  • Secondary school diploma (EQF level 4) awarded after at least 12 years of schooling. After fewer than 12 years: 11 years + all first-year university exams passed, or 10 years + all first- and second-year university exams passed, or 10/11 years + a related post-secondary non-university qualification, or 10/11 years + an accepted Foundation Course. US High School Diploma with 3 APs (grades 3-5) in related subjects (or a full year of university), UK GCE/IGCE with 3 A-levels, Scottish certificate with 3 Advanced Highers (or 2 Advanced Highers + 4 Highers), or IB Diploma with at least 24 points (12 at Higher Level) and passed TOK, CAS and EE.
  • National entrance exam: applicants from countries where a national university entrance exam is compulsory must upload a certificate of passing it (e.g. YKS for Turkey).

Accepted English B2 certificates (PoliTo table adopted 23/09/2019, updated 22/12/2022; PDF revised January 2026): IELTS Academic or General Training 5.5; Pearson PTE Academic 59; TOEFL iBT 72 if obtained before 21/01/2026 or total 4 if obtained after 21/01/2026; TOEIC Listening 400, Reading 385, Speaking 160, Writing 150; Cambridge English score 160 (B1 Preliminary, B2 First, B2 Business Vantage, C1 Advanced, C1 Business Higher, C2 Proficiency), with older-scale equivalents; paper, computer or online versions accepted. For TOEFL/TOEIC indicate code C285; for Cambridge share the results with Politecnico and give the Candidate ID. English exemptions (only these cases; an official medium-of-instruction statement from the school/university is then uploaded instead of a certificate): IB Diploma only if the entire path was taught in English (except foreign languages); European Schools diploma with English as first language (L1); qualifications from the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand, wherever the school/university is located; English-medium qualifications from the countries listed in the call (e.g. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Malta, Cyprus, Singapore). A national diploma (not an IB Diploma and not a US, UK, Canadian, Irish, Australian or New Zealand qualification) from an English-medium school in a country that is not on the list, such as a Turkish Lise diploma, does not give an exemption. Refugees in Italy need no certificate for admission but must have it before graduation. Italian-option exemptions: Italian citizens residing in Italy, San Marino diplomas, at least one school year taught in Italian, an Italian qualification, Annex 2 qualifications, or an Italian course certificate with final exam. Timing: enter the certificate in the LANGUAGE SKILLS section of Apply@polito by Friday 22 May 2026 (non-EU applicants residing abroad and requiring a visa) or Monday 20 July 2026 (EU and Equivalent applicants with a non-Italian qualification); 30 September 2026 for applicants with an Italian qualification; missing the deadline means exclusion from enrolment.

  • The English version of the call for applications is a courtesy translation; the Italian version is the only legally binding text.
  • The 85 places for non-EU applicants requiring a visa cover the whole programme; the call does not split them between the entirely Italian and the entirely English option.
  • Registration for TIL-I sessions 1-4 opened on 22 January 2026 according to the admission-test page, while the session table of the call gives 27 January 2026.
