT — the programme is open access and no maximum number of places is published on any unina.it source. This is a positive, sourced finding rather than a gap: the orientamento course sheet header states "Admission Libero", and Federico II's own definition of that status (unina.it, "Immatricolarsi alla Federico II per l'a.a. 2026/2027") is that enrolment happens directly online via Segrepass, with capped programmes handled instead through published bandi: "Questa modalità d'iscrizioni al primo anno può essere utilizzata solo per immatricolarsi ai corsi ad accesso libero; per le lauree a numero programmato la procedura si differenzia in termini di modalità e termini di scadenze a seconda dei bandi pubblicati." No such bando exists for Volcanology.
What limits intake in practice is the eligibility gate (60/24 CFU + interview + English B2), not a quota. A candidate who satisfies the requirements is not turned away because places have run out.
CONTEXT ON ACTUAL COHORT SIZE (not an official cap). The SUA-CdS repeatedly describes the programme as small and designed to be small — SUA-CdS 2026, framework B5b, justifies its tutoring model by "i numeri contenuti" (the small numbers) and notes that in-course tutoring can be delivered by the course lecturers themselves. Externally, press coverage of the programme (Nature Italy

ENGLISH — B2 (CEFR), certified. Compulsory for applicants of every nationality, including EU and Italian applicants, and treated as an admission requirement rather than a formality. NO ITALIAN REQUIREMENT.
THE REQUIREMENT
- Didactic Regulations, Art. 4: "Considering that the course is delivered entirely in English, proficiency in the English language equivalent to European level B2 or higher, duly certified, is required."
Sınav / değerlendirme
NO written entrance examination, NO TOLC, NO SAT, NO national MUR test, NO portfolio — but there IS a COMPULSORY ADMISSION INTERVIEW (colloquio) that functions as a pass/fail eligibility gate. This is the single most commonly misunderstood point about this programme: "Admission Libero" on the orientamento sheet means no numerus clausus, not "no assessment".
WHAT THE INTERVIEW IS
Didactic Regulations, Art. 5 (identical in substance to SUA-CdS 2026, framework REQ_ACC_2):
3. Hazırlanacak belgeler
No single consolidated official checklist covers the whole journey. The lists below are the published official fragments, in the order a candidate needs them. Marked uncertain because the document list the programme's own admission committee expects at the ELIGIBILITY/INTERVIEW stage is nowhere published — the Regulations say only that the Committee decides "Based on the student's curriculum vitae and the outcomes of the interview".
A) ELIGIBILITY / PRE-ACCEPTANCE STAGE (all applicants)
The programme instructs candidates to send documents to the coordinator for assessment; volcanology.unina.it news: "Please also send your documents to [master.volcanology@unina.it] to speed up the pre-enrolment procedure." What the Committee assesses is the curriculum vitae plus the academic record, since the decisive checks are the degree, the 60/24 CFU profile and English B2. Expect, at minimum: degree certificate, full transcript of records with credits and disciplinary sectors, course/syllabus descriptions, CV, and the English certificate (or evidence of one of the three exemptions).
1) THE PAGE EXISTS AND IS REACHABLE FROM ITS SUBJECT LISTING — THE BRIEF'S FLAG IS RESOLVED AND WAS ONLY HALF-RIGHT. The brief warned the programme "may not be linked from its own subject-area listing page on orientamento.unina.it — it may only be reachable via a direct URL". Verified: the course sheet at https://www.orientamento.unina.it/corsidistudio/volcanology/ IS listed on its subject-area page, https://www.orientamento.unina.it/futuri-studenti/offerta-didattica/corsi-scienze-mmffnn/ (Scienze Matematiche Fisiche e Naturali), where it appears as "Volcanology" alongside Scienze Geologiche, Geologia e Geologia Applicata and Geoscienze. What IS true is that the top-level offerta didattica page (https://www.orientamento.unina.it/futuri-studenti/offerta-didattica/) contains no course links at all — it is a JavaScript-rendered grid of 14 subject-area tiles — so any crawler or text search that stops there will conclude the programme does not exist. The programme also has a full standalone website, volcanology.unina.it, plus records on corsi.unina.it, distar.unina.it and unina.it. Existence is not in doubt.
2) THE MOST IMPORTANT CORRECTION: THE DEGREE CLASS AND COURSE CODE HAVE CHANGED. The brief's "LM-74" is right as a family but out of date as a code. The active course a 2026/27 applicant enters is DH1, class LM-74 R (the reformed class), "attivo": true, SUA-CdS filed for 2025 and 2026. The old course P67, class LM-74, is flagged "esaurimento": true — closed to new enrolments and running only until existing students graduate — with its last SUA in 2024 and its page headed "Regulations valid for students enrolled up to the 2024/2025 a.y.". This matters because most public pages have not caught up: the orientamento course sheet still shows "Degree class LM-74", still publishes the P67-era study plan, and search engines still surface corsi.unina.it/P67 as the canonical page. Downstream consumers of this record should present the class as "LM-74 (reformed class LM-74 R from a.y. 2025/26)" and link to https://www.corsi.unina.it/DH1, not P67.
3) THE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS TIGHTENED BETWEEN THE TWO VERSIONS — AND THE PUBLIC PAGES SHOW THE OLD, LOOSER VERSION. The legacy Art. 4 text asked for 60 CFU spread across GEO, FIS, MAT, CHIM, ING-INF/05 and INF/01 with no minimum geoscience core. The current SUA-CdS 2026 adds a hard sub-requirement: of those 60 credits, at least 24 must sit in geoscience sectors (GEOS-01 to GEOS-04), geotechnics (CEAR-05/A) or Earth/planetary/space/climate physics (PHYS-05/B). A physics or chemistry graduate reading only the orientamento sheet ("Bachelor's (3 years minimum) in Geology, Physics or Chemistry or equivalent degree") could reasonably believe they qualify and then be refused. Note that volcanology.unina.it/about DOES state the 24-credit core, and states the entry discipline more narrowly ("A Bachelor (min 3 years) in Geology or equivalent degree"). Where the three sources disagree, the SUA-CdS 2026 and the Didactic Regulations govern.
4) "ADMISSION LIBERO" IS THE MOST MISLEADABLE FIELD IN THIS RECORD. It means no numerus clausus, no ranking and no bando — it does NOT mean automatic admission. A compulsory personal-preparation INTERVIEW before a three-professor committee, producing a written nulla-osta, stands between a candidate and enrolment, and essentially every international applicant must sit it (the exemption is defined by Italian degree-class codes and an Italian /110 grade). Any summary that renders this programme as simply "open access, no test" is materially wrong.
5) THE 2026/27 ADMISSION-INTERVIEW SESSION DATES ARE NOT PUBLISHED — THE MAIN GENUINE GAP. The Regulations promise the calendar is "determined annually by the Department and is also published on the website", with at least two sessions. No such calendar was found on orientamento.unina.it (its "Application timeline" heading is empty), volcanology.unina.it, distar.unina.it (including the teaching noticeboard) or corsi.unina.it. This is why application_deadline_eu is marked uncertain: the enrolment window (16 July - 2 November 2026) is confirmed, but the earlier interview date that actually gates enrolment is not. Applicants should email master.volcanology@unina.it well before the enrolment window opens.
6) A DATE ERROR INSIDE THE OFFICIAL NON-EU BROCHURE. Its Deadlines page gives the enrolment-completion deadline as 31 January 2027; its Matriculation page says "required to matriculate by 31 January 2026" for the same 2026/2027 intake. The Deadlines page is internally consistent with the June-2026/November-2026 sequence and should be treated as correct. Flagged because an applicant who reads only the Matriculation page could believe the deadline has already passed.
7) A CONTRADICTION ON WHETHER AN ADMISSION LETTER IS ISSUED. international.unina.it/admission-regulation says flatly "The University of Naples Federico II does not issue admission letters for obtaining a visa", while the 2026/2027 brochure and the programme's own May 2026 news item both say a pre-acceptance letter IS issued by the Programme Coordinator and IS mandatory for the visa. The more recent, programme-specific sources should be followed; the international.unina.it sentence appears to be legacy text drawing a distinction between a formal "admission letter" and a "pre-acceptance letter". Applicants should not be discouraged by it.
8) THE FEE FIGURES ON international.unina.it DO NOT RECONCILE WITH THE UNIVERSITY'S OWN FEE SYSTEM. That page states EUR 200/year tuition for European students and no tuition line at all for non-European students, whereas unina.it describes an ISEE/ISEEU-banded contribution with a no-tax area to EUR 26,000 and a maximum band for students who file no ISEE. These cannot both be general rules. No decree reconciling them was found. tuition_or_fees_link is marked uncertain and the figures must not be presented as this programme's price; the official simulator at http://calcolatrice.unina.it/ is the only reliable instrument.
9) NO SEAT NUMBERS ARE PUBLISHED ANYWHERE ON unina.it. Neither a total cap nor a reserved non-EU quota appears in the DH1 or P67 records, the full SUA-CdS 2026 field set, the orientamento sheet, the department site or the programme site — consistent with open access. Non-official press coverage (Nature Italy, Monocle) describes a cohort of roughly 15 mostly international students, and the SUA-CdS itself refers to "numeri contenuti"; these indicate a small class, not a quota, and are recorded only as context. non_eu_reserved_seats is marked uncertain because a per-programme places figure may be declared on the Universitaly portal, which lies outside the unina.it-only scope of this research.
10) COORDINATOR OF RECORD VS DEGREE PROGRAMME DIRECTOR — NOT A CONTRADICTION, BUT WORTH KNOWING. The course register lists Daniele Morgavi (daniele.morgavi@unina.it) as coordinator for both DH1 and P67, while the orientamento sheet and the SUA-CdS both name Prof. Paola Petrosino as Degree Programme Director / "present coordinator". Both are current DiSTAR staff on this programme; the registry field and the SUA field are maintained separately and are out of step. For admission enquiries the safest address is the programme office, master.volcanology@unina.it, which is the one the programme itself publishes.
11) THE CURRENT REGULATION PDF CARRIES A STALE HEADER. The file "Regolamento LM74 R Volcanology.pdf" (filed under DH1, academic year 2025, published 24 July 2025) still shows "LM-74" in its title block and "Regulations in force since the academic year 2024-25" — carried over from the previous version. Its filename, its filing under DH1 and its 2025 academic-year record identify it as the LM-74 R regulation. The substantive articles quoted in this record (Art. 4, 5, 9, 10) are cross-checked against the independently maintained SUA-CdS 2026 fields REQ_ACC and REQ_ACC_2, which agree.
12) MINOR: THE BUILDING LABEL. "Ed. 10" (department's own postal address and the orientamento sheet) vs "building L" (volcanology.unina.it/about). Same DiSTAR premises at Via Vicinale Cupa Cintia 21, Monte Sant'Angelo. Use the street address, which all sources share.
13) MINOR: A SUPERSEDED DEPARTMENTAL ENROLMENT WINDOW. distar.unina.it "Calendario e scadenze" (last modified 20 July 2024) still says enrolment runs "dal 1 Settembre al 31 ottobre di ogni anno". The University-level 2026/27 announcement (16 July - 2 November 2026) is more recent and higher-authority. Do not cite the departmental page for dates.
14) DATA CURRENCY. All figures, dates and quotations above were retrieved on 30 August 2026 and reflect academic year 2026/2027 where the source specifies a year (SUA-CdS 2026; the 2026/2027 non-EU brochure; the unina.it enrolment announcement dated 08/07/2026; the programme news item of 06/05/2026). The published study plan reproduced under level is the P67-era plan still shown on the orientamento sheet; the DH1/LM-74 R plan is set out in Annex 1 of the current Didactic Regulations and should be checked there before being quoted to an applicant as the 2026/27 curriculum.
