AY 2026/2027 EU round (now CLOSED — the cycle ran between December 2025 and July 2026, and this research was carried out on 6 September 2026): online registration on the UniSR Admission Portal opened 17 December 2025 at 12:00 noon and closed 6 February 2026 at 12:00 noon (Milan/Italian time). Registration is complete only once the session(s) are booked AND the EUR 200 fee is paid, within 15 minutes of booking. Test sessions 14 February 2026 and 14 March 2026; final ranking published within 15 days of the last session; declaration of intention to enrol from 9 June 2026 12:00 to 22 June 2026 15:00; 'Definitive Ranking List' published by 30 June 2026; online enrolment for candidates ranked 1-86 from 1 July 2026 12:00 to 20 July 2026 12:00 (Italian time), with subsequent scrolling notices published from 16:00 of the third working day after each previous scrolling deadline. The equivalent AY 2027/2028 EU call had not been published as of 6 September 2026; based on the 2026/2027 and 2025/2026 patterns it is expected around mid-December 2026.
AY 2026/2027 non-EU round (reserved for non-European citizens residing abroad; now CLOSED as of this research date, 6 September 2026): online registration opened 17 December 2025 at 12:00 noon and closed 5 February 2026 at 12:00 noon (Italian time) — one day earlier than the EU call. Test sessions 11 February 2026 and 4 March 2026 (home-based). Final ranking within 15 days of the last session. Admitted candidates had to confirm their place with a non-refundable EUR 1,500 advance payment no later than 9 April 2026 (deducted from the first tuition instalment); candidates admitted through scrolling confirmed between 10 April and 30 June 2026. Online enrolment 1 July 2026 12:00 to 20 July 2026 12:00 (Italian time), with scrolling continuing afterwards — as of early September 2026 the non-EU ranking had scrolled to position 89, with enrolment for that candidate open 4-8 September 2026. Enrolment for non-Italian qualification holders remains conditional until originals (diploma, plus CIMEA Statement of Comparability or Declaration of Value where the system is not on the ARDI list, and Codice Fiscale) are handed in in person on arrival in Italy. The call does not name Universitaly pre-enrolment or give a visa cut-off date; it states only that UniSR may request further study-visa and residence-permit documentation. The AY 2027/2028 non-EU call was not yet published as of 6 September 2026.
Selection is run entirely by UniSR (Admissions & Credential Evaluation Office); there is no partner institution. Open to students attending their last year of secondary school in school year 2025/2026 or who already hold a final high school leaving qualification. Candidates must hold a high school leaving qualification (Diploma/Certificate) satisfying Italian law n. 910 art. 1 of 11 December 1969. Holders of non-Italian qualifications must meet the requirements of the MUR Ministerial Circular of 1 April 2025 ('Procedures for entry, residency and enrolment of international students and the respective recognition of qualifications...') and are directed to www.unisr.it/en/servizi/ammissioni/titoli-esteri. The Admissions & Credential Evaluation Office performs a preliminary check of school documents before the test and reserves the right to verify the suitability of both the qualification and the entire school career; final verification of the entrance qualification happens at the enrolment stage, and candidates who at that point do not hold a suitable qualification or school path lose their place and their ranking benefits. Foreign qualifications are validated at enrolment via the CIMEA ARDI platform (no further documentation if the education system is listed) or, if not listed in ARDI, via a CIMEA Statement of Comparability (UniSR's suggested option) or a Declaration of Value issued by the competent Italian diplomatic authority. Citizenship determines which of the two separate calls applies: EU citizens, non-EU citizens residing in Italy, non-EU citizens with EU equal status and citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, San Marino and Vatican City compete in the EU quota; non-EU citizens residing abroad without a second EU citizenship or EU permanent residence permit compete in the non-EU quota. No minimum GPA and no specific subject prerequisites are set; there is no CV/motivation-letter/interview stage — ranking is purely on the admission test score.
An official English language certification at level C1 of the CEFR is required, but only at the enrolment stage, not to sit the admission test: both calls state it 'is required for enrolment' and list 'Copy of the C1 level English language certification' among the documents to upload during online enrolment. Candidates without the certification are not allowed to complete enrolment and lose their assigned place. Recognised certifying bodies are published at www.unisr.it/en/servizi/ammissioni/certificazioni-linguistiche; the accepted list includes Cambridge Assessment English, IELTS, TOEFL iBT (only certificates awarded until December 2025), LanguageCert, Password Skills Plus, British Institutes, Trinity College London, ESaT Malta, Oxford Test of English, English Speaking Board (ESB), Learning Resource Network (LRN), AELS NOCN, Gatehouse Awards, Edexcel Pearson, Pearson LCCI, Pearson EDI, City and Guilds, University of Malta Department of English, NQAI-ACELS, Michigan State University (MSU), Ascentis and AIM Qualifications. Minimum scores for C1 (the level required for the International MD Program) are Cambridge 180, IELTS 7.0 and TOEFL iBT (old version) 95. Exemption: candidates who attended at least the last two years of high school, or completed a minimum of two consecutive years of college in the same education path, entirely in English are exempt from submitting the certificate. No Italian-language requirement or Italian test applies — the calls state that knowledge of Italian will not be tested; UniSR separately runs a Language Center offering Italian courses to students.
UNISR's own admission test — NOT the IMAT and not the national Medicine test. Entirely in English, 60 multiple-choice questions: 36 on logic, problem solving and reading comprehension, and 24 on scientific subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics). Duration 80 minutes. After the 60 scored questions every candidate answers 7 extra reserve questions (proportional extra time, automatically calculated) which do not count towards the score and are used only to substitute a question later found to be anomalous. Delivery: home-based online with the ProctorExam remote proctoring system, run by provider Selexi s.r.l. Technical requirements: Windows 8+/Linux laptop or MAC-OS 10.14+ with webcam and microphone, Google Chrome 81+ only, internet upload/download of at least 1.5 Mbps, plus a second device (Android 4.1+/iOS 8+ smartphone or tablet) running the Proctor Exam app placed behind the candidate; a mandatory 'check requirement' setup test and instructions are sent from convocazioni@ilmiotest.it starting 5 days before the test date. Identification requires a photo of the candidate's face and of an identity card, photo driving licence, passport or firearms licence; two sheets of white paper and a pen are allowed after proctor verification. Scoring: +1 point per correct answer, -0.25 per incorrect answer, 0 for unanswered. The ranking uses only the best score among the sessions taken; ties are broken by sub-scores in logic and problem solving, reading comprehension, biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics in descending order, then by younger age. Each applicant group has two sessions per year and candidates may book one or both. Registration fee: EUR 200, non-refundable, paid via PayPal (no PayPal account needed, a credit/debit card enabled for online payments suffices) within 15 minutes of booking the session, otherwise the booking is cancelled. This fee is separate from tuition and covers both test sessions. Spare sessions exist for candidates disconnected for proven technical reasons not attributable to them: for AY 2026/2027 the non-EU spare sessions were 16 February 2026 and 9 March 2026, and the EU spare sessions 18 February 2026 and 18 March 2026, with disconnection reports to admissions@unisr.it by 23:59 of 12 February / 5 March (non-EU) and 15 February / 15 March (EU). Accommodations (50% extra time for certified disability, 30% for SLD, non-scientific calculator, reading/dictation tutor) can be requested on the UniSR Admission Portal by the registration deadline with a valid medical certificate.
Online registration on the UniSR Admission Portal (unisr-ammissioni.ilmiotest.it) with personal data, selection of the correct call (EU or non-EU), booking of the test session(s) and payment of the EUR 200 test fee
Valid identity document for test identification: identity card, photo driving licence, passport or firearms licence
For candidates with a non-Italian or international school career, at the pre-test document check: report cards, transcripts and/or predicted grades, and the final diploma if already awarded
Where applicable, national entrance exams or certifications (e.g. APs, YKS, ENEM) and any required translations, legalisation/Apostille or Declaration of Value
Medical certificate, if requesting disability/SLD test accommodations (uploaded on the Admission Portal by the registration deadline)
At online enrolment: completed and signed enrolment form
10 belge daha
At online enrolment: copy of the payment receipt of the first tuition instalment (non-EU candidates first pay a EUR 1,500 non-refundable advance to confirm the place, then the remaining balance by wire transfer)
At online enrolment: completed and signed self-certification form ('autocertificazione') from the UniSR website
At online enrolment: copy of the official C1-level English language certification (unless exempt)
At online enrolment: copy of the secondary school leaving certificate showing the final grade, or, if not yet issued, a school certificate stating the last year attended, the path followed and/or predicted grades
EU call only, for non-EU citizens already residing in Italy: copy of the residence permit
EU call only, for students previously enrolled at another Italian university: copy of the transfer or withdrawal request submitted to that university
After enrolment, originals to be handed in in person: official secondary school leaving certificate, with verified Italian translation and legalisation/Apostille by the competent Italian diplomatic authority where required
After enrolment, if the qualification's education system is NOT listed on the CIMEA ARDI platform: CIMEA Statement of Comparability (UniSR's suggested option) OR Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di Valore) issued by the Italian Consulate/Embassy/Italian Cultural Institute, stating the grading system, final score and minimum/maximum awardable score
After enrolment: copy of the official Italian tax code ('Codice Fiscale')
Non-EU candidates: study visa and residence permit documentation — neither 2026/2027 call names Universitaly pre-enrolment explicitly; the non-EU call only states that UniSR 'reserves the right to request further documentation concerning students' study visa and residence permit'
COVERED YEAR AND ROUND STATUS: this record documents academic year 2026/2027, the most recent officially published cycle. As of the research date (6 September 2026) BOTH the EU and the non-EU rounds for 2026/2027 are fully closed: EU registration closed 6 February 2026, non-EU registration closed 5 February 2026, both test sessions for each group took place in February and March 2026, and enrolment ran 1-20 July 2026 with ranking scrolling continuing afterwards (the non-EU ranking had reached position 89 with enrolment open 4-8 September 2026). No AY 2027/2028 call had been published on unisr.it at the time of research; by analogy with the 17 December 2025 opening of the 2026/2027 calls, the 2027/2028 calls are expected around mid-December 2026, but the dates in the AY 2027/2028 entry of admission_rounds are marked [uncertain] and must be re-confirmed on the official page. LEGAL VALUE: both English call PDFs state that only the Italian version (Chancellor's Decree n. 9853 for the EU call) has legal value and the English text is for information only. PLACE COUNTS: 86 EU and 64 non-EU are stated identically on the UNISR admissions page and in both calls (no marketing-versus-call conflict for this programme), but both calls note the numbers remain 'to be confirmed by the resolution of the Italian Ministry of University and Research - MUR'. UNIVERSITALY: neither call mentions Universitaly pre-enrolment or gives a visa application cut-off date; the non-EU call only states UniSR may request further study-visa and residence-permit documentation, so the Universitaly step (normally mandatory for non-EU applicants under MUR rules) could not be confirmed from a UNISR source and is flagged [uncertain] inside required_documents. MINISTERIAL CIRCULAR: both 2026/2027 calls cite the MUR Ministerial Circular of 1 April 2025, which is titled for academic year 2025-2026 — the calls apply it 'and subsequent modifications and additions', so the exact circular governing 2026/2027 foreign-qualification rules may be superseded. TOEFL: the recognised-certificates PDF accepts TOEFL iBT 'only certificates awarded until Dec. 2025' at a C1 threshold of 95 (old version); how the redesigned TOEFL iBT is treated for later certificates is not stated, and the PDF gives no explicit certificate validity period. No minimum overall test score (soglia) is published — admission depends purely on ranking position against the available places. Tuition is billed in EUR (EUR 20,690 for the first year, instalments of 7,190 / 7,000 / 6,500, including a EUR 190 Lombardy regional tax); there is no CHF or partner-institution billing for this programme.
