Possession of a secondary-school diploma (or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent by competent university bodies) is required. Foreign-qualification pre-evaluation follows the guidelines of Rectoral Decree Prot. n. 25758 of 28 February 2024. General UNIME bachelor's rules also require: an official provisional Course Completion Certificate if the diploma is not yet issued; if the diploma reflects less than 12 years of schooling, either a certificate of passed first-year university exams or a Foundation Programme certificate; a University Entrance Exam Certificate if required by the candidate's home country; and a transcript of records.

English is required either as a native language or via adequate certification/attestation at CEFR B2 level, issued by public bodies/private structures accredited per MUR guidelines. No separate Italian-language requirement is stated for enrolment (the course is delivered in English), though UNIME offers optional Italian courses for international students more broadly.

A mandatory national CISIA TOLC-F test (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Logic sections: F-1 through F-5) is administered to verify basic knowledge expected at the end of secondary school. The test is diagnostic, not exclusionary: enrolment is not conditional on passing it. Students must answer at least 15 of 50 questions correctly overall, with per-section minimums (3 Biology, 3 Chemistry, 4 Mathematics, 3 Physics, 2 Logic). Failing the threshold results in Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi (additional learning obligations, OFA) to be cleared during year 1 via CISIA recovery tests or by passing the corresponding first-year exam; unresolved OFA by year-end means repeating the first year.
