- Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent Italian or foreign qualification, or graduate by 31 December 2026. Automatic curricular access applies to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy (L-5 or equivalent) or Political Science and International Relations (L-36 or equivalent). Applicants from other degree classes are eligible only if they have at least 42 ECTS (or equivalent) in the following disciplinary fields: M-FIL/02, M-FIL/03, M-FIL/04, M-FIL/05, M-FIL/06, SPS/01, SPS/02, SPS/04, SPS/07, SPS/08, SPS/09, SPS/10, SPS/11, IUS/07, IUS/08, IUS/09, IUS/10, IUS/13, IUS/14, IUS/20, IUS/21, M-DEA/01, M-STO/04, SECS-P/01, including at least 12 ECTS in M-FIL/03, SPS/01, SPS/02, SPS/04, and IUS/20. Foreign qualifications are admissible if recognized as suitable by the University. The admission board checks curricular requirements and the applicant's initial preparation.

- English proficiency at CEFR B2 or higher is required for admission. UNIMI/SLAM verifies this in one of three official ways: a recognized B2-or-higher certificate earned within 3 years at submission time (2 years for TOEFL) and uploaded with the admission application; a SLAM-certified English level obtained during a University of Milan degree within the previous 4 years, which is checked automatically; or the SLAM English entry test. Applicants who do not upload a valid certificate or whose previous SLAM level is expired/non-valid must take the SLAM entry test. If they fail the test or miss it without an accepted excuse, they must submit a recognized certificate via InformaStudenti ('language test' category; subject 'Certificazione ammissione laurea magistrale') by 31 December 2026 for PPPA, otherwise they will not be admitted.
- Sınav / Test
- The programme is open-admission but subject to an entry requirements examination by the Admission Board. On the PPPA application page, candidates are told they will be invited to an admission interview; interviews begin in March and run until September in the order completed applications are received, and no specific preparation is required because the interview focuses on academic background and argumentative skills. The admission notice also states that the Board may require an interview and/or a written test, either in person or remotely. Separately, applicants without valid B2 English proof must take the SLAM English entry test under UNIMI's language rules.

- For enrolment with a foreign qualification: Statement of Comparability from an ENIC-NARIC centre such as CIMEA, or Dichiarazione di Valore in loco (DOV); for eligible Lisbon Convention cases, the Diploma Supplement or ARDI Correspondence Statement may replace the DOV and Statement of Comparability as specified by UNIMI.
- For enrolment with a foreign qualification: Italian tax code (codice fiscale).
- For non-EU citizens at enrolment with a foreign qualification: receipt of the residence permit application or a valid residence permit.
- For non-EU students residing abroad in addition to the above: receipt of the Universitaly pre-application, study visa, and request for a residence permit.
- For all admission applicants: payment of the EUR 30.00 admission fee by the admission deadline.
