Kabul Tipi

Open access with verification of minimum requirements ('accesso libero con verifica di requisiti minimi'). There is no numerus clausus and no ranked competition, but admission is NOT automatic: candidates must (a) satisfy quantified curricular credit thresholds, (b) for international applicants hold a valid C1 English certificate, and (c) pass an admission interview before an admissions committee. No TOLC and no SAT are used at master's level (TOLC-SU applies only to the department's bachelor's programmes). Two entirely separate application channels exist and applicants must use the correct one: (1) applicants holding a BA issued by an ITALIAN university apply through the UNITO portal (www.unito.it / MyUniTo) with a 'Domanda di ammissione preliminare', then take a CLA language-level test and an admission interview booked via a Google Form; (2) applicants holding a BA issued by a NON-ITALIAN institution, and all international students, must apply through the Apply@UniTo portal (apply.unito.it, course id 671). The department warns: 'If you are an international applicant, DO NOT USE the application procedure described on this page: your application will be disregarded.' A territory quota applies on the international channel: a maximum of 30 non-European applicants residing abroad will be admitted.

Kabul koşulları

Akademik geçmiş
  • 1) QUALIFICATION - candidates must have completed, PRIOR TO ADMISSION, at least a three-year university degree ('laurea o diploma universitario'), i.e. a first-cycle/bachelor's degree earned after at least 3 years of university education. If issued abroad, the degree must come from an academically recognised institution under the rules in force for admission to Italian universities. Candidates who have not yet graduated may submit the preliminary application and sit the interview, but can only complete enrolment after obtaining the first-level qualification and in any case no later than the enrolment deadline set by the Academic Senate.
  • 2) CURRICULAR CREDIT REQUIREMENTS - two different formulations apply depending on where the degree was earned.
  • (a) Degree obtained IN THE EUROPEAN UNION (including Italy): at least 18 credits in English language/linguistics AND at least 18 credits in British, English postcolonial or North American literatures. On the department's Italian-language 'requisiti minimi' page the same rule is expressed by SSD code: at least 18 CFU of Lingua Inglese (L-LIN/12) and at least 18 CFU of Letteratura inglese (L-LIN/10) and/or Letteratura anglo-americana (L-LIN/11). Holders of an Italian L-11 bachelor's degree in Lingue e Letterature Moderne with full recognition of credits satisfy the requirement automatically.

Dil yeterliliği
  • ENGLISH - the requirement differs sharply by channel, and this is the single most important distinction for this programme.
  • (a) INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS (foreign qualification, Apply@UniTo): a valid international certification attesting AT LEAST CEFR C1 is MANDATORY, and the certificate must be NO MORE THAN THREE YEARS OLD. UNITO states 'NO OTHER CERTIFICATIONS are accepted' beyond the following closed list: Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
Sınav / değerlendirme

No standardised entrance examination: no TOLC, no GRE, no GMAT, no SAT, and no written admission test at master's level. The selection instruments are an ADMISSION INTERVIEW plus, for applicants with an Italian degree only, a computer-based LANGUAGE LEVEL TEST. (1) ADMISSION INTERVIEW - compulsory for all candidates. 'An admissions committee will evaluate applications, based on curriculum and an interview.' The department describes the interview as having a knowledge/orientation function, focused on the overall assessment of the candidate's profile on the basis of previous academic career and motivation for choosing the master's programme, and states that enrolment is subordinate to passing an interview verifying the adequacy of the candidate's personal preparation. For EAS, applicants with an Italian degree book their interview themselves via an online Google Form at least 48 hours before the published dates (all other LM programmes of the department are convoked directly by the programme president). Interviews for the Italian channel are held IN PERSON, and candidates receive a confirmation e-mail the day before with time and venue. Dates and times cannot be changed. (2) CLA LANGUAGE LEVEL TEST - a 40-minute, 30-question multiple-choice computer test on vocabulary, grammar and comprehension, developed with the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, taken in person, once only per language, with results banded 81-100% / 61-80% / 40-60% / <40% (below 40% signals difficulty in continuing to master's level). The result is an element of evaluation available to the committee, not a pass/fail gate. Expected level for English is C1. IMPORTANT EXEMPTION: 'non svolgono il test le studentesse e gli studenti con titolo estero' - candidates holding a foreign qualification do NOT sit the CLA test; instead they must submit an accepted international C1 certificate through Apply@UniTo. Candidates transferring from another master's programme or another university are also exempt. Test venues and support: testmagistrali.lingue@unito.it. (3) The interview format for the international (Apply@UniTo) channel is not separately specified on the EAS pages; the international selection is described as committee evaluation of the application file plus an interview. Contact for EAS admission matters: ammissioni.eas@unito.it.

The motivation letter must be in English.'); the first-cycle degree certificate / diploma obtained after at least 3 years of university study; the documents required for the applicant's specific foreign education system; optionally the degree programme syllabus (course description) issued by the foreign institution with a translation. • All dates shown are for A.Y. 2026/27; the 2027/28 dates had not been published by 28 September 2026.
  • The January 2027 interview date is published as 12 or 13 January 2027 (date to be confirmed). The 8 July 2026 interview was online only; the other interviews are in person unless stated otherwise.
  • UniTo's pages name the 25 August - 8 September 2026 Apply@UniTo window differently (fourth admission call on Apply@UniTo, second application call on en.unito.it); the dates are the same.
  • The interview format for applicants with a foreign qualification (online or in person) is not specified; Apply@UniTo only says that the committee evaluates applications on the basis of the curriculum and an interview.
  • No exemption from the C1 certificate is published for native speakers or for graduates of English-taught bachelor's degrees who apply with a foreign qualification.
  • The University catalogue's 2026/27 regulation text asks for English at least equivalent to B2 and says the interview checks C1, while the admission pages require a C1 certificate from applicants with a foreign qualification and expect C1 in the language test for applicants with an Italian degree.
  • The credit requirements are worded differently on the official pages: the programme page asks for 18 + 18 credits for degrees from the EU (including Italy) and 10% + 10% of the total credits for degrees from outside the EU, while Apply@UniTo asks all applicants with a foreign qualification for 18 ECTS or 10% of the total credits in each area.
  • The programme page's official-denomination box still shows 'Anno accademico: 2025/2026' and 'Lingua: italiano', while the same page and the University catalogue say the programme is taught entirely in English.
  • The department's Italian-taught Master's degree 'Lingue e letterature moderne' shares the class LM-37 but is a separate programme with its own requirements, interview dates and contacts.
