AB / AEA adayları
EU and equivalent applicants: admission application from 22 January 2026 to 30 October 2026. Enrolment for admitted students: from 5 May 2026 to 15 January 2027. Candidates still completing the bachelor's degree may satisfy the degree and entry requirements by 31 December 2026.
Non-EU applicants requiring a visa: admission application from 22 January 2026 to 30 April 2026. Universitaly pre-enrolment application by 31 July 2026. Enrolment for admitted students: from 5 May 2026 to 15 January 2027. Foreign-qualification enrolment documents must be completed by 30 November 2026.
Applicants must hold, or obtain by 31 December 2026, a bachelor's degree that meets the programme's curricular requirements. For Italian degrees, direct access is provided to graduates in class L-2 (Biotecnologia) and former class 1 (Biotecnologia). Other Italian bachelor's graduates are eligible if they have a strong biotechnology background with at least 35 CFU in basic disciplines (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology) across the listed SSDs and at least 25 CFU in L-2 core disciplines across the listed SSDs. Applicants with a non-Italian degree must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and show prior study in mathematics, physics, general chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, plant biology or plant physiology, and biotechnology-area disciplines. Admission is not automatic: the Admission Committee evaluates curricular prerequisites, ECTS/CFU and grades, the overall personal preparation, and the final degree grade. If necessary, the Committee may require a mandatory interview, which may be held remotely.
A.Y. 2026/27: English at CEFR B2 or higher is required for admission. The level is ascertained by the University Language Centre (SLAM) in one of three ways: (1) a University-recognised English certificate at B2 or higher issued no more than 3 years before the application date (2 years for TOEFL; it must certify reading, writing, listening and speaking), uploaded with the online admission application
(2) an English level certified by SLAM during a University of Milan degree no more than 4 years before the application date (checked automatically, nothing to upload)
(3) the SLAM English entry test, according to the published calendar (one attempt only). Applicants who do not take or do not pass the entry test must submit a recognised certificate to SLAM via InformaStudenti by 31 December 2026; applicants who miss this deadline are not admitted. Non-EU visa applicants: under the ministerial guidelines (UniMi notice of 29 June 2026) they must prove B2 in the language of instruction - for this English-taught programme, a B2 English certificate accepted by UniMi or a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate, uploaded with the Universitaly pre-enrolment; native English speakers are exempt. No Italian-language requirement for admission (an optional 3-ECTS Italian course is offered to international students).
There is no fixed programme-specific written entrance exam listed for all candidates. Admission is based on documentary assessment of curricular requirements and personal preparation by the Admission Board or Admission Committee. If necessary, the Board may require an interview and or a written test, in person or remotely. Separately, applicants who do not present a valid English certificate or valid prior SLAM certification must take the SLAM English entry test according to the official calendar.
If applying with an Italian qualification: self-certification of degree or enrolment with exam records; for graduates or graduating students from other Italian universities, this must include exams taken, grades, ECTS credits, and disciplinary scientific sectors.
If still graduating from an Italian university: details of exams already passed but not yet registered, exams not yet taken, and expected graduation date, entered in the application.
If applying with a foreign qualification: bachelor's degree (B.Sc. or equivalent) or degree-awarding certificate, in Italian, English, French, German, or Spanish.
If applying with a foreign qualification: diploma supplement or, alternatively, transcript of records including courses, marks, ECTS, academic field, and the grading system used.
If applying with a foreign qualification: passport or other valid ID.
If using the certificate route for English: a recognized English certificate at B2 level or higher, issued no more than 3 years before the application date, uploaded during the online application.
