Applicants must hold, or obtain by 31 December 2026, a bachelor's degree or equivalent foreign qualification recognized as suitable by the University. The programme is open to graduates in L-2 Biotechnology, L-13 Biological Sciences, L-27 Chemistry, or L-29 Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies, as well as applicants with other degrees who have at least 40 ECTS in the listed BIO, CHIM, MED, and SECS-S scientific sectors. The manifesto states 180 credits are required for admission. For applicants with foreign qualifications, the academic record must make the relevant hours/credits clearly identifiable; otherwise the faculty evaluates additional career documents.

A.Y. 2026/27. English at B2 level is required for admission; proof by a UniMi-accepted certificate (at the required level or higher, earned no more than 3 years before submission - 2 years for TOEFL - certifying Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking); applicants without a valid certificate may still be accepted if the faculty members judge their English, assessed at the admission interview (held in English), sufficient for all programme activities. Non-EU visa applicants: under the ministerial guidelines announced by UniMi on 29 June 2026, a B2 level in the language of instruction (English) is needed to obtain the study visa. Italian is not required for admission, but students without an Italian high-school diploma or degree must prove Italian at A2 or higher before completing the programme (certificate no more than 3 years old, or the one-time SLAM entry-level test and, if below A2, 60-hour SLAM Italian courses) to earn the 3 credits of 'Additional language skills: Italian'.

A.Y. 2026/27: no written entrance test; evaluation of the academic curriculum plus an individual interview in English by the evaluation committee. Score out of 100: up to 25 for the degree grade (or weighted exam average for graduands), up to 10 for the curriculum of studies, up to 65 for the interview; minimum 60/100 (a negative result bars admission for the year). Non-EU visa applicants: online interview on 20 May 2026 at 9:30 a.m.; only 5 places for non-EU applicants residing abroad who need a visa, awarded to the top five of the final ranking. Italian and EU applicants: interview on 9 September 2026 at 9:30 a.m., in person in Milan or online for candidates unable to reach Milan. Results are sent by email to the address used for the application.

If the applicant chooses to prove English by certificate rather than interview-based assessment: an English certificate accepted by the University of Milan.
