Kampüs

Rovereto (Province of Trento) - Centre for Mind/Brain Sciences (CIMeC), corso Bettini 31, 38068 Rovereto (TN). The programme is NOT taught on the Trento city or Povo campuses; admitted students are explicitly told they 'must be in Rovereto (Province of Trento) for the start of classes'. Students admitted to the optional UniTrento-SISSA joint pathway spend year 1 at CIMeC in Rovereto and year 2 at SISSA in Trieste.

Kabul Tipi

Restricted access / numero programmato (the course fact box lists 'ACCESS: Programmed'). Admission is by public selection based on qualifications and, if appropriate, an interview - there is no TOLC and no SAT. The Centre for Mind and Brain (CIMeC) announces two separate public selections for the same intake: (1) a first call for Non-Europeans (non-EU citizens living outside Italy), 17 December 2025 to 4 March 2026 at 12:00 CET; (2) a second call for Europeans and Equivalents, 9 February to 29 May 2026 at 12:00 CET. Article 3.2(c) of the call also provides that, only if places remain, a third selection reserved to Europeans and Equivalents may be opened starting from mid-August. Total entry is capped at 80 places. Applications are submitted through the UniTrento Apply portal (webapps.unitn.it/Apply), logging in with SPID, an Electronic Identity Card, or a UniTrento/guest account; the 2026/27 application codes are MCS_Eu2026 (Europeans and Equivalents) and MCSNonEu2026 (Non-Europeans).

Resmî Eğitim Dili

Fully English. Article 1.4 of the official 2026/27 admission call states plainly that the official language of the course is English, and the programme fact box on the UniTrento course site lists 'LANGUAGE: English'. There is no Italian-language percorso and no mixed English/Italian track: the entire two-year, 120-ECTS curriculum is delivered in English at CIMeC in Rovereto. No Italian language certificate is required for admission or enrolment; Italian is relevant only for daily life. Teaching is in-person only ('Lessons take place only in person').

AB / AEA adayları

Academic year 2026/2027 for Europeans and Equivalents: applications open 9 February 2026 and close 29 May 2026 at 12:00 CET (second call). Associated deadlines: Bachelor's degree must be obtained by 30 September 2026; enrolment confirmation and enrolment at UniTrento within the deadlines communicated by UniTrento staff; the English B2 certificate must reach the Master's Admission Office by 15 June 2026 at the latest if it could not be uploaded with the application. A possible third selection reserved to Europeans and Equivalents may open 'starting from mid August' 2026, but only in case of remaining places - as of 31 August 2026 the opening, dates and available places of any such third round could not be confirmed from an official source, because the Apply portal requires authentication and corsi.unitn.it is behind a WAF.

AB / AEA dışı adaylar

Academic year 2026/2027 for Non-Europeans (non-EU citizens living outside Italy): applications open 17 December 2025 and close 4 March 2026 at 12:00 CET (first call). Associated deadlines: Bachelor's degree must be obtained by 30 June 2026; pre-enrolment on Universitaly within 2 weeks of place confirmation; visa obtained by 20 September 2026; arrival in Italy before 30 September 2026, after which enrolment, stay-permit support and accommodation support are no longer possible. Non-EU applicants graduating from Italian universities with a valid Italian residence permit for study purposes instead follow the Europeans and Equivalents deadlines (graduation by 30 September 2026).

Kabul koşulları

Akademik geçmiş

Degree requirement: a Bachelor's or first-level degree of at least 3 years awarded in Italy, or another qualification recognised as equivalent awarded abroad; a higher degree is also accepted. Final-year undergraduates may apply provided they graduate before 30 June 2026 (Non-Europeans) or before 30 September 2026 (Europeans and Equivalents, and non-Europeans graduating from Italian universities with a valid Italian study residence permit). No specific ECTS thresholds per scientific-disciplinary sector (SSD) and no minimum GPA/final-mark threshold are imposed; instead, applicants must show 'a personal background with suitable professional, vocational and academic experience appropriate to the interdisciplinary nature of the degree course' across the disciplines that characterise the cognitive sciences area: philosophy and linguistics; psychology; psychobiology and cognitive neuroscience; mathematics, computer science and engineering. PLACES AND QUOTAS: entry is restricted to 80 places in total, of which 35 places are reserved to non-EU citizens resident abroad and 45 places are available to Europeans and Equivalents. Unassigned non-EU places revert to European candidates and to non-European candidates permanently resident in Italy. Within each of the two quotas there is a priority reserve of 6 places for each of the three tracks - Cognitive Neuroscience (CN), Computational and Theoretical Modelling of Language and Cognition (CLC), and Fundamental Behavioural Neuroscience (FBN) - i.e. 18 reserved places per category. Place assignment works in two stages: first the 18 track-reserved places are filled by admitting the top 6 candidates per track by track-specific score regardless of general ranking position, then the remaining places are assigned by scrolling the general ranking by score; unfilled track-reserve places are added back to the general pool. If an admitted track-reserve candidate withdraws, the next candidate from the same track is admitted to keep the 6 reserved places filled. Candidates may not change track after admission under any circumstances. Eligibility threshold: 50/100. Transfers and course changes from another Italian university are possible only on positive evaluation by the selection committee, with admission to year 2 conditional on recognition of at least 42 credits from the mandatory and/or elective courses of the programme; credit-transfer requests go to mcs@unitn.it by 30 September 2026 and are answered within 30 days.

Dil yeterliliği
  • English at CEFR level B2 or higher is mandatory for every applicant, EU and non-EU alike; this is the only language requirement, and no knowledge of Italian is required for admission or enrolment. Proficiency may be attested in any one of five ways: (1) a certificate of English issued by an internationally recognised assessment institution, consistent with the type, duration and validity guidelines published by the Language Centre of the University of Trento (CLA) in its list of certificates accepted for admission to study programmes
  • (2) a transcript of records attesting completion of a university exam of English language knowledge at B2 level, with the B2 level clearly stated
  • (3) a certificate issued by the University Language Centre confirming completion of an English B2 exam that included both a written and an oral test
Sınav / değerlendirme

No entrance examination in the usual sense: there is no TOLC, no SAT, no GRE and no written admission test. Selection is a documentary evaluation carried out by an Admissions Committee appointed by the Rector and made up of at least three members of the CIMeC teaching staff (the committee may meet by video conference and may work in sub-committees). Candidates are scored out of 100 points across three headings: academic background and reference letter (max 50 points, considering transcripts, other curricular activities, publications, professional experience, internships and voluntary work, knowledge of foreign languages and the reference letter); relevance of previous studies and experience to the course objectives (max 20 points); and the statement of purpose (max 30 points, judged on clarity, strength of motivation, relevance to the course, ability shown in English, and originality). An interview - in person or online - is only a contingent step: applicants 'might be invited to an interview ... only if the Selection Committee requires to collect further information on applicants' academic skills and personal competencies'. A score of 50/100 or more is required to be considered eligible; ties are resolved in favour of the youngest candidate. Two separate ranking lists are published (one for Non-Europeans, one for Europeans and Equivalents) on the Cognitive Science course webpage.

Hazırlanacak belgeler

    • Uploaded through the online application on the UniTrento Apply portal (webapps.unitn.it/Apply). An official translation is required for any document not produced in English or Italian; illegible documents are disregarded and incomplete applications are excluded. (a) copy of a valid passport, personal-information pages with photo only, or an identity card - Italian citizens need not upload it
    • (b) copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate, or a certificate (or, for Italian students and students enrolled at an Italian university, a self-declaration under DPR 445/2000) attesting the expected graduation date
    • (c) transcript of records listing all courses, exams and marks awarded, including the list of exams for the qualification to be awarded, the weighted average mark and the minimum-to-maximum range of marks

  • 1) ACCESS LIMITATION: corsi.unitn.it, www.unitn.it and offertaformativa.unitn.it are behind a WAF that returns HTTP 405 to direct fetches (offertaformativa.unitn.it 302-redirects into corsi.unitn.it and then 405/503). No bot-protection challenge was bypassed. All corsi.unitn.it content above was therefore read from Internet Archive snapshots captured on 16 March 2026 (the two admission pages) and 12 June 2026 (the programme page), plus the official 2026/27 call PDF retrieved through the Archive (snapshot 16 March 2026). Because these are archived copies, any amendment published on the live site after those dates - in particular between June and today, 31 August 2026 - would not be reflected here. 2) THIRD SELECTION ROUND: Article 3.2(c) of the call allows a third selection reserved to Europeans and Equivalents 'starting from mid August' if places remain after the first two rounds. Today's date falls inside that window, but neither the existence nor the dates nor the number of places of a 2026/27 third round could be verified: the Apply portal entries MCS_Eu2026 and MCSNonEu2026 on webapps.unitn.it both resolve (HTTP 200) but require SPID/CIE/UniTrento authentication before showing an open or closed status, and the generic Apply landing page returned 'No active applications for this type'. The EU deadline field is marked uncertain for this reason; the 29 May 2026 date is firm for the ordinary second call. 3) RANKING LIST NOT READ: a non-EU ranking list PDF for 2026/27 exists at corsi.unitn.it/sites/cds/files/2026-04/ranking-list-non-eu-master-cognitive-science-2026-27.pdf, but it was not retrieved, so the actual number of scholarships awarded and the effective score cut-offs for 2026/27 are not reported. Article 7.1 only states that the number of scholarships is announced together with the ranking list. 4) BINDING VERSION: the 13-page English document used as the primary source is explicitly labelled '(English translation) The only binding version is the Italian one'. The Italian bando (bando-ammissione-lm-cognitive-science-26-27.pdf) was not read in full; its title confirming class LM-55 comes from an indexed search result. Any discrepancy between the two versions resolves in favour of the Italian text. 5) NO MIXED-LANGUAGE AMBIGUITY: unlike some UniTrento degrees, this LM-55 has no Italian-taught percorso and no 'English and Italian' variant - Art. 1.4 of the call and the course fact box agree that the course language is English only. 6) DEPARTMENT SUBDOMAIN: CIMeC's own site (www.cimec.unitn.it) is an official UniTrento centre subdomain but was not among the department subdomains enumerated in the research scope; it was used only for the department identity and the SISSA pathway description, never as the source of an admission fact. A direct fetch of a CIMeC MSc page returned HTTP 404, so no admission data was taken from it. 7) JOINT-PROGRAMME CONFUSION RISK: the UniTrento-SISSA Graduate Program in Cognitive Science is NOT a separate admission route into this Master's. It is an internal opt-in open only to students already enrolled in year 1 of this LM-55, selected at the end of the winter semester (up to 4 students per year), who then spend year 2 at SISSA in Trieste. Applicants cannot apply to it from outside, and the call PDF indexed for it (sissa-unitrento-graduate-program-cognitive-science-call-25-26_0.pdf) is a 2025/26 internal call, not an entry route for 2026/27. 8) TUITION LINK: the call hyperlinks a generic 'Tuition fees' page whose target URL was not extractable from the archived PDF text layer. The unitn.it fee URLs given above were identified separately and their described mechanism (first-year fee by admission score, second-year fee by credits earned by 10 August, 42+ CFU giving exemption) matches Articles 6-8 of the call verbatim, so the mapping is considered reliable; the programme-specific fee brackets are in any case quoted directly from the call itself. 9) NO ENTRANCE TEST: readers should not expect a TOLC, SAT or written exam here - the 'numero programmato' character of this course comes from the capped 80 places and the scored dossier evaluation, not from a national or university test. The interview is discretionary and may never be convened for a given applicant.

Programme-specific figures are set in Articles 6-8 of the admission call: maximum tuition for Non-Europeans is EUR 6,000 per academic year, reduced for the first year by admission score - full tuition waiver for 90-100/100, EUR 1,000 for 70-89.9/100, EUR 2,000 for 60-69.9/100, EUR 4,500 for 50-59.9/100. Second-year fees depend on credits earned by 10 August (i.e. within the June-July exam session): exemption at 42 or more CFU, EUR 1,000 for 36-41, EUR 2,000 for 24-35, EUR 4,500 for 6-23, EUR 6,000 below 6 CFU. UniTrento scholarships are granted to top-scoring Non-Europeans with an admission score of at least 70/100, assigned strictly in ranking order regardless of track reserves and independently of the fee-waiver bracket; scholarship holders are also waived from tuition fees, and the scholarship is a partial contribution to mobility costs paid only after arrival in Italy. Non-European admitted students are entitled to guaranteed on-campus accommodation (rent payable). Europeans and Equivalents pay fees reduced according to family economic situation (ISEE) and apply separately each year to the dedicated provincial/university scholarship call.
