Applicants need an upper secondary school diploma or equivalent foreign qualification suitable for university access and must qualify through the national ministerial admission procedure for the English-taught Medicine and Surgery programme.

• Required Level: No separate English language certificate is required for applicants sitting IMAT; the current official language-requirement page exempts IMAT candidates from presenting a certificate. The current Medicine-specific pages do not state a separate CEFR level for 2026/27 .
• Accepted Proofs: IMAT participation is accepted as an exemption from presenting a separate English language certificate.
• Under the University's central English-language page, accepted certificates include TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic or General Training, Cambridge ESOL, Pearson, Oxford Test of English, and Trinity College London certificates.
