English is the official language of instruction at all partner universities of the UNICA consortium; partner universities also offer lessons and seminars in their local languages (Italian, French, German, Norwegian, etc.) and students can attend classes in Italian at Tor Vergata. At Tor Vergata side, a significant share of historiographical courses is delivered in Italian; mobility partners (Paris, Berlin, Oslo) carry the bulk of the formally English-taught teaching. WARNING: although the programme is listed under 'Courses held in English' on the official Tor Vergata index, the Tor Vergata-side curriculum is NOT a fully English-only experience - this is a mixed-language Multiple Degree where C1 English and B2 Italian are both required of incoming students.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree (3-year laurea, 4-year diploma, or equivalent foreign first-cycle qualification) in humanities or social sciences. Tor Vergata-specific CFU requirements (per the Italian programme regulation): at least 24 CFU in core historical disciplines (medieval, modern, ancient history etc.); plus 18 CFU in related fields (art history, literature, philosophy, geography); plus a minimum of 90 CFU broadly within humanities (archaeology, languages, cultural studies, sociology). Adequate foundational training in historical disciplines and source-document analysis is required, along with basic IT/digital communication competency.
