High school diploma representing at least 12 years of schooling. U.S. high school diploma holders additionally need either three Advanced Placement (AP) exams in different subjects with scores of 3-5, or completion of at least one year of post-secondary study. Good knowledge of English at minimum B2 level. Accepted certifications: IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English. Native English speakers are exempt. No specific numeric score thresholds are published on the IPH pages. Italian is taught intensively during year 1 (240 hours) because years 2 and 3 of the underlying BA are delivered mainly in Italian.

- CRITICAL STRUCTURE NOTE: IPH is NOT a standalone 3-year English-taught bachelor degree. It is a 12-month English-immersion preparatory year (60 ECTS = first year of a 3-year BA) embedded inside one of four UniPi BA degrees (BA History, BA Languages/Literature/Intercultural Communication, BA Philosophy, BA Studies in Performing Art and Communication). Only year 1 is taught primarily in English; years 2-3 of the underlying BA are taught mainly in Italian. The IPH year also includes 240 hours of mandatory Italian language classes specifically to prepare students for the Italian-language continuation. Treat 'level: bachelor' with care: the canonical IPH pages frame it as the first year of a BA, not a complete English-medium BA.
- Field-specific uncertainties:
- - degree_class: The Italian degree class code (L-10 / L-11 / L-20 / L-3, etc.) is not published on the IPH-facing pages; the actual L-class depends on which of the four host BA degrees the student enrols in. Marked [uncertain].
- - application_deadline_eu / application_deadline_non_eu: Sourced from the IPH deadlines page for the XI Edition 2026/2027. There is an additional earlier deadline of 30 Nisan 2026 specifically for applicants from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan (recorded in source_quotes), which is stricter than the generic non-EU deadline.
- - entry_exam_or_test: There is no formal external entry exam (no TOLC, no SAT). Selection is via online application + documents + Skype interview for shortlisted applicants.
- - language_requirements: No numeric score thresholds for IELTS / TOEFL / Cambridge are published on iphpisa.it beyond 'B2 minimum'.
