Kabul Tipi

Open access (accesso libero / 'Course without restricted number of places') BUT with a COMPULSORY TWO-STEP QUALIFYING SELECTION that must be passed before enrolment: (1) a written multiple-choice admission test, and (2) an interview. The programme's Key Information box states 'Entry requirements: Course without restricted number of places', yet its Admission Requirements page states: 'In order to be admitted to the Master in Cellular and Molecular Biology, applicants must pass a test that consists of two steps, a written test and an interview.' There is therefore NO numerus clausus ranking, but there IS a pass/fail gate - the Master Admission Committee issues an 'admission'/'non-admission' judgement based on the curriculum evaluation plus the test result. No TOLC, SAT, GRE or GMAT is used. Two application routes exist: (a) applicants holding a FOREIGN degree (any citizenship) apply through the Apply@UniTo portal (apply.unito.it, course 345); (b) applicants holding an ITALIAN qualification apply through the UNITO portal / MyUniTo using 'Iscrizioni > Pre-iscrizione ai corsi ad accesso libero' and submit an online application for curricular check. A single territorial cap applies: apply.unito.it, 'Territory requirements: This degree program has 50 available places for non-European applicants residing abroad.'

Dil yeterliliği
  • ENGLISH ONLY - no Italian language requirement is published (the degree is fully English-taught).
  • REQUIRED LEVEL: CEFR B1 - notably LOWER than the B2 required by most UNITO English-taught master's programmes.
  • NO CERTIFICATE REQUIRED. This is the programme's most distinctive admission feature and it is stated explicitly on the microsite's syllabus section: 'English Language - Your knowledge of the English language, comparable to a B1 level (no need of certification), will be verified during the admission interview.' apply.unito.it states the same for its (foreign-degree) applicant pool under 'Language requirements: English - Your knowledge of the English language (at least B1 level) will be verified during the admission interview', and lists 'English Language: Common European Framework (CEF) B1 level' among the subject areas assessed. There is therefore NO published list of accepted certificates and no minimum IELTS/TOEFL/Cambridge score for this programme; the assessment is made orally by the admission committee, which must be satisfied that the applicant can 'Demonstrate adequate level of English proficiency' during the interview discussion of the written test.

Step 2 - interview with at least two teachers, discussing the written test and checking English (at least B1). A sample test is published on the programme site. The programme pages mention no exemption from the test. 2026/27 dates: international (Apply@UniTo) candidates online via webex/zoom - 27 January 2026, 3:00 p.m. (Period I) and 26 February 2026, 9:30 a.m. (Period II), Italian time; Italian-qualification candidates in person, classroom Spallanzani, Via Carlo Alberto 10, Turin - 10 September 2026, 2:00 p.m. and 21 September 2026, 9:30 a.m.

  • Dil yeterliliği
  • All dates and requirements shown are for A.Y. 2026/27; admission information for A.Y. 2027/28 had not been published on 28 September 2026.
  • The programme's How to apply page prints the online test dates for international candidates without a year (27 January and 26 February); they fall within the 2026 evaluation periods. No test date is listed for the third evaluation period (1-29 April 2026).
  • The same page writes the time of the 10 September 2026 test as '14.00 AM'; it is read as 2:00 p.m.
  • The 60-credit rule applies to holders of an Italian Bachelor's degree outside classes L-13 and L-2; no credit threshold is published for foreign degrees, which the Master Admission Committee assesses.
  • No English certificate is required and English (at least B1) is checked at the admission interview; no official page says whether applicants whose previous degree was not taught in English are expected to show any further evidence.
  • Open access means there is no overall cap on student numbers; admission still requires passing both the written test (at least 50% of the maximum score) and the interview, and 50 places are available for non-European applicants residing abroad.
  • The degree is taught fully in English; several University of Turin departments contribute to it, but it is not a joint degree with another university.
  • The Apply@UniTo window of 25 August - 8 September 2026 is called the fourth admission call in the Apply@UniTo calendar and the second application call for free-access postgraduate programmes on the UniTo international application page; the dates are the same.
