Secondary school diploma, or a suitable foreign qualification. EU/Italian citizens and non-EU citizens legally resident in Italy (art. 39 c.5 D.Lgs 286/1998): eligible with a recognised upper secondary diploma. Non-EU citizens residing abroad: 'a Diploma from a secondary school with a duration of at least four years or other suitable qualification obtained abroad'; foreign qualifications are generally valid 'if obtained after 12 years of schooling' and if they give access to university in the country of issue. Suitability is assessed by the university via the Apply@unimib portal. The Didactic Regulations also expect logic skills and knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Eligibility threshold: at least 20 points out of 90 in the IMAT for the EU/Italy-resident ranking; for the non-EU abroad quota only a score above 0 is needed. English B2 or higher for non-native English speakers, shown by a certificate from an institution recognised by the University (listed in Annex 3 to D.M. 1005/2026; call examples: IELTS 5.5-6.5 = B2, Cambridge FCE, Trinity ISE II, PTE General Level 3; TOEFL score 87-109 = B2 in the call annex but 72-94 in the university's own certificate table [uncertain: two official tables differ, ask the admissions office before relying on a TOEFL score]). The university's own table (Senate decision 216/2025/SA) also says certificates must not be older than 5 calendar years at the date of delivery. Exempt: native English speakers, and students who completed an entire programme of study taught in English (call: language proficiency is also recognised for students who attended a school taught in English for at least one academic year, Annex 3). Timing: for non-EU visa applicants the B2 certificate is needed 'by the admissions deadline' (9 Sep 2026); for other applicants with foreign qualifications it is uploaded with the documents on Apply@unimib; on Universitaly the certificate is declared at registration and used as a tie-break. IMAT (national test set by MUR, identical in all centres), A.Y. 2026/27 session on 29 September 2026 at Milano-Bicocca (Piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo, Milano); candidates summoned at 11:00, test starts 13:30, 100 minutes, 60 multiple-choice questions (reading skills 4, logical reasoning 5, biology 23, chemistry 15, physics and mathematics 13). Scoring out of 90: +1.5 per right answer, -0.4 per wrong answer, 0 for blank. Tie-breaks: section scores, then a language certificate, then age. Candidates may also sit the test at listed international centres (incl. Turkey) if they register through Universitaly. Results published 8 Oct 2026; national ranking with names on 26 Oct 2026.

• For everyone: IMAT registration on Universitaly and payment of the entry fee (amount published on Universitaly); on test day a valid ID (same as at registration), the Universitaly registration receipt on request, and for non-EU candidates a copy of the residence permit or Italian entry visa. For candidates with a foreign qualification (via Apply@unimib): upper secondary diploma (or certificate of enrolment/attendance if not yet graduated); school transcripts for the last two years of secondary school; any additional qualification documents (e.g. AP levels, A-levels, Gaokao, ENEM); identity document (passport or ID card); English B2 certificate unless exempt. Non-EU visa applicants also need the Universitaly visa pre-enrolment. Original entry-qualification documents (with translations/legalisation where required) are needed at enrolment.
