A.Y. 2026/27 call and regulation. Three-year first-level degree (or foreign degree judged suitable). Curricular requirement met by a degree in class L-30 (Physical Sciences and Technologies) or old class 25; other degrees need at least 18 CFU in mathematics (MAT/01-09, now MATH-(01-06)/A and MATH-(01-03)/B) and at least 24 CFU in physics (FIS/01-08, now PHYS-(01-06)/A and PHYS-(05,06)/B); the committee may accept other SSDs by content. Solid basics in mathematics (differential calculus, geometry), classical physics (theoretical and experimental) and quantum mechanics are required; if the transcript does not show quantum mechanics, the candidate sits a quantum mechanics exam. Degree must be obtained by 31 Dec 2026 (first window) or 26 Feb 2027 (second window) for the Italian-title path. For foreign-title applicants the apply.unimib.it entry says: 'Applicants are expected to hold a BSc degree in Physics or Mathematics and have a solid background in general physics and quantum mechanics'; GRE Physics Subject Test is highly recommended if the previous degree is from outside Europe, North America, China, Japan, South Korea, Israel, Russia, Australia or New Zealand (score 760+ recommended, but outstanding applicants without GRE are also considered). General apply.unimib.it deadline: bachelor's degree obtained by 31 Aug 2026 [uncertain: not confirmed as programme-specific].

English: regulation (art. 4-5) requires a level of English 'tale da utilizzarla fluentemente nel contesto della fisica' [enough to use it fluently in physics] and 'si raccomanda caldamente' [strongly recommends] about B2 for scientific physics because many courses are in English. On the international apply portal (foreign-title applicants): 'English B2 is required for the enrollment'; accepted certificates are those on the University list (http://www.unimib.it/sites/default/files/2024-11/Certificazioni_INGLESE_ott2023_UNIMIB.pdf), valid 5 years; exempt if the previous degree was entirely taught in English or English is the native language (USA, UK, Canada excluding Quebec, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, English-speaking Caribbean countries). Visa seekers: B2 English or Italian certificate by 31 Jul 2026 (general apply.unimib.it rule for courses in English). Italian is not needed for admission, but foreign students must pass a University Italian test at level A2 (3 CFU) during the degree; Italian students must pass English B2 (3 CFU). [uncertain: exact certificate deadline for Physics applicants; the B2 requirement is 'required for enrollment' on the portal but only 'strongly recommended' in the regulation.]

• Interview (colloquio di valutazione), held remotely by video call, checking personal preparation; plus a quantum mechanics exam only if the transcript does not show adequate quantum mechanics. Graduates of class L-30 (physics) with final mark of at least 90/110 are exempt from the interview. Interview dates A.Y. 2026/27 (Italian-title path): 2 Jul 2026
