A good ranking position does not guarantee enrolment: the International Students Office must first assess the foreign qualification, and enrolment requires the study visa and the residence-permit application receipt.

(2) Foreign qualifications: obtained after at least 12 years of global schooling, giving access to a university programme of the same level in the issuing country, with at least the last two years attended in that education system; 10 or 11 years must be supplemented by one or two years of university studies with all first-year (or first two years') exams passed, a related post-secondary qualification, or a Foundation Programme; where the country has a mandatory national university-entrance examination, the same exam is required. The qualification is evaluated through Apply@UniTo, and a good ranking position alone does not guarantee enrolment. (3) Selection: ranking by SAT score, highest first (ties: higher SAT Math score, then the younger candidate); in the 1st intake round an SAT Math score of at least 400 is required to be ranked; in the 2nd round there is no minimum score, but an SAT Math score below 400 leads to an additional learning requirement (OFA) in mathematics. No GPA threshold, interview or motivation letter (Apply@UniTo asks for a motivation letter only for postgraduate programmes). (4) Places 2026/27: 250 in total - 195 for Italian, EU and equivalent candidates and non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy (category 990), 50 for non-EU citizens residing abroad (category 989) and 5 for Chinese 'Marco Polo' students; places not taken by category 989 may be given to the category 990 ranking.
